Fei Hu had been dreaming for a few hours. In his dream, Sun Li had just finished her shower and climbed onto his bed, which excited him to no end. Although he could see her lying next to him, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't touch her body, which made Fei Hu anxious.
Suddenly, Fei Hu felt a cool sensation on his nose, followed by an inability to breathe. He sat up straight in shock. There stood Sun Li in a thin, short nightgown, smiling at him from the foot of the bed. It dawned on him that he had just been dreaming; now this was the reality.
"What were you dreaming about? Tell me! You looked so funny; it was hilarious," Sun Li said, twisting her round hips as she sat down beside Fei Hu on the bed.
Fei Hu shook his head to clear his mind a bit and then smiled, "I dreamed about you!" He grinned and let his eyes wander over Sun Li. Under her gossamer nightgown, he caught glimpses of her lingerie, especially the pair of rounded curves on her chest that nearly made his eyes pop out.
"Come on, I'm right here! Why dream when you can just talk to me? Don't you think that's a waste of energy? Look, the sun is already shining on the bed. If I don't come in, it seems you'll be dreaming all day," Sun Li said as she stood up and walked toward the door.
Fei Hu admired her alluring figure and wanted to leap towards her, but he knew he couldn't act recklessly. Given the current situation, it was already a great fortune for him that Sun Li was willing to take him in.
After Fei Hu finished washing up and searched for his clothes in the bathroom, he encountered a problem. His clothes had clearly been hanging on the rack last night, but now they were nowhere to be found. Had Sun Li thrown them away?
"Hey! Stop looking! Those two old pieces of clothing? I threw them in the trash already. After breakfast, I'll buy you two new ones," Sun Li called out from the dining table while serving herself some rice.
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu felt uneasy. Wealthy people were indeed different. He resolved that one day he would also live like a wealthy person and make everyone see him in a new light.
After finishing breakfast, it was nearly ten o'clock when Sun Li tidied herself up and disappeared. Fei Hu was watching TV alone when she returned. As soon as she entered, she shouted at him, "Quickly change your clothes! We’re going downstairs to get your hair cut. Your long hair attracts too much attention; no wonder people keep staring at you."
Sun Li's words surprised Fei Hu; how had he not thought of that? Sighing to himself, he realized he was being a bit foolish.
In Sun Li's neighborhood, there was a moderately sized Barber Shop with four busy barbers inside. As soon as they arrived, a middle-aged woman who looked like the boss approached them with a smile and asked Sun Li, "Miss Sun, are you here for a haircut?"
Sun Li pointed at Fei Hu beside her and said, "For my friend."
The middle-aged woman glanced at Fei Hu and smiled, saying, "Oh! Miss Sun, your friend must be an artist, right? That hairstyle is really something. Are you getting it styled or just maintaining it?"
Fei Hu stood there like a fool without saying a word. Sun Li chuckled and said, "This hairstyle gets boring after a while. Let's give him a buzz cut! Just like the one in that picture." Sun Li pointed to a hairstyle of a Male Star on the wall.
Fei Hu secretly laughed at Sun Li, thinking that this woman was quite the actress. It seemed like they had known each other for more than just a short time.
The middle-aged woman took matters into her own hands, and as Fei Hu's long hair fell to the ground with the snip of her scissors, it looked like he was really going to change his appearance. The woman's skills were impressive; in no time, she finished cutting his hair. From Sun Li's surprised expression, Fei Hu could tell that this new hairstyle was definitely a hit. He stood in front of the large mirror, reluctant to leave, wondering if this energetic young man with the buzz cut was really him. Fei Hu could hardly believe it.
On the way back, Sun Li ran into an Old Man who, upon seeing Fei Hu, smiled and asked Sun Li, "Little Sun, is this your boyfriend? He's quite nice."
Sun Li chuckled happily.
During lunch, Sun Li told Fei Hu, "You'd better not go downstairs. Even if you do go down, don't leave the community. It's safe here for now. After some time when these people lower their guard, if you want to go out, I won't stop you."
Seeing Sun Li's concern for him made Fei Hu feel touched; they were just acquaintances after all. It was gratifying for him that she treated him this way. It seemed there were still good people in this world, and his decision to help the old man was indeed right.
For the entire afternoon, Sun Li didn't take a nap but sat in the living room chatting with Fei Hu about their pasts. When Fei Hu spoke about his childhood, Sun Li listened with her mouth agape. It turned out that this tough young man sitting in front of her had truly come from the mountains. The wildness about him wasn't an act; it was completely natural. This man was so genuine that he almost seemed out of touch with society.
The more Sun Li looked at Fei Hu, the more attractive she found him. She couldn't help but feel a surge of joy as she recalled their first meeting; she almost laughed out loud at the memory of it.
"Hey! What are you laughing about? If it's convenient, tell me about yourself," Fei Hu said. He wasn't foolish; he wanted Sun Li to share her past so he could understand her current situation better. If she had a boyfriend, staying here might get him into trouble—something he definitely wanted to avoid.
Sun Li smiled and sighed as she recounted her past to Fei Hu. She explained that her parents had immigrated to Singapore a few years ago while she stayed behind for a man. However, that unfaithful man ended up running off with the daughter of a wealthy person to settle in Australia. In frustration, Sun Li vowed never to marry for life. When she said this, her expression was calm; it seemed that this matter had left no mark on her heart—once it was over, it was as if nothing had happened.
The two chatted happily as if they were about to raise their glasses for a toast when suddenly Fei Hu thought about the Dragon Tiger Gang again. If it weren't for the trouble he had gotten into with them, things would have been so much better. Sun Li noticed Fei Hu's sudden pensive expression and gently asked, "What's wrong? What are you thinking about?"
"It's just this pill; it keeps me on edge all the time. I really don't know how valuable it is," Fei Hu said angrily as he slapped his thigh.
Sun Li shook her head and said, "It's not that this pill is valuable, but it may hide some conspiracy related to the Dragon Tiger Gang, which is why they are taking it so seriously, willing to go to any lengths, even taking your life."
Conspiracy. As soon as Fei Hu heard Sun Li's analysis, her spirits lifted. She was really clever; why hadn't she thought of this herself?
After thinking for a moment, Sun Li said to Fei Hu, "How about this? If you trust me, hand over the pill. I will extract a bit of its composition and have one of my colleagues help analyze what kind of medicine it is. Then we will know for sure."
Fei Hu thought for a moment; there was no reason not to trust her. Moreover, Sun Li's method seemed quite good. She got up and went to the restroom. The pill had been kept in a small pocket in her underwear, meaning it had been with her twenty-four hours a day.
Sun Li took the pill and examined it for a while before returning to her room. She found a small glass bottle and opened the pill. Inside was a white powder. Sun Li carefully placed the pill into the glass bottle. Throughout this process, it was clear that Sun Li was a very meticulous woman.
At six o'clock in the afternoon, after finishing dinner with Fei Hu, Sun Li went to work. Feeling bored alone, Fei Hu turned on the television. When he flipped to the local channel, a job advertisement caught his attention: Shengwei Group was hiring five security guards, with preference given to those with experience in martial arts. The recruitment would take place next Friday.
Oh my! This is a great opportunity; it's perfect for me! I have experience and I know martial arts. Thinking of this made Fei Hu restless. There were still several days until next Friday, and his arm injury was healing nicely. Besides, with his new hairstyle and the clothes that Sun Li bought for him, he would no longer resemble the rustic country boy he once was. Ha ha! With this thought, Fei Hu couldn't help but laugh proudly.
Just then, his Nokia phone, which had been silent for two days, rang again. This antique phone had great quality; it lasted a long time on a single charge and was also water-resistant. Fei Hu rushed into the room and picked up the phone; it was Fat Girl calling. He quickly answered, and Fat Girl's sweet voice came through the receiver: "Long Hair, where are you? Why didn't you come back last night? Did something happen?"
Hearing Fat Girl's concerned voice, Fei Hu hurriedly replied, "I'm fine, Fat Girl. I've had some things going on these past few days and might not be coming back to stay. Please keep an eye on my room; make sure your mom doesn't rent it out to someone else."
"Don't worry about that; I'll keep an eye on it as long as you're okay," Fat Girl said before hanging up.
Fei Hu felt happy inside; it seemed there were still people who cared about him.
