“Admiral, what are your plans next?” Veneto asked as she casually took the steamed bun that Chuyang handed her, beginning to eat it carefully. Due to her short stature, Loli couldn't reach the buns placed on the plate across the table.
Today's breakfast wasn't particularly lavish, but it was purely traditional Chinese. There was thick congee made with rice and red dates, soft steamed buns, and under Chuyang's guidance, Kayo and Aviere prepared scrambled eggs, spicy and sour shredded potatoes, and a plate of cold sliced asparagus.
Initially, Chuyang was worried that they might not be accustomed to Chinese food, but looking at them now, it was clear he had overthought it. Just by observing their proficiency with chopsticks, it was evident that they had eaten Chinese food frequently before and their eating habits were not purely Western.
“I plan to go out shopping with Richelieu.”
Although it wasn't ideal to go out on such a snowy day, since he had promised Richelieu yesterday to accompany her shopping, Chuyang would not go back on his word. Besides, this was a big city, not a rural area where heavy snow could block the roads. Even if one wanted to go out, it would be impossible. But in Blanca, there was no such concern; at least the snow on the streets would be cleared by sanitation workers, so aside from the slippery roads, there really wasn’t much inconvenience.
“I want to go too! I want to go too!” Carmicia chimed in, tapping the edge of her bowl with her chopsticks.
“Be quiet! Do you have no manners? Only beggars tap their bowls with chopsticks; it's simply disgraceful,” Veneto scolded.
Big Sister was someone who valued etiquette greatly; aside from her contrasting loli figure, every movement she made exuded a hint of noble elegance.
In fact, at the entire dining table, aside from Chuyang who still maintained a rough eating style, everyone else ate quite elegantly. Even Carmicia, who Veneto had scolded as a beggar, was leagues ahead of Chuyang in terms of table manners.
“Admiral also taps his bowl with chopsticks; why don’t you say anything about him?” Carmicia pouted in dissatisfaction.
“The Admiral is the Admiral; you are you,” Veneto replied with clear double standards. In her eyes, Chuyang was simply useless, so she couldn’t be bothered to comment on him. However, Carmicia was different; as an Italian Ship Girl, Veneto felt it was her responsibility to teach them properly to avoid embarrassment in the future.
Alright! He is also a beggar. Chuyang helplessly stopped tapping his bowl with chopsticks, a habit he had developed. Compared to the elegant and slow-eating Fleet Girls, he finished his meal in less than five minutes, which seemed a bit too fast and boring! His unconscious actions were looked down upon by Veneto as those of a beggar.
"What are your plans for today?"
"I don't know when you plan to return to Naval Base, Admiral?" Prince of Wales did not directly answer Chuyang's question but instead asked one in return.
"I don't mind, as long as I get back to Naval Base before New Year's Eve," Chuyang replied. Before he left, Lexington had repeatedly reminded him that regardless of whether he found Tirpitz or not, he must return before the Spring Festival because everyone at Naval Base was waiting for him to celebrate the reunion together!
Thinking back to the first two years at Rongcheng Naval Academy, Spring Festival was always the hardest time for him. The academy would start its holiday half a month before the festival, and whether they were from out of town or local students, everyone had already packed their bags and gone home for the New Year. In the vast Admiral Branch, aside from him, there were only a few staff members left on duty. The Fleet Girl Academy was lively and even invited him to participate in the New Year's Eve party. However, the loneliness he felt inside would not change just because of a bustling environment.
But this year was different; he had a wife and a home. Even if Lexington hadn't reminded him, he would still rush back to celebrate the New Year with everyone.
"In that case, there's no rush, but we should speed things up. Veneto, how's it going on your side?" Prince of Wales put down her bowl and chopsticks.
"Everything's fine; the daily affairs of the gang are handled by Edward and his group. However, after we leave, I'm not sure if they can keep things under control," Veneto said after thinking for a moment.
When they initially established the gang, neither she nor Prince of Wales expected it to grow this large, almost replacing the entire Blanca government in maintaining order in the city.
Although as Fleet Girls they were not power-hungry, Mafia and Royal Gang were still something they built themselves. They did not want to see the gang fall into chaos without leadership after they left. Most importantly, they did not want to cause Blanca to descend into chaos again since they had lived here for so long and had some attachment to it.
Of course, if Chuyang was eager to leave, they would not hesitate to abandon everything here and follow the Admiral away.
But since they had ample time, they still wanted to arrange everything before leaving.
"Shouldn't be a problem. We'll arrange everything in the gang as soon as possible in the next few days. Once New Year's Day is over, we have to leave. The Admiral also wants to check other cities to see if there are any Fleet Girls from our Naval Base. And then there's Akagi. Since Bismarck mentioned that Akagi works at a catering company in Scarlet City, it will take quite some time to find her, so we don't have much time left," said Prince of Wales.
"Yeah, it seems we can only do it this way," Veneto nodded in agreement after thinking for a moment.
After breakfast, Prince of Wales and Veneto took Kayo and Aviere respectively to handle their gang's affairs, while Chuyang and Richelieu, under Carmicia's guidance, drove straight to the Champs-Élysées in the city center.
As a world-renowned shopping paradise, both sides of this street filled with European charm are lined with various shops and malls. Any luxury brand from around the world can be found here in dedicated stores or counters.
Being a fashionista at the forefront of trends, Richelieu naturally knows each brand very well.
So, as soon as they arrived at the Champs-Élysées and asked a few passersby for directions, Richelieu grabbed Chuyang's hand and rushed towards a nearby store.
However, upon reaching the store entrance, Richelieu suddenly pulled Chuyang away.
"What's wrong?" Chuyang asked in confusion. He could sense that Richelieu really wanted to go into that store but had ultimately stopped herself.
"It's nothing; it's just that the clothes in that store are too expensive," Richelieu explained. In the past, she used to spend whatever she earned without worries. But now it's different; the Naval Base is in its initial difficult phase, and money is needed everywhere. Although they brought quite a bit of money on this trip, it wasn't much in reality, and the clothes sold in that store were top-tier luxury brands that they might not be able to afford.
"Don't worry, Admiral, Sister Richelieu! I'll pay for everything you buy today," Carmicia said confidently while holding Chuyang's hand.
