"Here we are." Looking at the six-story building with the golden characters "Tiandu Group" on the roof, Chuyang let out a sigh of relief. After taking several trips and asking many people, he finally found this place. It was fortunate that Tiandu Group was a well-known company; otherwise, in a time without smartphones and apps like Baidu Maps or Amap, finding a location or a company would not have been easy.
"Brother Chuyang, does Lexington Sister work here?" Firefly curiously gazed at the splendidly decorated entrance of Sky City Corporation on the first floor, occasionally brushing her hair away from her face with her fingers.
There was no helping it; at that moment, Firefly's hairstyle was not her signature twin ponytails but rather long hair cascading over her shoulders. After spending half an hour trying to style Firefly's hair into acceptable ponytails and only making it messier, Chuyang decided to give up. He simply used a comb to smooth out Firefly's golden medium-length hair and left it at that.
However, it should be noted that Firefly had always worn twin ponytails since she could remember. Suddenly switching to long hair made little Kiddo feel somewhat uncomfortable, especially with the hair brushing against her cheeks, causing her to occasionally fidget with it.
"Yes, it's right here." Chuyang nodded, no longer hesitating. He took Firefly's small hand and walked toward the entrance.
"Sir, may I ask what you need?" The receptionist politely inquired.
"Hello, is there a girl named Lin Qing who has long flaxen hair working at your company?" Chuyang didn't know what position Lexington held at Sky City Corporation, so he could only ask this way, worried that there might be someone with the same name and thus mentioned Lexington's hair color as well.
Surprisingly, if Chuyang hadn't described it this way, there could have been a misunderstanding because there was indeed a junior staff member named Lin Qing in the business department of Sky City Corporation. However, upon hearing this description, the receptionist quickly realized who Chuyang was referring to.
"Sir, are you looking for General Manager Lin Qing?" The receptionist looked at Chuyang with some suspicion. As the Executive President of Tiandu Group, Lexington was quite famous in the business circles of Rong City. Due to her outstanding appearance, many young talents often sought her out for meetings, hoping to win her affection. Could it be that this person was also one of them? But bringing a child along was puzzling.
"Yes, we are looking for her." Chuyang's expression brightened; he was genuinely worried that he would not know where to find Lexington if the information he received was incorrect.
"I'm sorry, sir. If you are indeed looking for our Executive President Lin Qing, then you are too late. She resigned half an hour ago." The receptionist replied. Half an hour earlier, she had received notification from the HR department that Executive President Lin Qing had left the company. If anyone came to visit Lin Qing for personal matters, she was instructed to inform them and send them away.
"She has left the company, so where is she now?" Chuyang asked anxiously. He was worried about what might happen; if he couldn't see Lexington today, he truly wouldn't know what to do.
"An hour ago, President Lin already left the company. As for where she went, I don't know. However, she left with two large suitcases, so it seems she must be going far," the receptionist told Chuyang everything she knew.
"Brother Chuyang, it's all your fault. If you hadn't slept in this morning, we would have arrived much earlier," Firefly said, glaring at Chuyang.
Knowing they were coming to find Lexington Sister today, Kiddo had woken up very early, but Chuyang had slept like a dead pig and couldn't be woken no matter how hard they tried. By the time Firefly finally managed to shake him awake, it was already eight o'clock. After washing up and getting ready, it was half past eight. They had also delayed on the road for quite some time, which is why they arrived so late. If only Chuyang had woken up an hour earlier, perhaps the outcome would have been completely different.
Faced with Kiddo's accusations, Chuyang really had no way to defend himself. After all, he had stayed up late thinking about things and didn't fall asleep until five in the morning.
"If I had known, I would have bitten you," Firefly's words could easily be misunderstood. In reality, that morning, because she couldn't wake Chuyang no matter what, Kiddo had planned to bite his arm but hesitated for fear of hurting him. If she had known it would turn out like this now, Kiddo would have undoubtedly left a mark on Chuyang's arm with her little teeth.
"Sigh!" Chuyang couldn't help but feel a bit downcast. Just as he was about to leave with Firefly, he heard the receptionist speaking to a middle-aged man who had just come in from outside: "Master Xie, you're finally back! Where have you been? The HR department has been looking for you."
"Oh, I just drove President Lin somewhere," Xie Tao said nervously. He wondered if President Lin's resignation meant he would also lose his job.
"It's good news; I've heard that..."
"Master Xie, please tell me where Lin Qing went!" Chuyang looked at Xie Tao excitedly. How could he not be excited? Just when he thought he had lost all leads, here came Master Xie who had driven Lexington away.
"Who are they?" Xie Tao turned to look at the receptionist.
"I don't know either, but they are here looking for President Lin."
"Who are you to Mr. Lin?" Xie Tao asked with a hint of caution. He had been following Lexington for a year and had never seen Chuyang and Firefly, so he naturally felt a bit wary.
As for the encounter at the Naval Academy gate yesterday morning, Xie Tao had long forgotten it. Besides, Chuyang was in military uniform at that time, while now he was dressed in all black casual wear, making it hard for Xie Tao to recognize him.
Although Chuyang recognized Xie Tao, it didn't matter; he was looking for Lexington, not this middle-aged man.

Unfortunately, Xie Tao's words were merely spoken to the air, as Chuyang and Firefly had already disappeared from sight.
