The Dragon King's mission can be considered a case of self-inflicted consequences. Not only did it allow a large number of the Hellhound Clan to advance to Divine Knight, but it also resulted in the capture of two dragon spies.
At this moment in the Underworld, a group of Hellhounds surrounded two black dragons, examining them closely. They still could not believe that the two black dragons, which had troubled the Hellhounds for nearly a thousand years, had been eliminated so easily. The presence of these two black dragons had always kept the Hellhound population from increasing; although they bred relatively quickly, the attacks from the black dragons consistently claimed many Hellhound lives.
While this group of Hellhounds was surrounding the black dragons, the former Hellhound Clan Leader emerged from a cave in the Three Layers, each mouth carrying two pieces of Hellfire Heartstone.
He spat out the four pieces of Hellfire Heartstone in front of Liu Guanfeng. "Master of the Clan Leader, these four have just absorbed Magma energy and are ready for use."
"I only need one of these; after all, with it, your Hellhound clan can advance more quickly. It's better to keep them for yourselves," Liu Guanfeng replied.
The former clan leader looked at XP with difficulty. "Great Elder, you should take these four for now. Although Hellfire Heartstone is valuable, my master is not greedy. Let's leave these for our descendants so they can grow quickly. We Hellhounds have been suppressed for far too long; we need to make the dragon clan understand that we will not be easily defeated." After being replaced by XP as clan leader, he directly became the Great Elder since he was the strongest in the clan at that time.
"Understood, Clan Leader."
"Alright, with that problem solved, the rest is simple. You all carry these two black dragon corpses back so we can savor the taste of dragon meat." With that, Liu Guanfeng laughed heartily.
Under XP's direction, sixty Hellhounds carried the two massive black dragons on their backs. Back at the tribe, Liu Guanfeng disassembled the two black dragons; the precious Core was stored in a Cosmic Bag while all the dragon meat was made into skewers. The dragon skin, an excellent armor material, could not be wasted in any way.
The size of the two black dragons was enormous, but there were plenty of Hellhounds; each dog only needed one bite to completely consume all the dragon meat from both dragons.
Liu Guanfeng was delighted to see that many Hellhounds immediately returned to their caves to enter a state of cultivation after eating dragon meat, indicating that the energy contained in the dragon meat was beneficial to them.
After consuming dragon meat, Liu Guanfeng returned to his cave. "XP, I’ve never seen those two skills you used earlier."
"Master, you may not know this. We Hellhounds are naturally attuned to fire elements and Earth Element. Manipulating Magma is indeed our specialty; once we reach the divine beast stage, all Hellhounds can manipulate Magma—it's just a matter of how much. My Hell Clone is our secret technique; each clone has independent judgment and seventy percent of my strength."
Liu Guanfeng nodded. "That's right; this way your strength has increased significantly."
"Hehe, I didn't expect to inherit such great abilities. Master, what are your plans next?"
"I must return to find the Dragon King and exchange for that token, then get back to the Eastern Dragon Empire as quickly as possible. Lately, I've felt uneasy as if something significant is about to happen."
"Master, I won't be going with you to Dragon Island this time. I plan to take all the Hellhounds outside."
"I understand that, but there's no need to be too harsh. You can still keep the Underworld; after all, this environment is quite suitable for you Hellhounds. You just need to help them adapt to survival outside, and the living conditions in the Beast Origin Mountain Range are quite good."
"What do you mean, Master?"
"My meaning is simple. From now on, the peak where the entrance to the Underworld is located will be your Hellhounds' lair. With this lair, you can also guard the entrance to the Underworld, allowing you to keep the Hellfire Heartstone, which is something you need most. Moreover, environments like the Three Layers are even more suitable for your cultivation. Isn't that good?"
"Yes, you're right; you think of everything, Master. I initially wanted to take them all to the mountains near the Eastern Dragon Empire, and my main concern was the Hellfire Heartstone. This kind of thing is incredibly important for us Hellhounds."
"So, there's really no need for you to leave here."
"You're so clever, Master," she chuckled.
"Have you been listening to too many flattery comments as a clan leader? Are you starting to learn it yourself?"
"I'm speaking the truth."
"Then you stay here and arrange for your people. Little Black and I will rest a bit before heading to Dragon Island to complete our mission." Liu Guanfeng knew very well that after the inheritance, the conflict between Hellhounds and dragons was not something he could resolve. It would be better for xp not to see the dragons; if there were any conflicts on Dragon Island, even if he was powerful, he couldn't go against the entire Dragon Island.
Xp also realized that it was no longer appropriate for her to go to Dragon Island now, so she nodded and said, "Master, I'll wait for you here. Remember to come back quickly."
"Don't worry; I won't forget about you." Liu Guanfeng smiled slightly.
Liu Guanfeng and Little Black rested again on the second level of the Underworld. Since there was no sunrise or sunset visible in this sky, they had no idea whether it was dark or light outside. After resting, they felt much more energetic. When Liu Guanfeng emerged from the cave, there were hardly any Hellhounds in sight within the rocky area; those who had eaten dragon meat yesterday were still in cultivation and had not yet woken up. It would probably take them two or three days to regain consciousness.
After bidding farewell to xp, Liu Guanfeng rode Little Black and left the Underworld. This time they left quickly because they already knew the way, and several elders among the Hellhounds saw them off while any troublesome beasts stepped aside willingly.
When Little Black carried Liu Guanfeng to the entrance of the Underworld, a ray of sunlight shone through the cave entrance. Fortunately, it was just dawn, and the sunlight was very gentle. Having stayed in the Underworld for such a long time, Liu Guanfeng was worried that his eyes might not withstand strong light. So he and Little Black stopped at the cave entrance to adapt to the sunlight outside. After a day of adjustment and feeling fine at night, Liu Guanfeng and Little Black walked out of the cave.
Fortunately, both Liu Guanfeng and Little Black were powerful enough and didn't need to sleep like ordinary people every day. After a simple cultivation session to restore their bodies, they took advantage of the night and flew into the sky together toward Dragon Island to complete their mission.
The journey of the human and the beast went smoothly, as strength cannot be faked. Especially since they had helped the Hellhound group advance in the Underworld, absorbing a lot of Thunder Energy. When Liu Guanfeng was using this energy to break through, Little Black had also engaged in brief cultivation. Now that they emerged, their strength had significantly increased.
One day, during Little Black's relentless flight, Liu Guanfeng once again saw Dragon Island. He wondered how much time had passed and whether the mission was still valid.
While Liu Guanfeng was lost in thought, a golden dragon with long hair flew over again. Upon seeing Liu Guanfeng, it was startled and then laughed heartily, saying, "So, how is it? Do you understand the difficulty of the mission assigned by our Dragon King now? I knew you wouldn't have such good luck."
"How do you know I didn't complete the mission?"
"Come on, how long have you been gone? It hasn't even been three months altogether. And I bet you just took a quick look at the mission and then sneaked back when you couldn't complete it."
"You seem to know me quite well?"
"How could someone as insignificant as you humans easily complete a mission from our Dragon King? That's just a joke."
Liu Guanfeng remained silent, but Little Black spoke up first: "Can I take that as a challenge?" Liu Guanfeng might not care about what this mindless golden dragon said, but as a magical beast, Little Black didn't have such patience; it didn't matter to him that they were on Dragon Island.
Upon hearing Little Black's words, the Golden Retriever was taken aback: "Even if it's a challenge, what can you do? Do you dare to make a move here on our Dragon Island?"
"It seems I didn't teach you enough last time." Just as Little Black was about to make a move, Liu Guanfeng quickly held him back.
"Brother, let's not get into conflict with them for now; after all, this is the territory of the dragon clan. We are only here to submit our mission."
With Liu Guanfeng's words, Little Black stopped talking. Liu Guanfeng smiled at the Golden Retriever: "You're just patrolling here. I don't want to get entangled with you; take me to see the Dragon King so I can submit my mission."
"Submit a mission? Ha! Don't make me laugh. Show me the mission items."
"Do you know what the Dragon King sent us to find? If something gets damaged by your hands, can you bear that responsibility?"
"Don't try to scare me; do you think I'm afraid of you Golden Retrievers? If you don't have the mission items, I won't let you in."
Liu Guanfeng smiled slightly: "That's what you said. If that's the case, I won't submit this mission. Let's see how you'll explain it to the Dragon King and Fire Dragon King. Little Black, let's go."
"Stop." Upon hearing Liu Guanfeng say he was leaving, the Golden Retriever panicked. It had only intended to make things difficult for Liu Guanfeng, as it still harbored resentment towards him. However, if its grudge caused a delay in treating the Fire Dragon King's injuries, it would likely face severe punishment, even from the Golden Dragon King, who loved it dearly.
"Why should we stop? Didn't I say I'm not handing over the mission?"
"Um... that was my fault earlier. I'll take you to see the Dragon King right away." At this moment, the Golden Retriever had to tread carefully; after all, its life was far more important than its resentment.
Soon, under the guidance of the Golden Retriever, Liu Guanfeng stepped onto Dragon King Island for the second time. After casting a resentful glance at Liu Guanfeng, the Golden Retriever turned and flew away from Dragon King Island. At that moment, the Two-Headed Golden Dragon King stood opposite Liu Guanfeng.
"Have you brought back the items I requested?"
"Dragon King, is this what you were looking for?" Liu Guanfeng said as he took out a piece of Hellfire Heartstone from his pocket.
The Dragon King gently picked up the Hellfire Heartstone with its massive claws and examined it before nodding and saying, "Not bad. This is indeed what I wanted. I didn't expect such a small rock to contain such immense fiery energy."
Liu Guanfeng smiled at the Dragon King but remained silent. After observing for a moment longer, the Dragon King continued, "I almost forgot; this is the reward I promised you." As it spoke, a small black token was tossed into Liu Guanfeng's hands. Without hesitation, Liu Guanfeng placed the token into his Cosmic Bag.
"Liu Guanfeng, may I ask where you obtained this Hellfire Heartstone?"
Liu Guanfeng smiled slightly. "As for the location, I believe you know better than I do, Dragon King. This item can only be found in the Underworld. I got this Hellfire Heartstone from the Hellhound's tribe." He would never mention killing the black dragons; although he was unsure of their connection to Dragon Island, they were still dragons. If the Dragon King found out he had killed two black dragons on his own, he might get angry and leave both him and Little Black behind here, which would be troublesome.
The Dragon King merely nodded and said nothing more: "Thank you, brave human adventurer. I hope you can become an eternal friend of our dragon race."
"I would be delighted. Well then, Dragon King, I will take my leave now." With that, Liu Guanfeng did not linger on Dragon Island for another moment and rode Little Black back to the mainland.
