Xia Yan finally came to her senses after a long while. She asked Fei Hu in disbelief, "What on earth is going on? How could this scoundrel be with that shameless woman?" Xia Yan was extremely confused, tugging at her hair in frustration. It seemed she had lost not only money but also her heart.
Fei Hu patted her shoulder and said, "Don't be upset. This bastard set you up; they are in cahoots. You should believe it now!"
Suddenly, Xia Yan pushed Fei Hu away and shouted through gritted teeth, "I want to kill them! My hard-earned money is all gone!" Fei Hu grabbed Xia Yan's arm and didn't let go. Letting her go would only send her to her doom; how could she kill anyone? She was powerless.
"Stop making a scene! Don't you think you've caused enough trouble already?" Fei Hu shouted, instantly silencing Xia Yan. She looked at him with pitiful eyes, utterly helpless.
A woman living in such an environment—Fei Hu understood her struggles. The most detestable one was Ye Wu, who was like a parasite. Being hunted down repeatedly might also be related to him. Now he was using such despicable means against a woman; he was no better than a beast.
Suddenly, a strange thought crossed Fei Hu's mind. This guy had obtained ill-gotten gains; if he could find a way to take it back, it would be justified. Moreover, if this money went missing, Ye Wu wouldn't dare report it. With this thought in mind, Fei Hu immediately said to Xia Yan, "You wait here and drive the car to the alley up ahead. It's best to cover the license plate."
Xia Yan looked at him with suspicion. "What are you doing? We won't do anything illegal; I can't drag you into this," she said, sensing Fei Hu's unusual behavior and feeling worried.
Fei Hu smiled and said, "Trust my intelligence and abilities. I won't do anything reckless; I just want to get back what we deserve." As he spoke, he took off his suit jacket and loosened his tie. Just as Xia Yan was still in shock, Fei Hu yanked the scarf from around her neck, opened the car door, and stealthily made his way toward the alley where Ye Wu had just entered.
Seeing this made Xia Yan's heart race. She began to understand what Fei Hu meant; this situation had dragged this good person into trouble. To be honest, she felt a bit guilty.
It was already past two in the morning, and there were hardly any pedestrians on the street. Occasionally, a car would zoom by. The small alley left behind from demolitions felt unusually desolate, with a few nearly retired light bulbs casting dim light that gave the alley an indescribable sense of terror. When Fei Hu reached the entrance of the alley, he tied the scarf he had taken from Xia Yan around his mouth; he was about to do something that heroes often did in movies.
The alley was flanked by tall buildings, but for some reason, there were still a few low houses remaining. As Fei Hu quietly entered, he realized the place was too small—there were less than five families living there—and it was a dead-end alley. This meant that Ye Wu and her accomplices must be in one of those houses since there was no way out ahead.
Heaven truly does not disappoint those who are determined. In the last building, the lights were on in the windows of both the first and second floors, which undoubtedly pointed Fei Hu in the right direction. At this late hour, the people with the lights on must still be awake, and Ye Wu and her companions had just arrived not long ago. Who else could it be?
Fei Hu quietly approached the courtyard entrance. It was a stroke of luck; this rundown house had no courtyard walls, allowing Fei Hu to easily reach the window on the first floor. One of the glass panes was broken and covered with a piece of paper, which was likely falling apart due to age. Cautiously, Fei Hu lifted her head and peered through the hole in the torn paper. Inside, she saw Yellow-Haired Xiao Si leaning against the window, lying on a shabby sofa, while another blonde sat in a chair with her arms crossed over her shoulders, resting her head against the wall, looking drowsy.
Fei Hu found herself in a dilemma. It seemed they were staying separately; would the money in their bag be upstairs or downstairs? Just as she was pondering this, a voice came from inside: "Fourth Brother, just go to sleep! The money is upstairs anyway, and it's meant for that woman. What does it have to do with us? We've risked our lives for him but have never seen him generous. He gives several tens of thousands to a woman who looks so plain."
"You don't know anything. This Miss Wang is our boss's old flame, almost like a first love. When our boss was down and out, she helped him out. This time she helped him earn so much money; do you think giving her several tens of thousands would hurt our boss?" This was Little Four's voice; it seemed he knew quite a bit about Ye Wu's affairs, no wonder he had become Ye Wu's confidant.
This was truly speaking through the wall while someone outside listened. Fei Hu couldn't help but feel delighted. She turned around and discovered that the staircase to the second floor was right behind her. It seemed that tonight's plan could be accomplished.
Fei Hu quietly ascended to the second floor and reached the window where the light was on. However, this window was intact; what should she do? Suddenly, she heard voices coming from beneath the door. Fei Hu quickly stepped back and pressed her head against it. It was Miss Wang's playful voice: "Brother Ye, it's been years since we last met, and your skills have declined! You say you're going to tire me out? I think it's you who will be worn out first."
"Hehe, you’re much more flirtatious than in previous years. I'm no match for you; I surrender," Ye Wu laughed.
"Surrendering isn't enough; you need to give me something affordable. Over this time, I've helped you earn so much money, yet you only give me this little," Miss Wang said as if she were playfully hitting Ye Wu, who occasionally let out giggles as if tickled.
Fei Hu stood up and felt around until she found the lock—it was a round-headed lock identical to the one used in her dormitory, very low quality and could easily be forced open with a little effort. Fei Hu didn't dare be careless; she gently pushed on the door and found that although it was locked, due to years of neglect, there were large gaps around it. She immediately thought of a method she often used to unlock doors.
She took her ID card from her pocket and slid it into the gap at the door lock. With a gentle push outward and a quick downward swipe of the card, there was a faint sound—the door actually opened! A sliver of light spilled out as Ye Wu and Miss Wang were playfully wrestling on the bed, completely unaware.
Although Fei Hu was skilled and bold, this was her first time doing something like this—especially since her target was a leader of Dragon Tiger Gang. If she failed now, her life would truly be at stake. Her heart began to race with anxiety; however, with no turning back now that she had drawn her bowstring tight, she carefully opened the door just enough to see inside.
On a large bed lay Miss Wang completely naked on top of Ye Wu's stomach as they frolicked together joyfully. On a small table by the headboard sat the bag that Little Four had brought tonight.
Just as Fei Hu was planning how to grab the bag from the table, a sudden gust of wind blew through the half-open door, sending several papers flying off the table. Women tend to be more timid; Miss Wang suddenly turned around to look at the door. When she saw someone’s face wrapped in a scarf peeking through the doorway, she froze in shock.
Ye Wu saw Miss Wang standing still and anxiously asked, "What's wrong? Is there something interesting? You’re not seeing ghosts, are you?"
Fei Hu had planned to wait until they were tired and asleep before sneaking in to take what he wanted. He didn't expect the wind to be so troublesome. Now he couldn't afford any complaints. Fei Hu dashed inside, and just as Miss Wang shouted, "At the door..." she hadn't finished her sentence when Fei Hu leaped onto the bed and struck her neck with his palm. She didn't make a sound; her head tilted, and she collapsed onto the bed.
Ye Wu, being someone who had been around the block, sensed something was off. Without even looking back, he rolled off the side of the bed. Fei Hu was quick to act; he couldn't give Ye Wu a single chance. He grabbed a corner of the blanket from the bed with each hand and lunged at Ye Wu, who had just hit the ground. As soon as Ye Wu's neck rose, a blanket wrapped around him, and with Fei Hu's weight of over 150 pounds crashing down, he nearly suffocated.
Fei Hu lifted the blanket and, feeling uneasy, struck Ye Wu on the back of the neck again before crossing over the big bed to grab the bag from the table and run. As he exited, Fei Hu caught sight of Little Four and another yellow-haired guy running towards him while shouting. He thought he had been quiet enough, but it still alerted those two downstairs.
The stairs were not an option; Fei Hu had already seen that there were many items piled up in the yard on the first floor when he came up. Without thinking too much, he pressed against the railing on the second-floor balcony and jumped down like a tiger leaping from a mountain. He landed on top of the clutter on the first floor with a loud crack as something broke beneath him. Fei Hu didn't have time to ponder; he took a few steps and dashed out of the yard.
After running for a while, when Fei Hu reached the alley entrance, he heard footsteps chasing behind him. Xia Yan had learned his lesson this time; he saw that the car door was wide open and that the sedan was already running.
Before Fei Hu could get into the car, it started moving. With a leap, Fei Hu gracefully jumped into the back seat of the sedan. After running for more than ten meters, the car door finally slammed shut.
By the time Little Four and another yellow-haired guy reached the alley entrance, they didn’t see a single hair. They truly believed they had encountered a ghost.
