Just as I managed to take a breath of air, another wave of dizziness hit me. My body was already in a semi-numb state, and I could only watch helplessly as I was slowly pulled into the depths of the water, sinking into the murky mud of the trap. I tightly closed my eyes, feeling the icy and sandy touch, as if I were Buried Alive.
Fortunately, Lime came rushing in and handed me a simple yet practical oxygen tank. By the time I regained my senses, Lime had already vanished from sight. If it weren't for the item in my mouth, I would have almost thought I was hallucinating.
I don't know how long this situation lasted; my mind remained in a semi-dazed state until I completely lost consciousness. It was only a matter of minutes, but it felt like an eternity... an eternity...
"Hey, hey, Fengfeng, wake up! Wake up, damn it, I'm freezing to death!"
Someone shook my shoulder vigorously; even a dead person would wake up from that.
"Cough, cough..." When I woke up, I started coughing violently until I spat out all the mud and sand from my mouth. Only then did I feel the bone-chilling cold—a cold that penetrated to the very marrow!
"Xianxian... Lime..." The words I spoke trembled as I saw their first reactions. Naturally, I was very happy; at least it meant we were still alive. We really hadn't died!
However, the appearances of Xianxian and Lime could hardly be described as "disheveled." They looked like mud people, covered head to toe in dirt, still in a half-dry and half-wet state. Especially Xianxian, who was wearing that diving suit—it made him look almost like a loach. But... perhaps his current appearance was just a reflection of mine...
Lime had already taken off his diving suit and tossed it aside, so although he looked disheveled, he was slightly better off than Xianxian.
Looking around at our current surroundings, I couldn't help but be stunned...
This was a frozen world! Beneath us and all around us were thick blocks of crystal-clear ice, with remnants of ships trapped within. We were like ants in this frozen "ruin," appearing so small and insignificant!
Just taking a glance made me feel nearly numb from the cold. Seeing that both of them had lips turning purple from freezing, I quickly took out three sets of clean and thick yellow coats from The Dead, along with a set of clean clothes for changing. Shivering, I asked, "Do you want to wash off the mud? I've got some warm water."
"Wash? Damn right we need to wash! Even if it's cold water, I'm washing!" Xianxian grabbed the clothes without putting them on and started stripping off his own clothes. Lime did the same, standing up to take off his clothes. My own clothes were also wet and filled with mud and sand inside; they clung uncomfortably to my skin!
Without saying another word, I directly pulled out three thermos bottles and a bucket—one for each of us. Although we were shivering uncontrollably from the cold, it didn't take long for us three to strip down completely. As soon as warm water was poured into the bucket, thick steam rose up. Xianxian jumped around while pouring water over himself, cursing under his breath. Lime, on the other hand, remained quiet; though he looked cold too, he quickly washed off the mud and began putting on his clothes.
Since this wasn't a full bath, I only rinsed myself off briefly before dumping the remaining water over my head and hastily wiping myself down with a towel before quickly getting dressed.
Indeed, having The Dead was great! It had everything one could possibly need—anything you could think of was prepared in multiple quantities! I didn't care whether I'd need it later; almost everything was stocked up!
Wearing a down jacket under a thick yellow coat and cotton-lined shoes felt like being lifted straight from hell into heaven—the sensation was indescribably delightful!
"Damn it, this feels amazing!" Xianxian exclaimed happily while wrapped in his yellow coat. He kicked at the nearby "Ice Ship" and cursed angrily: "This damn place almost froze me to death! Just wait until I get back; I'll blow you up first!"
Looking at Lime who appeared gloomy beside me, even though I was unhappy inside, seeing him like this made all my anger dissipate. So I asked, "By the way, where did you go before?"
"I didn't go anywhere," Lime replied simply, his voice still as calm as ever.
"If you didn't go anywhere, then where did you go?" Xianxian quickly regained her energy and reached out to me.
I understood what she meant, so I took out some food. The three of us ate while waiting to recover our strength for the upcoming adventure!
"Alright, alright, at least he has a bit of conscience for coming back to save us two. Let's not hold the runaway incident against him for now!" After all, it wouldn't do any good to dwell on it.
"No way! Although it's true that he saved This Lord, I still have to say something!" Xianxian sat down facing Lime, nibbling on her bread while earnestly lecturing him, "Let me just say a couple of things. You know that teachers have always taught us that running away from home is wrong, so please don't do that again in the future. Even if you don't leave a message, leaving a note would be good too. Got it? Good, that's all I have to say."
Although she was lecturing Lime, it felt more like Xianxian was talking to herself because Lime was busy eating his bread and didn't even glance at her. He seemed completely unfazed by her excited tone as if he were a teacher himself.
"Why haven't we seen anyone else?" After finishing my bread, I stood up and looked around twice. Indeed, apart from the frozen shipwrecks, corpses, and frozen soil, there were no other living souls in sight besides the three of us.
Xianxian sat cross-legged on the ice and yawned, saying, "You should ask Lemon about that."
Perhaps hearing his nickname, Lime's mouth twitched suspiciously for a moment before he said lightly, "I only saved you two." This meant that due to the urgent situation at the time, he could only manage to save me and Xianxian.
To be fair, in such circumstances, being able to ensure one's own safety was already impressive enough. The fact that Lime managed to save two people made me question how his body was structured; he was truly remarkable. I couldn't help but feel a mix of envy and admiration!
Xianxian let out a satisfied burp and sighed, "That Wang Yi is quite lucky; he shouldn't run into any trouble." After a pause, she rationally analyzed, "Although Pei Zi seems average in strength, if that were the case, they wouldn't have escaped so many times. Plus, there might be someone from Qinglong involved. So either they are hiding their true strength very well or they just have incredible luck!"
"I've investigated this person; he goes to places that ordinary Tomb Raiders wouldn't dare venture into and always returns unscathed. Even with good luck, it's impossible to escape every time. So this person is clever; his strength is definitely not inferior to ours!" Xianxian glanced at me meaningfully when she mentioned "ours."
I sighed, "Alright then, I hope they can also escape safely!"
"Escaping isn't hard; it's just that..." Xianxian smiled like a fox. "The real trouble starts after escaping!"
Indeed, without the enormous cheat code of The Dead, we would either freeze to death or starve. In that situation, our backpacks with simple tools had long since disappeared—let alone food. With cold water and mud everywhere, it would be miraculous if we could find anything edible!
Thinking of this made me frown again as I said worriedly, "If we run into them, how do we explain our gear?"
"Well..." Xianxian stroked her chin thoughtfully and said, "How about saying we found it among these shipwrecks?"
I twitched my lips. "Isn't that reason a bit forced?"
"Then let's just say that it was Elder Lemon who brought everything to save us!" Xianxian said, sounding quite grandiose.
Hehe... I could only chuckle lightly and glance at Lime. Although Master Qing's reputation was already well-known, it seemed a bit too miraculous that he not only entered unscathed but also brought three large bags of equipment. Would others really believe this?
"How about this, let's say it's half true and half false. We can claim that most of the stuff was dug out from a submarine, and as for the rest, let others guess," he said, looking at Lime with an exceptionally cunning smile. "After all, the outside world is already spreading rumors about how powerful you are, Master Qing. Adding one more item wouldn't be a big deal, right?"
I felt helpless at Xianxian's theory. He knew that Lime had been praised to death; did he think everyone else was an idiot? However, it seemed there were indeed quite a few idiots around. Besides, the ones who had praised Lime to death in the first place were the Black Blade Organization. And after so many years, Lime's strength had indeed changed significantly; it seemed reasonable to embellish him just a little bit.
Moreover, the place we were currently in was filled with shipwrecks and submarines of various sizes; it was just that everything was covered in a thick layer of ice.
As soon as Xianxian finished speaking, Lime drew the Dragon Abyss Ancient Sword from his waist. His dark eyes remained calm and indifferent, but his aura suddenly intensified.
"What do you want to do?" Xianxian immediately crossed his arms and took a few steps back, looking at Lime warily while muttering, "You’re not planning to destroy the evidence, are you?"
Lime merely glanced at him indifferently; his expression showed no dissatisfaction but rather a hint of helplessness. He then surprisingly said, "Just in case someone comes to gather evidence." With that, he walked over to what appeared to be a submarine beneath a large block of ice. With a swift motion of his sword, there was a crisp sound as the ice cracked open. The crack widened until it formed a large hole, and with another strike of his sword, the ice covering the submarine shattered completely.
Now that's raw power! A meter-thick layer of ice was blasted open with ease. Should I praise the sharpness of this ancient sword or commend Lime's terrifying strength?
Or perhaps both.
After finally reaching the door of the submarine and opening it, the three of us couldn't help but freeze in shock...
