"Then what did you just say to them?"
"The Fire Crow Guardian asked me why I came back from outside. I told it that I was the Hellhound that escaped before, and I specifically returned today to see my hometown. Then it welcomed me back, and that's when you saw me."
"Can we go in now?"
"Of course, Master. Follow me." With that, XP turned around and walked into the cave, followed closely by Liu Guanfeng and Little Black.
As Liu Guanfeng entered the cave, a wave of heat hit him, accompanied by an unpleasant sulfur smell. Unable to bear it, he coughed for a while at the entrance before slowly adapting to the odor inside. Although the sulfur smell was strong, the air inside was not thin, allowing for normal breathing.
Once they reached the Underworld, XP began acting as a tour guide for Liu Guanfeng: "Master, this is where I live. The Underworld is divided into Three Layers. The creatures living on the top layer are mainly a type of beast called the Mountain Gray Mouse. These beasts are just ordinary first-tier monsters, with the highest being only Fourth Rank. They are also at the bottom of the food chain in the Underworld, and when they get hungry, almost all monsters come up to catch some Mountain Gray Mice to eat.
Fortunately, these Mountain Gray Mice reproduce very quickly, so their numbers remain high. However, these mice have another function: they can produce food."
"Produce food?"
"Yes, it's quite strange. The Mountain Gray Mouse secretes a substance that promotes plant growth, and this secretion helps plants adapt to this environment. So all herbivores in our Underworld get their food from here. Moreover, Master, these Mountain Gray Mice can also produce a fruit called Icy Fruit, which makes your whole body feel much cooler after eating it."
Liu Guanfeng was taken aback; wasn't Icy Fruit just like ice pops? Did these Mountain Gray Mice have a production line?
"Master, every time the Icy Fruit ripens, these Mountain Gray Mice deliver a lot to us Hellhounds. It should be ripe by now; we might get to eat some after we return."
Sure enough, as soon as XP finished speaking, many gray mice appeared not far away. These mice were about the same size as modern ones but were very disciplined; each group consisted of about twenty or thirty mice. They quickly ran under the lead of one mouse and stopped in their tracks when they saw Liu Guanfeng, especially when they noticed XP had transformed into a real Hellhound. They waited for him to pass by, and as soon as he did, they resumed their rapid running.
Watching these industrious mice changed Liu Guanfeng's perception of them; he now found these Mountain Gray Mice quite adorable.
Under XP's guidance, Liu Guanfeng continued forward and encountered many magical beasts along the way, such as third-tier Fire-tailed Foxes and Short-haired Dogs; fourth-rank Earth Stone Lizards and Fire Stone Lizards, etc. Most of these creatures were active within their territories. He also saw many magical beasts catching Mountain Gray Mice. The mice were surprisingly docile; when one of their companions was captured, they showed no reaction and quickly fled without putting up any resistance.
Seeing this scene made Liu Guanfeng shake his head because this was a world where only the strong survived. After walking with XP for about two hours, they finally arrived at a dark cave entrance near a small rock.
"Master, this is the entrance to the second layer. Let's go down." After saying that, XP continued leading the way. Although the entrance was dark, once inside, Liu Guanfeng noticed that he could vaguely see something illuminated by low light.
They walked down for nearly an hour before reaching flat ground. After another ten minutes or so of walking, they finally saw light ahead. Rushing a few steps out of the cave revealed yet another new world.
In the first layer of the Underworld, there were well-growing plants on the ground and several fruit trees bearing fruit, creating a vibrant atmosphere. However, upon reaching the second layer, everything changed drastically; he could faintly see rivers of magma forming but in very small quantities. The ground was barren with not even a single blade of grass in sight.
The temperature in the second layer is significantly different from the first. The first layer is around thirty degrees, which is hot but bearable, while the second layer reaches about forty to fifty degrees, making it quite uncomfortable. I can't imagine how hot it will be in the third layer.
In the second layer, there are far fewer magical beasts compared to the first. Although this layer is larger in area, the harsh environment means many magical beasts can only survive in the first layer.
Thanks to XP's transformation, Liu Guanfeng did not encounter much trouble in the second layer and even found a guide, a Two-Headed Fire Lizard. This Fire Lizard is a Fifth Tier magical beast. At that moment, the Fire Lizard was resting by a Magma River when XP approached it to ask for help finding the dwelling place of the Hellhounds.
Seeing that XP was a Hellhound itself, the Fire Lizard didn't say much and led Liu Guanfeng and his companions forward.
With XP, the Hellhound, following closely behind, the Two-Headed Fire Lizard held its two heads high and walked confidently ahead. It did not shy away from any magical beasts they encountered, even boldly moving past several groups of tribal beasts without taking a detour.
The magical beasts were surprisingly quiet upon seeing XP and actively made way for Liu Guanfeng and his group. Some tribal leaders even came to see them off. The magical beasts here were as XP had described: primarily fire, earth, and metal types, with very few Golden Class beasts.
Thus, although they moved straight ahead, the Two-Headed Fire Lizard led Liu Guanfeng for several hours. Liu Guanfeng didn't keep track of how long they traveled, but they took a break to eat some provisions. After receiving a piece of raw lamb leg from Liu Guanfeng, the Fire Lizard happily devoured it.
After eating, Liu Guanfeng took a short nap. Although the temperature was uncomfortable, a brief period of cultivation helped alleviate his fatigue. After resting for about five hours, they set off again. This time, the Fire Lizard seemed very obedient and no longer walked straight ahead; instead, it sought out easier paths for Liu Guanfeng to follow. This was certainly due to the lamb leg.
After walking for several more hours, they came across a rocky area surrounded by small Magma Rivers. The temperature here was naturally higher than in other places. The Two-Headed Fire Lizard looked back at XP and shouted with its shrill voice.
"Master, the rocky area ahead is where the Hellhound tribe resides."
"Have we finally arrived? That wasn't easy," Liu Guanfeng said as he tossed another rabbit to the Two-Headed Fire Lizard. The Fire Lizard jumped up and caught the rabbit with both heads simultaneously. Liu Guanfeng was surprised to see how high this little creature could jump.
After grabbing the rabbit, the Fire Lizard quickly disappeared from Liu Guanfeng's sight, fearing he might want it back.
Liu Guanfeng continued toward the rocky area with his two mounts. When they reached the outermost Magma River, two dark figures suddenly sprang out from behind a nearby rock and stopped about five meters in front of Liu Guanfeng.
Upon closer inspection, he realized they were two black Two-Headed Hellhounds. These Hellhounds resembled ordinary dogs but had very short fur and exposed large fangs that looked quite terrifying. Both were Seventh Tier magical beasts and stood as tall as bulls.
Just as Liu Guanfeng was observing the two Hellhounds, XP jumped in front of him and shouted directly: "Black Egg! Blackie! Is that you two?"
The two Hellhounds froze for a moment before instinctively stepping back and scrutinizing XP with their eight eyes before barking a few times.
"Don't you remember me? I'm White Pup!"
Hearing this made Liu Guanfeng nearly faint; White Pup? What kind of name is that? The Hellhounds are quite creative.
However, after hearing XP's words, the two Hellhounds looked at him again and then simultaneously leaped into the air to pounce on XP.
Liu Guanfeng originally thought that the two Hellhounds were going to attack XP, but when the three Hellhounds rolled together, he realized they were just playing. However, their method of play was quite frightening. The three dog-sized creatures tumbled on the ground, kicking up dust that enveloped them completely. Liu Guanfeng and Little Black quickly distanced themselves from their playful antics.
After about ten minutes, the Three-Headed Hellhound finally settled down. At this point, XP had transformed from a white puppy into a gray one. After a brief shudder as if electrocuted, its snowy fur reappeared.
Then XP approached Liu Guanfeng with the other two Hellhounds: "Master, these two are my childhood companions. We haven't seen each other in a long time. Today, they are responsible for guarding the entrance. The one on my left is called Black Egg, and the one on my right is called Blackie."
Liu Guanfeng smiled and nodded at the two Hellhounds. Upon seeing Liu Guanfeng, the other two Hellhounds barked and headed toward a cluster of rocks.
"Master, they want us to follow them to meet our clan leader and elders."
With that, Liu Guanfeng followed the two Hellhounds named Black Egg and Blackie. The three-meter-wide Magma River posed no obstacle for Liu Guanfeng, who easily jumped across.
Crossing the outermost rocks marked his official entry into the Hellhound territory. Here, he could see various sizes and types of Hellhounds, and there were numerous caves in the surrounding rocks where all the Hellhounds lived.
As Liu Guanfeng entered the Hellhound tribe, many of them looked up at him. They were puzzled as to why a human would appear in this place, especially accompanied by a black beast resembling a dog and a white Three-Headed Hellhound that no one recognized. Where did this Hellhound come from?
Soon, under the guidance of Blackie and Black Egg, Liu Guanfeng arrived at a small cluster of dense rocks. The gaps between each rock were only about three meters wide, and within this small area were over a dozen large and small rocks. The largest rock stood out significantly in both size and height compared to the others; it was the highest and largest in the entire tribe.
Blackie and Black Egg stopped moving forward when they reached the small rock cluster; instead, they raised their heads and barked continuously.
Just as the two Hellhounds were barking wildly, a deep voice rang out: "We understand. Please wait with our guest for a moment. We will be out shortly."
