When Aunt Zhou mentioned this to Yezhi in the evening, Yezhi was so furious that she felt like her lungs were going to explode. In her anger, she insisted that Aunt Zhou let her go to the Field to drive those outsiders away. So, she gave two flying dragons to that group of outsiders, genuinely feeling sorry for them.
After finishing the mountain gathering, Yezhi rested at home for two days. On the third day, she organized a gathering for the Kids, with Er Niu as the main character. To make Er Niu happy, Black Treasure was dressed up in a self-sewn floral skirt by its beloved "Mama Bear." A red azalea was stuck on Black Treasure's round head, and the Kids were amused by Black Treasure's fresh and quirky outfit. Er Niu was, of course, laughing heartily, while Black Treasure showed no awareness of being laughed at. Its skin was as thick as its "Mama Bear," and it strutted around proudly, occasionally touching its floral skirt and swaying its round bottom in a "catwalk." Even Aunt Zhou couldn't help but laugh until her stomach hurt at Black Treasure's funny and proud appearance. Xiao Fang chased after Black Treasure, capturing its cute antics with quick snaps and even started filming short clips, completely forgetting the task of taking photos for Everyone.
No gathering would be complete without food. Yezhi brought out bowls of pine nuts, hazelnuts, and kiwis for the Kids to enjoy. She also made honey-glazed yam using emerald honey purchased from the Cosmic Mall Website. This honey-glazed yam was a hit among the Kids, but Black Treasure loved it the most. It guarded the bowl containing the honey-glazed yam and licked it a hundred times, drooling excessively, which made Everyone burst into laughter. Unable to bear it any longer, Yezhi went back to the kitchen and mixed a spoonful of honey for it. Er Niu sweetly said, "Sister Ye is the best at pampering Black Treasure!"
Yezhi laughed and replied, "It's indulgence! Maybe I've spoiled Black Treasure."
"Not at all! Black Treasure is just as honest and simple as I am!" One Egg defended his good buddy. The dog barked at One Egg, "Come on! Honest and simple? It's clearly a big fool!"
That day, Yezhi's small courtyard was filled with laughter and joy. Passersby couldn't help but peek inside; anyone who entered wouldn't leave empty-handed—whether it was two or three kiwis or a handful of pine nuts or hazelnuts—the cheerful atmosphere infected everyone.
"Sister Ye! Sister Ye!"
Before seeing anyone, Yezhi heard their voices. With a smile on her face, she opened the courtyard door. Soon after, One Egg rushed into the yard like a gust of wind. Black Treasure stepped forward to give One Egg a friendly hug.
"Black Treasure! Did you miss me? I missed you!" One Egg said in an overly sentimental tone, prompting Yezhi to kick him lightly and scold him with a laugh: "You little rascal! We just saw each other at yesterday's gathering; what are you missing?"
One Egg rubbed his sore backside and complained with his dark bun face: "Sister Ye! Teacher Xiao said that one day apart feels like three autumns; I haven't seen Black Treasure for three autumns! Can't I miss it?"
Yezhi playfully tapped One Egg on the forehead. "You’re getting bold now; have you learned to talk back?"
"Sister Ye, please don't be so violent! I'm really worried Teacher Xiao will not want you anymore!" One Egg said with a troubled expression.
Yezhi was truly angry this time. While hitting One Egg on the head, she scolded, "You little brat, I have nothing to do with your Teacher Xiao. If you keep talking nonsense, I'll tear your mouth apart."
One Egg covered his head and ran around, laughing as he said, "Sister Ye, I'm not afraid of having a big mouth. A big mouth can eat from all directions; having a big mouth brings good fortune!" Unable to catch One Egg, Yezhi shouted at Black Treasure, "Hey Black Treasure, One Egg wants to wrestle with you!"
Black Treasure, who loved wrestling, shook his head and eagerly ran towards One Egg. The two began to wrestle fiercely. In the past, Black Treasure had only been bullied by Kids, but now it finally turned the tables. One Egg was pinned under Black Treasure's hefty backside and couldn't move. "Hey Sister Ye, you're being unfair! Black Treasure, we're buddies; how can you sit on me like this?"
"One Egg, how's Er Niu doing?" Yezhi asked while rocking in her chair.
"Sister Ye, didn't you see Er Niu just yesterday? Why are you asking again?" Yezhi shook her head. Boys could be so careless; she was just worried that Er Niu might have some psychological trauma.
Struggling and sweating profusely, One Egg replied irritably, "Sister Ye, Er Niu looks fine; nothing seems different. Please tell Black Treasure to move his big butt!"
Since that incident, Yezhi had been keeping an eye on Er Niu. From the initial two days of silence to now being able to run and laugh, she finally felt relieved. However, psychological trauma is not something that disappears quickly.
Yezhi got up and patted Black Treasure, who was sitting on top of One Egg. Proudly, Black Treasure waved its paw at Yezhi, looking like a mighty warrior.
Wiping the sweat off his forehead, One Egg gasped, "Oh my gosh, Black Treasure is so heavy! I can't take it anymore!"
Yezhi teased One Egg, then took out four steamed Yam from the kitchen. She stuffed one into a large Cloth Bag, handed one to One Egg, and fed one to Black Treasure. "Let's go!" Following Yezhi, One Egg peeled off the thin skin of the yam. The snow-white flesh emitted a faint medicinal aroma and was soft and delicious.
The three of them followed Xiao Fang into the deep mountains, arriving by a babbling brook. Yezhi called out into the dense forest for Wolf Child.
Before long, rustling sounds came from within the woods. Yezhi knew that Wolf Child had arrived. "Master, Wolf Child is hiding in the pine tree 10 meters ahead," said Xiao Fang, transmitting what he had discovered to his master.
"Sister Ye, where is Sister?" Ever since Sister Ye mentioned Sister, he had been eager to come and see her. He had pestered Sister Ye for many days before she finally agreed to take him up the mountain.
"Wolf Child, come down! This is the One Egg I told you about, the one you've met before." The light blue voice waves of Pet Communicator spread out in circles.
Wolf Child carefully observed One Egg from the tree. Feeling no danger, he climbed down but did not approach them. Yezhi smiled and waved at Wolf Child, "Come over! I brought your favorite Sugar Balls!"
One Egg enthusiastically moved some large stones for Yezhi and Sister to sit on. Yezhi sat down on the stone without hesitation, while Wolf Child stood still. Black Treasure, who had become familiar with Wolf Child, happily ran over and hugged him before nudging him with his round head to join Yezhi and the others.
"Sit down!" Yezhi urged Wolf Child to take a seat, pulling out Yam and yellow paper-wrapped Sugar Balls to stuff into her arms. One Egg, sitting next to Sister with a bright smile, looked at Wolf Child and grinned foolishly. His silly expression made Yezhi want to distance herself from him. Wolf Child also felt that One Egg's smile was not sincere and held tightly onto the things in his arms. "One Egg, go pick some wild fruits," Yezhi suggested, sending One Egg off while asking Xiao Fang to follow for safety.
Once One Egg left, Wolf Child immediately felt relaxed and happy. With Sugar Balls in his mouth, he played a game of tag with Black Treasure, his strange and loud laughter echoing through the forest. This made One Egg, who was far away, feel uneasy as he hurried back holding several Asian Pears. "Sister Ye, I'm back!"
Wolf Child, who had been having so much fun, suddenly lost his smile. He waved goodbye to Yezhi and dashed into the dense forest. One Egg chased after him shouting, "Sister, I still have pears! Let's eat before we go!"
Yezhi got up and stopped One Egg. "Why are you running? It's your first time meeting her; being this enthusiastic might scare her."
"How can it be my first time meeting her? Sister Ye, you taught me math! This is our third meeting!" One Egg exclaimed while counting on his fingers.
"Alright, third meeting. After you meet her six or seven more times, then you can show your care and enthusiasm for Wolf Child!" One Egg nodded as if he understood.
The sun was setting in the west, and the deep mountain forest grew darker and more perilous. Yezhi urged Xiao Fang to lead the way as they hurried down the mountain back to the village.
