The wind blew, silent and still...
Rophie stood there in a daze, her beautiful eyes wide open, filled with fear, doubt, and disbelief! I noticed her shiver slightly, her petite figure appearing even more desolate in the pitch-black night.
I immediately felt annoyed; this troublesome mouth of mine just had to say the wrong thing at the wrong time. Why would I say something like that to a girl late at night?
"Well, actually, it might not be true. I was just saying it casually," I quickly replied.
Rophie shook her head, her body gradually relaxing as she forced a smile, her face pale as she softly said, "I'm fine."
Sigh, she's so strong it makes my heart ache!
"We've been out for quite a while; it's time to head back. Let's go, we don't want everyone to worry." Alright, I couldn't think of anything comforting to say, so this would have to do.
On the way back, Rophie didn't say much. It seemed she was genuinely frightened. If there really were a female ghost with red eyes, then what Rophie saw...
Those involved and bystanders will always perceive things differently. Even if this happened to a man instead of a girl, the level of fear would be unimaginable.
As soon as we returned to the camp, I saw two figures standing there; everyone else must have gone to sleep.
Upon getting closer, I realized those two were Lime and Fu Song.
"Did you find any food?" I asked casually, even though I already knew the answer.
Lime leaned against a tree with his arms crossed and shook his head slightly. Fu Song also said they hadn't found anything and then looked into the depths of the forest, asking, "Do you think Brother Xian and the others are okay?"
Although I wasn't sure either, I patiently replied, "Let's wait a bit longer."
The matter between Xianxian and that guy named Qin Ge would have to be resolved sooner or later; I just didn't expect it to happen tonight. I hoped Xianxian wouldn't act too impulsively; haste makes waste. It wouldn't be good if things escalated now!
Those guys were all armed and skilled fighters, while we were just a bunch of college students looking for excitement. Our combat effectiveness? No need to compare; we'd be knocked out instantly.
"Faye, you should go in and get some sleep," I said to Rophie.
"Alright, you all should rest early too." After saying that, Rophie glanced at us one more time before entering the tent.
I turned back to the two of them and said, "Fu Song, you stay here. Lime, let's go look for them. I have a feeling something is going to happen."
Without a word, Lime stood up and gestured for me to follow. It seemed he had been holding back for a long time.
Following the direction Xianxian had gone earlier, Lime and I quickly ran ahead.

After about ten minutes.
"Damn it, how is there not even a sound in this godforsaken place?" A rough voice came from deep in the woods. I recognized it as Wang Yi's voice, so Lime and I slowly stopped.
"It's autumn now; winter is coming soon," a cool male voice replied. That should be Zhao Yang, who was with Wang Yi.
Wang Yi cursed, "There's no food left. Are we supposed to eat tree bark and roots?"
"If we have to eat, you're not the only one! Don't worry; the boss won't let us starve. We can always retreat; this isn't a place we have to stay!"
"True, oh ho ho." After the laughter, Wang Yi's voice became serious again. "Do you think Cui Ming will go after our Master Xian?"
"Hard to say."
"I think that guy should have been dealt with long ago. Didn't you see how cold he is? He acts like he looks down on everyone, as if he's the boss!"
"Right, and those people around him are just as arrogant. They always look down on others with that 'I disdain you' expression; it's infuriating!"
"Stop overthinking; that's just your opinion."
"What's wrong? Don't you think so?"
"I... who!?" Zhao Yang exclaimed warily as soon as he opened his mouth.
As Lime and I jumped down from the tree in front of them, I smiled and said, "It's me."
"Brother Feng!" Wang Yi grinned foolishly upon seeing us.
Before they could speak, I raised my hand and said, "No need to say more. Lime and I are going to find Xianxian. You two should head back first."
The two looked troubled, but it was Wang Yi who spoke up, looking distressed. "Well, Brother Feng, we also need to find Master Xian. You don't know, that Qin Ge kid is quite nimble; I'm afraid he might launch a sneak attack!"
"If he doesn't sneak attack, that would be surprising," I thought to myself with an eye roll. "If he calls someone out, does he not have a plan in mind?"
Wang Yi scratched the back of his head and pondered for a moment. "That's true; I'm just worrying too much, haha."
"Alright, we'll handle this. You two hurry back and take turns keeping watch." With that, I turned to leave.
Just as I walked away, I heard Wang Yi's voice fading behind me: "Brother Feng is really becoming more and more like a big brother. The head of the family should have this kind of presence. I think we chose the right path this time; our League of Shadows will definitely make a splash in the future..."
Hearing this made me smile helplessly. Indeed, one must have strength. If I had acted like this before, I would have been criticized or ignored entirely. Now it felt quite interesting...
After some time passed without seeing those two, the surroundings were eerily quiet. The only sounds were the crunching of leaves underfoot and the wind blowing past my ears.
I began to feel uneasy until I caught a whiff of blood stench; that confirmed my fears—those two troublesome guys had indeed gotten into a fight!
Sure enough, following the faint blood stench led me to see two people lying on the ground, motionless like corpses.
Oh no, they couldn't have been killed, could they? I quickly ran over to Xianxian while Lime crouched beside Qin Ge.
As I checked Xianxian's pulse, I asked, "Are you dead? If you're not dead, make a sound."
"Zhi..."
Hearing that sound, I was momentarily stunned before bursting into laughter. "As long as you're not dead, look at you being so pathetic!"
Xianxian, realizing what had happened, jumped up to hit me, but I quickly held him down and said, "Alright, alright, if you're injured, don't move around. Just behave!"
"Yaya, you little brat! You've gotten bold enough to mess with This Lord!" Xianxian glared at me angrily.
I ignored him and chuckled, "What happened? Why did you two end up fighting?"
"What else could happen? That guy is so stubborn! But..." He smiled instead, "No matter how stubborn he is, he still ended up obedient to This Lord!"
Indeed, violence solves everything! However, I actually wanted to say that getting beaten up didn't look good on you either.
"Cough cough..."
On the other side, Qin Ge had already coughed a few times and sat up. Lime was sitting beside him, staring into the distance without saying a word.
It seemed like there was some issue between those two! I looked at Xianxian in confusion, who also seemed puzzled and signaled with his eyes that he had no idea. After sitting up, he began to stretch his limbs.
"So how did he resolve it?" I asked.
Xianxian pondered for a moment before looking at me and saying, "How about we just beat him up again?"
