Chapter 241: Isolated in Despair
The sound of explosions gradually faded away. Since Cold Snow and I had moved further away, by the time I pulled her back, the place was already crowded with people. For a moment, I couldn't see what had happened ahead.
I heard gasps, and seeing the incredulous expressions on Black Bear and the others, I quickly squeezed to the front. When I looked, my goodness! It was intact! After such a massive explosion, not a single stone had been shattered!
Was it bizarre or miraculous? Perhaps both; no one knew.
After a moment of astonishment, the people in the entire team fell silent. We had never encountered such a situation before. "I didn't expect even the explosives couldn't break this. These stones don't seem very hard," Xianxian said. He then performed a spinning kick on a patch of stones, and with a "clack," several small stones fell from where Xianxian kicked them, rolling twice on the ground before coming to a stop.
Silence! An eerie silence!
No one was not surprised, yet no one spoke.
In just a few seconds, "miracle" happened again, this time right before us. The few small stones on the ground trembled twice and then began to float steadily back to their original positions. If we hadn't all witnessed it with our own eyes, we might have thought we were hallucinating...
"What do you say now?" Xianxian smirked, revealing a half-smile as he looked at me and Lime.
Before we could respond, Wang Yi spat in disbelief and said stubbornly, "Damn it, I refuse to believe this!"
"Wang Yi, don't be reckless..." Before Xianxian could finish his warning, Wang Yi had already charged toward the Invisible Barrier. Although its exact position was invisible, Wang Yi's body suddenly halted as if he had collided with a mass of dough. His strength was considerable, but the "dough" had its own resilience. Because he exerted so much force, Wang Yi's hands sank into it. In just a few seconds, with a whoosh, Wang Yi truly sank in!
First, it was the hands, then the arms and head. Due to the sudden inertia, Wang Yi suddenly leaned forward and then disappeared right before our eyes.
"This kid!" Xianxian rubbed her forehead, looking quite speechless.
None of us expected such a result. The Black Bear and Wuma You swallowed nervously, asking us what to do.
"Follow him!" Lime said briefly and walked forward without a second thought. Perhaps because Wang Yi was the first to "pass through," I saw Lime seemingly enter effortlessly.
"We should go too." I exchanged a glance with Xianxian and called out to Fu Song and the others before pulling Cold Snow along as we moved forward.
Xianxian also took Snow Princess with her as we walked together. Fu Song still didn’t show much reaction, while the Black Bear and Wuma You were just like I was when I first started—ha ha, I never expected that in less than half a year, I would have transformed so much…
Though I felt sentimental, my steps did not falter. Since I couldn't see that layer of "barrier," I had no idea when I would "collide" with it. Although I was prepared for a sudden impact, when it actually happened, I realized it didn't hurt as much as I thought. It felt like bumping into a slightly hard white bun; there was a slight resistance preventing me from going in. I immediately pushed harder, as if suddenly poking through a plastic bag. With a "pop," my finger punctured nine holes.
There was no helping it; back in the Paradise Spirit Tower, my right index finger had been bitten off halfway, and it still hadn't healed. Especially when I thought about how a severed finger had only led to a half-true clue, not only did the wound hurt, but my heart also bled! However, sometimes when focused on other things, I would occasionally forget the pain in my finger.
At other times, I would be careful not to touch the wound, but this time, due to the sudden "puncture," my body instinctively leaned forward, and in that moment, my severed finger poked into the "bun," causing an immediate sharp pain!
Pain aside, gritting my teeth helped me endure it. Moreover, unexpectedly, things became easier afterward. As the resistance suddenly vanished, I felt a pulling force drawing at my hands. The pull grew stronger, and I watched helplessly as I was completely sucked in. Naturally, I didn’t resist; just like that, within seconds after being "sucked" in, when I turned around to look, there wasn’t a single person around!
I was instantly stunned. Cold Snow, Xianxian, Snow Princess, and I had all entered together; logically speaking, we should all be in the same place!
But why was I the only one left?
Where did everyone else go?
What about Wang Yi and Lime, who came in first?
Countless questions emerged, and as soon as the questions appeared, answers followed. It seems that everyone who was "sucked" in has been scattered to different places!
Was the person who designed this trying to isolate us from the start, allowing us to be "picked off" slowly amidst despair and fear?
If that's the case, I have to admire that person!
When we first encountered this situation, morale had already begun to wane. Now, with such chaos, morale has completely shattered...
Waiting in place is useless; it's better to take a step forward and see what happens! I had originally planned to discuss things with Lime and Xianxian, but now it seems I have no choice but to act alone!
Although this isn't the first time I've faced such a situation, walking alone in unknown darkness inevitably brings out feelings of fear. Reluctantly, I summoned a few individuals from The Dead.
Haha, fortunately, I had the foresight to gather ten people, including Yang Bin, into The Dead before moving on. As for the others, I had already assigned them tasks: to note down any useful clues they came across. That's why I didn't gather everyone into The Dead and let them wander outside. After all, an individual can only walk one path; this place is so vast that it's impossible to explore everywhere. Therefore, I had to leave other areas to the Spirit Department members. Given their Spirit status, it's unlikely they would encounter any issues. Of course, if they run into something abnormal like the Paradise Spirit Tower, then there's nothing more to say.
"Feng Xiao Ge," Yang Bin greeted me as soon as he appeared. He was surprised to see that I was alone...
