Chapter 238: Seeing the Future?
Without further ado, after we packed our bags, we headed towards the nearest cave entrance, led by Lime, with Xianxian and I closely following behind.
There were quite a few people this time, but they were all familiar faces. On our side, it was still me, Lime, Xianxian, Snow Princess, Wang Yi, Fu Song, and Six People. On the other side were Cold Snow, Pei Zi, Wuma You, Black Bear, and Big Dragon. In total, there were eleven of us, dressed up as tourists. This place was a tourist attraction, so we did not raise any suspicions.
Once we entered the cave, we discovered that the space was vast and the structure was very peculiar. Some areas had layers of stacked rocks with caves within caves; others had rippling water that wound through hidden paths; and there were also towering stone pillars that appeared fantastical and mysterious.
Inside the cave, there were no murals, no statues of Buddha, and no inscriptions. Therefore, we couldn't glean any information from the exterior and had no idea about the era of its excavation. We could only marvel at our surroundings while keeping an eye out for any movements; who knows what we might discover?
As we continued to delve deeper into the cave, we noticed that some excavated stones had not been removed for some unknown reason. Additionally, there were many sections of stone walls up to 10 centimeters thick that had not been chiseled away and blocked the middle of the stone hall.
"What do you think those square and round blind holes on the stone pillars are for?" Wang Yi asked.
"Who knows?" Xianxian replied nonchalantly. After glancing at them a few times, I lost interest as well. When faced with something incomprehensible, no amount of research would help; it was better not to think about it.
There were quite a few tourists in the cave as well, but as we ventured further in, they gradually dwindled until only our group remained. At that moment, a lazy yet cheeky voice clearly rang out: "You finally made it; I've been waiting for you!"
In response to this voice, a figure suddenly emerged from behind a rock ahead. This person was dressed casually and stylishly; it was hard to imagine he was headed to such a clandestine underground location.
"What are you doing here?" Xianxian lazily glanced at the newcomer, her lips twitching slightly.
This person was Yu Yu, who had left us midway to go home. We thought he would stick to his previous agreement with his brother and stay at home but surprisingly arrived here even earlier than us—how strange!
"Hehe," Yu Yu said lazily as he leaned against the rock, looking at us with a half-smile. "Is it so strange for me to come here?" He innocently blinked his eyes as if putting on an act of innocence.
We had long since figured out his carefree personality and could only shake our heads in exasperation. Thus, our group grew from eleven to twelve people. Of course, this count did not include those from the Spirit Department.
The people in the Spirit Department were feeling a bit down due to not being able to help us in the Paradise Spirit Tower. However, upon learning that we were heading to a more hidden and mysterious place, everyone was eager to take action. I was naturally very pleased about this.
“Lime, have you been here before?” I asked quietly while leaning closer to Lime. It wasn't that I didn't trust the others, but I was no longer completely confident.
Lime subtly nodded, and this scene excited both me and Xianxian. I no longer worried about finding the entrance to the mysterious Underworld and let Lime lead the way.
After walking for a day without reaching the end, everyone was exhausted, so we decided to rest for the night. There was no need for anyone to keep watch, and at this moment, the people from the Spirit Department clearly proved their worth. Yu Yu merely raised an eyebrow at me with a half-smile and said nothing.
Although we hadn't known each other for long, I knew that Yu Yu was likely aware of many of our secrets—what he should know and what he shouldn't. Despite this, I felt no need to explain anything to him.
Even though our group had collaborated several times, there was still an unspoken division between the two parties resting in different areas. Pei Zi didn't know that Lime knew the route, so he took Big Dragon with him to scout ahead.
Xianxian, Lime, and I continued to sit together, but this time Snow Princess and Cold Snow joined us. Snow Princess was one of Xianxian's people, so she was someone we could trust. As for Cold Snow, although she belonged to Azure Dragon, we spoke freely around her. I believed she wouldn't betray us; this was also an opportunity for her. If she did betray us… then there would be nothing more to say.
“We initially speculated that those who were 'failed experiments' were Shara, but it seems that's not the case,” I said as I sat cross-legged on the ground, resting my chin on one hand in frustration. Many of our previous assumptions had been ruthlessly overturned along the way; whether this was good or bad remained uncertain… We still didn't fully understand this world, or perhaps we had never truly recognized it.
“Although all clues indicate that it's real, This Lord knows one thing: some people will absolutely not deceive us. Therefore, regardless of how real those clues may seem, we must tear off their false facade, right?” Xianxian said with a raised eyebrow at Lime when she spoke the last two words, clearly including Lime in her reference to “some people.”
Lime nodded. His dark and calm eyes still resembled a still pond, but I could see a slight ripple within them.
“Xue Er, are you okay?” Upon hearing Snow Princess's concerned inquiry, I looked at Cold Snow with my Consciousness activated. This glance made me frown involuntarily; ever since we separated in the maze, her complexion seemed to have been poor. I initially thought she was just having nightmares as she claimed, but hadn’t this nightmare lasted too long?
“Xue Er?” I held her hand and felt it was cold while her palm was sweating. I gently asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m fine…” Cold Snow bit her lip and shook her head softly.
But she didn’t look fine at all! Even Xianxian shot me a doubtful glance; I understood the meaning behind her gaze clearly. Still, I didn’t want to believe it. Holding onto her hand tightly, just as I was about to pull her into my arms for comfort, she suddenly collapsed onto my lap and began to cry.
Although there were no sounds of crying, I knew she was crying. Snow Princess and Xianxian noticed it too, and they looked at me with questioning eyes, as if asking what I had done to her. I blinked innocently and confusedly; I shouldn't have done anything... right?
"I... saw..." A faint voice came from beneath that dark head. The voice was soft and trembled slightly, but we heard it clearly.
"What did you see?" I quickly asked. Something must have happened to make Cold Snow like this!
Cold Snow climbed off my lap but kept her head down. Although I couldn't see her expression, I knew she needed a lot of help right now. I pulled her into my arms and gently patted her back, hoping she could relax.
After a few seconds, Cold Snow's emotions calmed down significantly. She wiped her tears and softly said two words, "The future..."
She saw the future!?
The four of us exchanged incredulous glances. Since it was nighttime and everyone else was asleep, our side was very quiet, and our voices were low. If it weren't for our strong resolve, Cold Snow's revelation might have made us scream in shock.
Cold Snow still kept her head down. At that moment, for some reason, I clearly felt her confusion, bewilderment, and fear. Clearly, the "future" she saw was not a bright one!
"You didn't see some kind of illusion, did you?" Xianxian frowned and remarked, "If the illusions inside the Paradise Spirit Tower are second to none, then there’s probably nothing that can be called first in the world. So don’t take it to heart; it’s all fake!"
"Yes, it's all fake. No matter what you saw, don't let it bother you," I reassured her.
Cold Snow bit her lip, clearly wanting to say something but ultimately nodded in silence. She soon fell asleep in my arms.
Of course, we didn’t dwell on this matter. If only we had known... Alas, there are no 'ifs.'
After eating some food, we couldn't resist our exhaustion and soon fell asleep. Before sleeping, however, I made a trip to The Dead.

The people inside were excitedly gathering around me. Looking at the pairs of clear eyes in front of me, I couldn't help but sigh. I knew nothing about their existence or the origins of The Dead...
"What's wrong? What happened?" Jiang Feng patted my shoulder and asked with confusion.
"Things are getting more and more chaotic." I sighed, noticing everyone looking at me with curiosity. So, I picked out some key points from what I had seen and heard over the past few days to explain to them. Since they were working with me, they had the right to know all the secrets. They had placed their trust in me, and I had to be honest with them.
After saying all this, most of the people showed puzzled expressions, some even deep in thought. Even Jiang Feng furrowed his brows after hearing everything. I knew how unbelievable and confusing these matters sounded, but they had the right to know.
"That’s my important discovery from this trip. Of course, what I just said may have errors, and it’s possible that others deliberately let us know this information. Nevertheless, it has made me realize that the depths hidden in this world are even more unfathomable, and our future path will bring us closer to those depths." No one spoke below; they all looked at me, so I continued: "Regardless of what the final truth is, I will continue on this path unwaveringly. As for your requests, as I mentioned before, anyone who wants to withdraw can do so at any time. You are all my partners, so there is only one condition: no betrayal of the Ghost Alliance! Everything else is negotiable."
After finishing my words, I smiled at that group of people who appeared terrifying and powerful to others; to me, they were just a lovable yet pitiful bunch...
"Don't worry, Feng Xiao Ge, we will never betray the Ghost Alliance!"
"Yeah! Absolutely not! We will always stand by you!"
"What a mysterious path this is; we naturally want to see what the final truth looks like!"

The responses echoed in my ears for a long time, further solidifying my determination. I would definitely see this through to the end! No matter if it was the Demon Clan or the God Alliance, they shouldn't think they could toy with us!
