In the brightly lit room, Isuzu was tapping away with a small hammer on a curved steel plate, which unmistakably was the front hood of an off-road vehicle.
At this moment, although the girl was covered in oil stains from head to toe, including her clothes and face, she still smiled happily, simply because she finally knew how to explain things to Admiral.
Thinking back to noon, when she saw Saratoga walking into Naval Base with a battered off-road vehicle held up by one hand, she first felt a bit worried for Saratoga, but then a sense of delight surged within her. It felt great to have a car to repair.
So, as long as no one got hurt, Isuzu secretly hoped that Saratoga would crash her vehicle a few more times. That way, her auto repair shop wouldn't seem so unnecessary...
However, she couldn't understand how the car had been damaged. The front part was almost completely caved in, and the entire frame was deformed. If it were any ordinary repair shop, they wouldn't be able to fix it at all because they lacked the capability to restore a completely warped vehicle. Even though she was a Fleet Girl with extraordinary strength and could straighten the bent frame with her bare hands without any tools, it would still take about three or four days to fully repair the car.
So, after hearing Lexington calling her for dinner, Isuzu stopped her work, tidied herself up a bit, changed into clean clothes, and headed towards the restaurant on the second floor of Comprehensive Building.
In the past, during mealtime, Saratoga would boast about her thrilling racing achievements at the dining table. But today she seemed unusually quiet, sitting properly and eating without even daring to lift her head.
"Saratoga Sister, didn't you go racing today?" Firefly asked curiously while picking at some scrambled eggs in her bowl.
To be honest, listening to Saratoga recounting her exciting racing stories during dinner had become a habit for Firefly. Now that Saratoga was so quiet, Firefly found it quite unusual.
As for Saratoga's accident, Firefly truly didn't know about it. Recently, Firefly had been going wild because Admiral wasn't at Naval Base; everyone else had their own things to do and no one could play with her. So every morning after breakfast, Firefly would ride her little bike into town to find other kids to play with and wouldn't return until after sunset.
"Shut up! You're so chatty," Saratoga glared at Firefly with annoyance.
When she returned at noon today, her sister gave her a harsh scolding, and the level of embarrassment was off the charts. She really didn't want to experience that again in the evening. However, she thought to herself, she was already a married woman; was it really appropriate for her sister to treat her like that?
"Shut up! You think you're some kind of expert? You're more like a road hazard," Andrea Doria scoffed, purely out of revenge for Saratoga not inviting her to play.
"I'm a road hazard, but I'm still better than you, who doesn't even have a driver's license, you little brat," Saratoga shot back.
Without giving Andrea Doria a chance to retort, she reached out and poked Firefly's chubby little face, saying, "Bug, what do those villagers feed you every noon? Look at you, you've gained weight."
Since her brother-in-law left, teasing Firefly had become one of Saratoga's few hobbies. As for the other Loli, Andrea Doria was just too proud; Firefly was much more fun because she was sweet and obedient.
Meanwhile, Lexington, who had been lost in thought about how to deal with the victims' families tomorrow, snapped back to reality upon hearing this and carefully examined Firefly. It seemed that her sister was right; Firefly had indeed gained some weight.
She remembered when she first met Firefly at the Naval Academy of Rongcheng. Back then, although the Loli's face was round and had some baby fat, she looked noticeably thin overall.
Now, it couldn't be said that the Loli had gotten fat; it was more accurate to say that she looked slightly chubbier. Her little bun-like face appeared even cuter.
"It's nothing special! Just some ordinary vegetables and meat," Firefly replied nonchalantly when Saratoga mentioned her weight gain.
Firefly didn't really care about Saratoga's comment because Brother Chu Yang had said that chubby and meaty things felt better to touch.
Well! This was the conclusion that Loli had drawn after eavesdropping on a conversation between Chu Yang and Richelieu.
After hearing Firefly's response, Lexington began to doubt her own cooking skills. For someone who excelled in many areas, if there was one shortcoming she had, it would probably be in cooking.
Perhaps it was due to her background! No matter how Lexington practiced, the dishes she prepared for Chinese cuisine were just average, not particularly delicious, merely at the level of ordinary home cooking. As for Western cuisine, she was skilled at it, but she couldn't serve hamburgers, fried chicken, and steaks every day! Not to mention others, even she, a pure Fleet Girl, found these foods tiresome.
To be honest, despite Admiral claiming he wasn't picky about food, he was actually more particular than any Population. The initial ship, Firefly, perfectly inherited this trait from Admiral, refusing to eat ginger, cilantro, or eggplant; in short, there were many things she wouldn't eat, which sometimes left Lexington at a loss for what to cook.
Although for the Fleet Girls, there was no need to pay attention to balanced nutrition during meals, Lexington still focused on this aspect every time she cooked. She tried to ensure a balance of meat and vegetables at each meal for nutritional balance. However, even so, Firefly didn't seem to enjoy eating much, let alone gain weight.
Now, in the short span of less than a month since Admiral left, Firefly had miraculously gained weight after frequently eating meals at the homes of residents in town. This made Lexington question herself—was her cooking really that bad that it couldn't compare to the average meals in town?
In fact, Lexington was completely mistaken. If we were to compare standards of meals, the families in town couldn't match those at the Naval Base. As for cooking skills, aside from a few housewives who might excel in certain specialty dishes compared to Lexington, most families produced average meals that couldn't compete with hers.
The root cause wasn't that the food at the Naval Base was poor; rather, it lacked the atmosphere. For young children like Firefly, meals from other households always seemed more appealing—there's a saying about "eating from a hundred families"! Unfortunately, as a Fleet Girl, Lexington didn't understand this point since she hadn't experienced it.
Dinner ended in a relatively calm atmosphere. In front of others, Lexington had to save face for her sister and couldn't say much. However, once the two sisters returned to their room, Lexington immediately changed her expression.
"What are you planning to do about tomorrow?"
