Village Uncle and One Gun Brother led three young men, carrying a big bear weighing over 300 pounds. As they entered the village, they were surrounded by curious villagers and little kids.
Yezhi, however, quietly returned home first. Aunt Zhou smiled as she welcomed Yezhi back safely, saying, "Finally back! Ever since you went up the mountain, I've been restless."
Little Black Bear seemed to want to greet Aunt Zhou, lifting its round head that was nestled in Yezhi's neck. "Oh my, Yezhi, how come you have a little bear on your back?"
Yezhi held Little Black Bear's fluffy, chubby front paws and laughed. After deciding to raise Little Black Bear, she had taken it from One Gun Brother's hands. The little bear twisted and bit while growling fiercely. Yezhi had no choice but to let it go on the ground, watching it waddle away before pulling it back again. This back-and-forth game delighted her, and Xiao Fang clapped in approval. One Gun Brother couldn't stand it anymore and warned Yezhi, "Bear-like creatures have their tempers; if you provoke it, it'll see you as an enemy."
This statement hit Yezhi like a bolt from the blue; she felt both soft and tender inside. In reality, she was the little bear's mother's enemy. Seeing that he had genuinely scared Yezhi, One Gun Brother awkwardly handed her a few bright red wild fruits he found somewhere. "Feed it."
Yezhi carefully offered the wild fruits to Little Black Bear's long mouth. It sniffed and opened its big mouth, munching happily. Yezhi joyfully stuffed the remaining fruits into its mouth. Having tasted the sweetness, Little Black Bear and Yezhi quickly became close through this exchange of food.
Yezhi excitedly shared with Aunt Zhou the story of how she came to have Little Black Bear and expressed her determination to raise it. Aunt Zhou didn't oppose but began to worry about food since this bear-like creature had quite an appetite.
"Sister Ye, my dad asked me to find out how to divide the bear meat," One Egg rushed into Aunt Zhou's yard like a gust of wind. Yezhi was busy giving Little Black Bear a bath in a large wooden basin while wiping her water-drenched face and didn't notice One Egg's strange gaze. She said, "I don't want my share of bear meat; give it to the villagers instead. It's rare for everyone to have some meat. As for the rest—bear paws, bear skin, bear bile... just sell them as your dad suggested!"
"Sister Ye, is that white stuff on this bear-like creature what you used last time for me to wash my hands? That fragrant soap?" One Egg asked incredulously.
"Yes!" Yezhi nodded.
"Then what you just fed the bear-like creature was my 'favorite' peanut candy?" One Egg asked with a pout.
Yezhi replied proudly, "Yes! Once this little black bear gets wet, it goes wild. I cleverly crushed the peanut candy into small pieces to feed it; at least it's calmed down a bit."
One Egg huffed angrily and ran off. Yezhi was confused by his reaction; why was he sulking? Aunt Zhou couldn't help but laugh and said, "One Egg is jealous!" Yezhi thought to herself: What is there to be jealous about?
"Girl, even your aunt is a bit jealous! I usually can't bear to use this fragrant soap; now this little bear-like creature has used up most of it in just one bath!" Aunt Zhou said half-jokingly and half-pained.
Yezhi didn't know how to respond. From an 80s perspective, her actions seemed wasteful. However, since Little Black Bear had been living in the mountains, she felt uneasy not giving it a proper wash; she wasn't worried about dirt but rather about lice. Clearing her throat and wanting to change the subject, she prepared to speak.
The village loudspeaker announced Village Uncle's cheerful voice informing everyone about distributing bear meat.
Yezhi had already discussed with Aunt Zhou that they wouldn't take any bear meat; Aunt Zhou agreed but for different reasons: Aunt Zhou was concerned about Yezhi's health and feared another allergic reaction. Although Barefoot said she was fine, her dark complexion always made people uneasy about her health. Yezhi's feelings were entirely maternal; she felt like she was raising Little Black Bear in place of its mother while also eating its mother's meat—something she couldn't bring herself to do!
After giving Little Black Bear a bath, Yezhi did something that made Aunt Zhou feel immense pain. Aunt Zhou watched helplessly as one, two, three brand new white towels were used to wipe the wet Little Black Bear. Aunt Zhou felt a bit of a headache; this girl was too wasteful. If she were to get married, how would her in-laws handle it? It seemed she needed to teach her daughter how to be frugal.
Yezhi was still unaware that her difficult days were about to come; she was just smiling foolishly at the uncooperative Little Black Bear.
During this time, One Gun Brother came by, dropped off some Bear Bones and half a Muntjac, then hurriedly left.
After Yezhi set up a simple nest for Little Black Bear by the kang, Aunt Zhou called her to eat. On the kang table were Corn Cake and Vegetable Soup. Yezhi took a couple of bites of the cake and then stuffed it into Little Black Bear's mouth. After sipping some Vegetable Soup, she shared half a bowl with Little Black Bear, which made Aunt Zhou sigh. "Aunt, what's wrong? Are you worried about food? The little bear doesn't eat much; I can share my rations with it and find some wild fruits. It'll be fine." Aunt Zhou raised an eyebrow, "Right now it's small, but what about when it grows up?" She had no idea how much an adult bear would eat. Yezhi smiled cheerfully and said, "Who cares? We'll deal with it when it grows up."
This girl was so carefree, as if the sky could fall and she wouldn't mind. Aunt Zhou still couldn't understand why Yezhi had jumped into the river back then or why she had rushed down a path of no return!

The night was deep, and lying on the kang, Aunt Zhou couldn't sleep. Ever since Yezhi settled down, her worries had increased. Previously, she only wanted to cherish the days spent with her daughter; now she wanted her daughter to live a happy and joyful life. Yezhi was already 20 years old; in Zhoujiatun, she was considered an old girl. She couldn't stay with her forever; she needed to find someone caring to live a beautiful life of her own. Aunt Zhou thought of all the strong young men in Zhoujiatun but found none worthy of her daughter. Sigh! Even if she got married, Aunt Zhou worried—especially about the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship. How could carefree Yezhi manage a household...!
While Aunt Zhou was troubled by these thoughts, Yezhi went to the Brilliant Universe Auction House to sell Bear Bones. The same Old Man with Long Beard who had received her and Xiao Fang last time greeted them again. He looked disapproving as he said, "Madam, this is indeed a good item; there are records of this animal from 100,000 years ago on Cabrera Planet!" Yezhi and Xiao Fang exchanged smiles as if they could see golden Bodeton raining down on them!
"Madam, your cruel method of extracting bones will make the auction house liable for legal consequences; we can only offer you 100,000 Bodeton." The Old Man with Long Beard looked green-faced and very resistant. If it weren't for the cunning glint in his eyes that flashed by, Yezhi would have truly believed he wasn't interested.
"Master, what the old man said is true; if the auction house accepts bloody Bear Bones, it will violate the Bodria Animal Protection Clause and could be sued!" Xiao Fang chimed in honestly. Yezhi glared at Xiao Fang, "Why didn't you remind me!" Xiao Fang scratched his head sheepishly and said, "Xiao Fang forgot!" Originally confident about raising the purchase price, Yezhi suddenly felt deflated.
With 100,000 Bodeton in hand, Yezhi and Xiao Fang stepped onto a road interwoven with light beams and arrived at Cosmic Mall. They instantly teleported into the last pet shop they visited called The Cheapest in the Universe.
"Oh~ Hohho! Welcome!" The shopkeeper who had been smiling broadly suddenly frowned upon seeing Yezhi and Xiao Fang.
"Hi~!" Yezhi raised her right hand to greet the shopkeeper.
"Hohho~! Dear customer, please wait a moment!" The Pig Ear Shop Owner said before turning around and walking into the store. Five minutes later, he warmly led Yezhi and Xiao Fang into a shop adorned with Blue Silk Ribbons.
"Hoh~ Esteemed Dear Customer Miss, the Cilou Dog has already embarked on its journey to Earth!"
"Oh~!" Yezhi's exclamation made the Pig Ear Shop Owner's ears perk up angrily; his heart bled at how precious the Cilou Dog was but only received an indifferent "oh" from its owner.
Xiao Fang wandered around the store and said to his master, "Master, this store is about to go out of business; there’s nothing left to sell. Let's go to another one."
You cursed crow's mouth! The Pig Ear Shop Owner gritted his teeth and asked, "Dear Customer Miss, what do you need?"
"Pet Food."
The Pig Ear Shop Owner led the two of them to a laser shelf. Originally empty, the shelf was now filled to the brim as they approached. Xiao Fang exclaimed, ignoring the owner's awkwardness, and explained to her master that the reason it was not visible was because the owner had activated the invisible function for theft prevention.
Hearing Xiao Fang's words, Yezhi felt a bit angry and glared at the Pig Ear Shop Owner. The owner rubbed his nose and said, "At most, I can give you a 20% discount later."
Yezhi didn't show it on her face, but inside she was overjoyed as she picked up a pack of green sunflower-shaped biscuits. After the Pig Ear Shop Owner had exhausted his sales pitch, he finally managed to satisfy Yezhi, who was a picky customer. After applying the discount, she paid 14400 Bodeton. Xiao Fang followed the Pig Ear Shop Owner to the counter to handle the express delivery procedures. Yezhi stared at the empty store and found it uninteresting.
"Master, we can go now," Xiao Fang bounced over to Yezhi's side. The Pig Ear Shop Owner bowed as he sent them out of the store but didn't say a word: "Welcome, please come again."
Back in the lobby of Cosmic Mall, adorned with cloud lamps, Yezhi instructed Xiao Fang to pull up a pharmacy store and find sellers of Nutrient while she comfortably lounged on the Silver Soft Sofa. In mid-air above the lobby, a 3D advertisement screen displayed a handsome guy with golden hair walking into view. "Welcome everyone to Cosmic Mall; it's now Cosmic Mall's hottest minute."
"Master, Xiao Fang found two stores."
Yezhi straightened up, preparing to teleport when a familiar voice echoed in her ear: "1234, 2234, 3234..." She looked up and saw that the screen was showing her talent performance from when she participated in the Ugliest Star competition!
Yezhi exclaimed, "What... what is going on?"
