Chapter 213: Buried Alive
Like a stream, the Green Fluorescent Band ahead gradually faded from view at a speed visible to the naked eye, becoming lighter and lighter until it completely merged with the night.
We ran, but ultimately could not keep up with its speed. The fluorescent band disappeared, and the strange sounds abruptly ceased. This process took no more than three minutes; from the initial fading to complete disappearance, it only took three minutes! I stood there dejectedly, only hearing the howling wind.
“If I had known, I would have run faster to see what was at the end!” Xianxian said, hands on her hips, looking frustrated and regretful.
Pei Zi also looked quite dejected but optimistically said, “Let’s wait for the next time. Since there was a first time, there will always be a second!”
“When will that be?” Yu Yu said with a pained expression on her beautiful face.
“Let’s head back. I have a bad feeling about this.” Looking at the place where the fluorescent band had vanished, I couldn’t tell if it was my heightened perception or just a psychological effect, but I vaguely felt an incredibly powerful and terrifying force approaching us.
However, Xianxian didn’t want to let it go just like that and reluctantly said, “Why go back? How about we move forward a bit more?”
“The path has disappeared; where are we supposed to go?” Yu Yu asked lazily.
Xianxian smirked cunningly, her eyes sparkling as she said, “I’ve probably memorized the general direction, so I want to see what’s causing all this!”
“Better not. If we go the wrong way, it’ll just waste time and energy.” I disagreed. For some reason, I felt an overwhelming sense of danger ahead and instinctively wanted to leave.
“Fengfeng, you’re not scared, are you? Hahaha~ It’s been ages since I’ve seen that expression!” Xianxian teased me, looking like he was enjoying my fear.
Even though I knew he was trying to provoke me, I fell for it and shot back defiantly, “Who’s scared? I just don’t want to waste unnecessary energy!”
Yet Xianxian looked at me as if he would never believe me and continued to provoke me. “How about this: you and Pei Zi go back first while Yu Yu and I scout ahead. What do you think?”
“Since you insist on going, how could I possibly leave? Dream on!” I shot him a glare and sighed deeply inside. Xianxian's curiosity had already been piqued; convincing him to turn back at this point was impossible. Since that was the case, we might as well move forward.
Just like that, none of us four left, relying on our memories as we ran once again toward the unknown ahead. If you ask whether we would go off course, I can only say that a slight deviation is undoubtedly possible, but the general direction should be correct! Especially since I could already feel that we were getting closer and closer to that dangerous place...
Suddenly, a strong wind blew fiercely from the opposite direction, stopping us in our tracks. It felt as if there was a transparent membrane blocking our way. I pushed forward with all my strength, but it felt like I was sinking into soft dough, even pulling back was somewhat difficult.
The sound of the wind was so loud that it almost drowned out the voices of the others, and everything happened so suddenly that we plunged headfirst into the gale without sensing any problems. We were like green leaves in the wind, swaying unsteadily, barely able to stand.
I had no idea where the moon had gone; darkness surrounded us, and a powerful and terrifying aura enveloped me. The darkness seemed like an enormous mouth, ready to swallow us whole at any moment.
"What the hell is going on? Damn it!" Xianxian's curses reached my ears but sounded very faint.
"Should we retreat?" That was Yu Yu's voice.
Xianxian continued to curse vehemently, refusing to back down. "Retreat? Hell no! I want to see what kind of trick is being played here!"
I finally realized that Xianxian's thirst for knowledge was even stronger than mine. Well, why shouldn't I be curious too? Once again, an unexpected situation made my blood boil!
The more dangerous and bizarre it was, the more it indicated that there were significant secrets here. However, I hoped that whatever strange events we encountered had nothing to do with Lime and the others; otherwise, I would surely cry!
"Be careful, don't get trapped!" Pei Zi shouted loudly.
Earlier, I had already felt my legs struggling to move. Now looking down at my feet, I saw that without realizing it, the sand had already engulfed our ankles. Whether it was due to the strong wind or our feet sinking into the sand, I felt that moving now was incredibly difficult!

The wind howled loudly, almost causing me to have tinnitus. However, at this moment, I couldn't care less; since we weren't going back, we could only charge forward desperately. After pushing through for a while, suddenly I heard some strange sounds and came to a halt.
Amidst the wind noise, there seemed to be many peculiar sounds mixed in—people whispering in a chaotic murmur! There were cries and laughter, loud shouts and hoarse growls; all these voices blended together and surged into my mind.
I held my head and shook it vigorously, trying to shake off these sounds. But no matter how much I blocked my ears, not a single sound could be stopped. The voices in my head grew louder and sharper, becoming increasingly bizarre.
A tearing pain filled my mind, and at some point, I felt a sticky liquid pooling in my palms and between my fingers. My eyes began to redden, and my nose felt painfully blocked; I could almost distinctly feel something flowing from my eyes, nose, and even my ears.
In this situation, I naturally knew what it was! Looking at the other three, it was no surprise that black-red liquid was seeping from the gaps where they covered their ears!
The human body is so fragile that such a powerful sound can cause blood to flow from all seven orifices! This was quite normal, and I wasn't particularly surprised. However, my body was becoming increasingly immobile, and due to the bleeding, my vision was blurred.
Dust and sand filled the sky, forcing me to squint my eyes to prevent the particles from getting in; otherwise, I might go blind.
Seeing that Xianxian and the others were almost sinking into the desert, I felt an overwhelming sense of urgency. Without needing to look, I knew my body was sinking as well. In this situation, all the escape methods we had discussed earlier had become ineffective!
With sand pulling me down and strong winds blowing above, even if I didn't move, I couldn't stop myself from sinking.
No amount of regret would change anything; no one expected this outcome. What had started as calm weather suddenly turned into a fierce storm, a stark contrast that was utterly unresistable!
How could this happen!?
I watched helplessly as the sand reached my neck; breathing became increasingly difficult, and my chest felt heavier with panic. I knew it wouldn't be long before we were completely buried!

It would be impossible to say I wasn't scared; no one wants to die, and I was no exception. Especially not by being buried alive—I had no desire to experience that kind of death. If given a choice of how to die, I'd prefer something more direct like slitting my throat!
Every second counted, but time slipped away. In moments like this, how I wished time could stretch out! Unfortunately, it felt like mere seconds passed before the sand reached my nose. I realized there was no time left to think of any countermeasures; at this point, all I could do was try to survive for a few more minutes. Whether someone would come to rescue us was not something I could consider right now.
I covered my nose with my hands, leaving a hollow space for breathing. Even if I sank now, there would still be a little air left. Just as my hands were placed over my mouth, another gust of wind hit me, and then the sand completely engulfed my head.

I closed my eyes and felt completely immobilized; the gap created by my hands provided no relief at all. The oxygen grew scarcer and thinner; I couldn't even dare to take a deep breath. The sensation of suffocation was incredibly uncomfortable and unbearable.
I wonder how Xue Er and the others are doing?
That silly girl must be rushing over as fast as she can, right!?
Sigh, I hope they don't come. But if they don't come, can we get out of here on our own? I'm caught in a dilemma, not knowing what to do.

First, after dinner, everyone sensed that something was off with the atmosphere. Then, the road formed by the Green Fluorescent Band suddenly lit up. Without saying a word, we headed straight for that "road." During the process, the fluorescent band gradually became transparent, and I vaguely heard strange sounds coming from afar.
Xianxian insisted on investigating despite warnings. Then suddenly, it felt like we had entered another space; the entire Desert began to move! The air was shifting! The sand was shifting! A tremendous sound shook us so hard that we bled from our eyes and noses. Just like that, throughout the entire process, we had no power to fight back and were helplessly trapped in Quicksand.
I don't know what mechanism we triggered or if we unintentionally stumbled into another space due to the shock.
In any case, everything has become unpredictable...
