By the time I arrived at Duxiu Villa, it was already five in the afternoon. Since I decided to stay here for the night, I dropped off my luggage and went out to find a quiet place to catch some fresh air and calm down.
As the sky darkened, I admired the crimson clouds on the horizon, and my heart began to relax.
The afterglow of the sunset spread like a golden blanket across half the sky, its softness overshadowing even the grandeur of the mountains. Unfortunately, this beauty was fleeting, much like human life itself—gone in an instant compared to the vastness of time. The more I deeply understood the preciousness and rarity of life, the more it ignited my fighting spirit, filling me with an inexhaustible strength to resist fate. My destiny is in my hands, not dictated by heaven!
I stood up and gazed at the distant mountains, my heart surging with emotion.
I will not die! No matter how difficult or perilous the road ahead may be, I will keep moving forward!
"I can feel something calling me from somewhere." Without looking at when Lime had approached me, I sensed a stir within my soul, as if someone was waiting for me to rescue them. This feeling was incredibly strong.
Surprisingly, Lime believed me and seemed somewhat moved. "Which direction? Where?"
I shook my head. "Northeast." That was the direction I was currently facing; I didn't know the exact location.
"Trust your feelings; we will set off tomorrow." After saying that, Lime fell silent and turned to leave.
As the North Wind brushed against my face, I took a deep breath and fixed my gaze ahead. From now on, nothing would stop my steps. Some things cannot be avoided, and I do not wish to escape them. The secret of immortality is something I must obtain!
"Feng Zi, dinner is ready."
"Oh." I turned around to see Sun Lan standing behind me, proudly looking to her left, lost in thought.
After taking a few steps, she grabbed my foot. I glanced at her; what was this young lady up to now? I wasn't in the mood for a verbal sparring match!
"Um, that..."
"Feng Zi, why aren't you coming in? The food will get cold!" Rophie waved at me from under the eaves with a beautiful smile.
"Okay, I'm coming." Saying that, I ran over to Rophie. As for Sun Lan, I hoped she wouldn't cause any more trouble in the future. Just as I reached Rophie’s side, Sun Lan's voice rang out: "Feng Zi, you jerk!"
"What happened to her? Did she eat gunpowder?" I asked Rophie with a helpless smile.
Rophie looked just as helpless and pulled me inside while saying, "It's nothing. She probably wants to apologize to you."
Apologize to me!? With the way she looks, I wouldn't believe it even if I were dead. This tomboy, it's already surprising if she treats me a bit nicer, let alone apologizing...
The meal was quite enjoyable. I ate meat and drank wine heartily. I had never exposed such a rough side of myself like tonight, getting completely drunk and not even remembering how I got back to my room. All I remembered was that I was very drunk and very satisfied.
Of course, tonight was an exception for indulgence.
My head felt heavy, and everything around me was shrouded in fog, leaving me unsure of where I was. After taking a few steps forward, the scene suddenly changed; the fog turned into a pitch-black night, and the twinkling stars seemed to be right in front of me. I spun around in place, feeling as if I were in the starry sky—no, in the universe itself. The sight before me was astonishing and left me speechless!
The visual shock made me forget everything else. A familiar sensation brushed against my heart like a feather. Just as I tried to grasp it, it vanished in an instant. When I tried to search for it again, Cosmic Starry Sky had disappeared, leaving only desolation behind—cracked earth, collapsed mountains, and vanished rivers, resembling an apocalypse filled with silence and endless sorrow.
My heart ached so much that I could hardly breathe, as if gripped tightly by invisible hands. As the world spun around me, the air trembled, the ground rumbled, and boundless Death Qi spread out like the roar of a demon—deafening. My Internal Organs felt shattered; blood began to seep from my body, and Seven Holes were bleeding too. The pain was excruciatingly real; everything happening was real! The only feeling in my heart was that this was real—I had to escape!
"Do you see it?" A voice suddenly floated through the rumble—small but clear in my mind.
I stopped struggling and looked toward the source of the voice. There stood a slender figure ahead—familiar brows, familiar eyes, familiar features—all combined into something both familiar and strange. "This is my dream; every day, every year—the only dream."
Endless nightmare!
"You..." Yes, he looked just like me but wasn't me.
He floated closer from afar; looking at him felt like staring into a mirror. Yet those eyes were so cold that they were hard to meet directly. His well-defined features exuded an air of aloofness—both noble and cruel. "I don't know why I'm inside you. I give you power but only ask that you unravel this secret."
I was shocked; did he mean he wasn't my second personality?
"No." He looked at me resolutely; his Crimson Lips parted slightly—not quite smiling. "From now on, call me Zi. I just hope this all ends soon. I'll transfer everything I know into your mind; after that, perhaps I'll be asleep for a long time. Take care of yourself."
"Wait a moment..." As soon as I spoke, memories that didn't belong to me flooded into my mind. I quickly closed my eyes; when I opened them again, daylight had arrived—a ray of sunlight streamed through the glass into the room, warm yet desolate.
After freshening up, I went to knock on Lime's door. After knocking several times without response, I headed towards the dining table where several people were already seated. Upon seeing me arrive, Rophie waved her hand to signal me to come over quickly.
"Feng Zi, are you okay? You don't look so good," Rophie said with concern, pulling me down to sit.
"You probably drank too much last night, haha. Have you not had alcohol for years? That was quite wild!" Tongqi teased with a laugh.
"I'm fine." After reassuring Rophie, I shot a glance at Tongqi and said, "I seem to remember someone getting drunk and acting crazy. Do you remember?" Although I had overindulged last night, Tongqi got drunk before I did and was quite the spectacle; I definitely wouldn't forget that moment when I almost laughed myself to the ground.
"Who? Who acted crazy?" Tongqi stammered, his face turning slightly pale as he quickly changed the subject. "Alright, let's not talk about that; it affects my image."
I looked at him with a half-smile but didn't say much. Xiao Xiao tugged at Tongqi, scolding him for embarrassing himself. We were all used to their playful banter by now.
As for the others, Lime and Fu Song were absent. Sun Lan was focused on her meal, not even glancing my way, while Li Hui's attention was solely on Sun Lan, serving her tea and food with great care.
"Where are the other two?" I asked while eating.
"Fu Song said he went out for a walk. As for your friend, I haven't seen him since early this morning," Rophie replied.
"Speaking of which, your friend is quite a character. I didn't hear him say a word the entire way here; if you hadn't mentioned him, I would have almost forgotten he existed," Tongqi remarked as he calmed down and returned to his mischievous grin.
I sighed in exasperation; Lime was the kind of person who could walk beside you without you even noticing if he wanted to. "Didn't I already tell you? He's a bit reclusive; just get used to it, haha."
"By the way, just so you know, I'm not planning to hike to the top today." Seeing everyone staring at me, I smiled slightly and continued, "I want to explore the mountain instead; taking the stairs is too easy." In reality, I preferred places with fewer people, so heading into the forest seemed better—less crowded and fresher air. Plus, there was plenty of food and water in The Dead, so I wouldn't have to worry about going hungry.
