Chapter 028: Ghost Child 0

"Did you have fun scaring me by not telling me you were coming out?" I pretended to glare at Dabao with displeasure. 0

"Yeah, it was really fun!" Dabao replied with a naive smile, one that looked just like before, making me unconsciously smile back. Hearing my voice, Lime had already stopped and was looking at us, so I asked, "Lime, can you see Dabao?" 0

"As long as he wants to, I can see him." He looked at me as if he didn't see Dabao, but I had a strange feeling because Lime seemed to glance at Dabao when he said that. 0

Dabao, however, seemed not to understand Lime's words. He curiously circled around him and said to me, "Mad Zi, is this the person you said could help me? He looks so thin and weak, just like a Pretty Boy. Is he really as amazing as you say?" 0

"Of course he's amazing!" I didn't know if Lime could hear me, but I really wanted to give Dabao a good talking-to. He was speaking without thinking; if Lime heard him, it would be a disaster. So I glanced at Lime a few more times and saw that he still had a blank expression, which made me feel relieved. I then told Dabao, "Dabao, don't worry. Lime said there's a way to save you!" 0

"Oh?" Upon hearing this, Dabao became interested and asked hopefully, "What method?" 0

"Well..." It seemed like he hadn't told me yet! I looked at Lime for help and asked, "What exactly is the method?" 0

"It's simple. Since you've missed the time, let's send him to hell," Lime said emotionlessly. 0

I looked at Lime, then at Dabao's frozen smile for a moment, thinking I must have misheard him. In disbelief, I asked, "Send him to hell?" 0

"Not hell; do you think it's heaven?" Lime looked at me and said clearly, "Reincarnation after death is an unchanging rule of nature. Hell is not what you think it is, so there's no need to be afraid." 0

"But..." I looked at Dabao with difficulty, still unable to believe that Lime actually said the words about sending Dabao to hell. After all, hell is just a place that people believe in... Is there really a hell? I suddenly realized that apart from the seemingly only way of sending him to hell, there really seemed to be no other option. So I awkwardly asked, "Then how can we find that place?" Meaning hell... 0

"Have you heard of Hell's Gate? In fact, there are many such entrances in the world, but usually, there is only one place closest to hell." Lime looked at me, his eyes incredibly clear. It was hard not to believe him. Yes, there really is only one place closest to hell, and that is—inside a grave. 0

For some reason, I felt a deep discomfort in my heart. Am I really going to watch Dabao go to hell? No, I can't do it! 0

Just as I was sinking into the abyss of self-blame, Dabao suddenly leaned against my chest. I saw him smiling at me: "It's me going to hell, not you. Why do you seem more afraid of the pain than I am?" 0

Looking at his smile made me feel even more painful. I said with immense guilt, "It's all my fault for harming you!" 0

"I should blame myself for being foolish..." Dabao smiled bitterly and then patted me on the shoulder, saying, "Don't blame yourself; after all, I'm already dead. Living like this is really meaningless. It's better to go to hell and be reincarnated early like Lime said." 0

I didn't know how to respond to him. Just then, Lime spoke up, looking in Dabao's direction: "My friend, the magnetic field here is very complex; I advise you to hide for now." 0

"Okay." Dabao shrugged at me and said, "It does feel a bit strange and uncomfortable. I'll take a nap first; call me when we reach our destination." After saying that, he truly disappeared. 0

I looked at Lime with disappointment, but unexpectedly he shook his head helplessly and asked me, "How many times did he touch you just now?" 0

"Several times?" Before I could grasp the meaning of his words, I saw him looking at me with pity and saying, "Some unexpected events might happen next; we need to be careful." 0

What kind of unexpected events? Looking at the hint of pity in Lime's eyes made me panic even more. How dangerous could it be for Lime to take it seriously? 0

Lime didn't say much but continued walking. Although I closely followed behind him, my mind couldn't help but wander. The cold atmosphere grew heavier; I even felt as if someone was blowing air near my ear—cool and making my scalp tingle. 0

"Lime, why do I feel like someone is watching us?" I felt my teeth chattering as I said this. 0

Lime didn't respond. Although he often ignored me, I was genuinely scared this time. I took a few steps closer and grabbed his arm, asking again, "Lime, don't you feel like someone is staring at us?" As I spoke, I felt that my grip on him was so cold, as if it wasn't human warmth but the chill of a corpse... 0

"Lime!" I shouted, pulling him to face me, but what I saw was a face bleeding from seven holes! His eyes were as black as an abyss, as if they were going to swallow me whole. Just that one glance made me almost stop breathing; I collapsed onto the ground, terrified, staring at the strange and stiff curve of his lips... 0

"What's wrong with you?" Lime asked with an eerie smile. 0

I couldn't bear to look at his bloodied face, so I turned my gaze away. Just as I was about to say nothing was wrong, I suddenly saw a child! The child's face was purple and swollen, his clothes tattered and covered in dirt. He looked lifeless and stood motionless by a tree, staring at me. My breath nearly stopped; I didn't even notice when that Ghost Child appeared... 0

"Dabao, Dabao, come out!" I trembled as I pulled out a small glass bottle and called out, but Dabao seemed to have vanished into thin air. After calling a few times with no response, the Ghost Child expressionlessly walked towards me. 0

"Feng Zi, it's cold on the ground; get up," Lime had somehow moved to my side and was looking at me with a blank expression. As I watched Lime while also keeping an eye on the approaching Ghost Child, I felt that with each step the Ghost Child took closer, the stench of decay around us grew stronger. When the Ghost Child lunged at me with a grotesque face, I jumped in fright and uncontrollably rolled to the side before scrambling forward. 0

As I ran, I glanced back and was stunned to see that the bloodied Lime was chasing after me! I felt increasingly weak and nearly tripped over branches several times but miraculously managed to stay upright. At that moment, I couldn't think about why my reflexes were so sharp; all my focus was on not getting caught. 0

Just as I turned back again, I saw Lime had jumped behind me. His movements were incredibly fast; in an instant, he grabbed my shoulder. At that moment, I truly understood what it meant to feel powerless—my heart willing but my body unable! He knocked me heavily to the ground; it felt like my skin was being scraped off. Ignoring the burning pain all over my body, I desperately tried to shake him off, but he held me down tightly, rendering me nearly immobile. 0

At that moment, he leaned down close to my ear and coldly said, "Don't move!" 0
