Suddenly, a light rain began to fall from the sky. Although it wasn't heavy, the bustling West Market Street became noticeably quieter. Yingzi drove her X1 through, splattering a bit of mud on the vehicle. This place was originally the largest wholesale market for groceries in City A.
Yingzi found it a bit strange that Ye Cheng would send her to such a place. Could the person she was looking for be someone selling vegetables or meat? With this doubt in mind, Yingzi pressed the accelerator slightly, and the X1 honked as it headed toward the other end of West Market Street.
Finally, she found number 28. It was the entrance to an old-style villa. Although Zeng Xin had renovated it, it still retained an antique charm. In such a busy street, having such an elegant place was indeed rare.
The sign above the store read "Taste Pavilion" in bold characters. As soon as Yingzi stepped inside, a young man who was sorting tea leaves looked up and asked, "Miss, are you here to sell tea? We have just received some Biluochun and Xinyang Maojian; we have a complete variety."
"Thank you, but I’m looking for someone," Yingzi politely nodded at the young man.
The young man set down what he was doing, looked at Yingzi, and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
"Teapot Lid," Yingzi replied, pulling out the Buddhist beads that Ye Cheng had given her.
Upon hearing this, the young man's eyes widened in surprise. After a moment, he asked, "Are you sure there’s someone by that name? Are you certain he’s from here?"
"Yes! Number 28 on West Market Street—if he’s not here, where else could he be?" Yingzi spoke firmly because she noticed the young man was becoming impatient.
"You should try looking elsewhere! We don’t have anyone by that name here," the young man began to usher her out.
Yingzi patiently smiled and said, "At least help me ask around; look at how far I’ve come."
"Alright! Just go! We really don’t have anyone you’re looking for. Try somewhere else; don’t disrupt my business," the young man insisted while pushing Yingzi away.
Hey! If you're going to push me out, then fine. But do you really think I'm a sick cat? Yingzi refused to back down this time and blocked his arm with her hand. Both of them paused in surprise as the young man stumbled slightly backward.
"Dart, what are you doing? Why are you getting physical with someone? You're really getting more and more reckless," an elderly man in his seventies came down from the corner staircase. He had gray hair but appeared quite robust, with a pair of stone glasses perched on his nose.
The young man called Dart changed his expression upon seeing the elder and quickly became very respectful. He whispered, "It's not what you think, Grandpa; this woman came to cause trouble, so I..."
"Nonsense! What woman? How many times do I have to tell you to refer to her as 'lady' or 'miss'? You really don't know any better," the elder adjusted his glasses and stepped forward.
The young man muttered softly, "She said to find Teapot Lid, but there’s no one like that here. She’s clearly just causing trouble."
Upon hearing this, the old man’s eyes lit up, and he eagerly asked Yingzi, "You’re looking for Teapot Lid?"
"Yes, Grandpa," Yingzi replied, holding up the prayer beads in her hand.
The old man smiled and said, "Good, the Buddha helps those with fate. Since you’re looking for this person, there must indeed be someone. May I take a look at the prayer beads in your hand?"
"Of course," Yingzi said with a smile as she handed the prayer beads to the old man.
The old man examined them closely and suddenly laughed, saying, "Good stuff! Let’s step aside and talk." He gestured towards the second floor.
Seeing this, the young man scoffed, "These things are everywhere on the street, two yuan a string; you can get as many as you want."
"You little brat, what do you know? Go over there and work," the old man said, pretending to hit him. The young man then ran off laughing while covering his head.
On the second floor, it was a different world altogether—filled with antique decorations that dazzled Yingzi's eyes. After inviting Yingzi to sit down next to a set of root-carved tea utensils, the old man poured her a cup of Kung Fu Tea and smiled, saying, "My grandson was rude earlier; I apologize. I am indeed the Teapot Lid you are looking for."
"Oh! Nice to meet you; I finally found you," Yingzi said excitedly as she smiled at the old man.
The old man shook his head and sighed, "I’ve been living in seclusion here for many years and thought your brother had forgotten about me. How is he doing?" His face showed genuine concern; it seemed they shared a deep bond.
"Grandpa is doing well; it’s just that our gang has encountered some tricky issues lately, so he sent me to find you." Yingzi then detailed everything that had happened in their gang recently.
Hearing this made the old man furious; he couldn't help but shout angrily, "Beasts! Truly two beasts! If I were younger, I would personally deal with these ungrateful scoundrels!"
Yingzi poured him another cup of tea, which helped calm him down. He leaned closer to Yingzi and whispered, "I’ll give you two phone numbers. Whenever you need help, just call these numbers; I guarantee it won’t delay your matters." After saying this, he walked over to a cabinet and rummaged through it until he found a piece of jade with a string attached.
Yingzi looked on in confusion as the old man smiled and said, "I didn’t know until now that you are A Long's granddaughter. We all trust you to help your brother. Take this jade and wear it around your neck; it will protect you. At critical moments, show it outside your clothes so our people will recognize you as their leader and follow your commands. This is very important; you must remember." The old man personally placed the jade around Yingzi's neck.
Being in the martial world requires one to be active; Yingzi felt a heavy weight in her heart. The old man patted her shoulder and called downstairs, "Dart, see our guest off and give her a pound of top-quality Biluochun tea."
Though it was their first meeting, Yingzi felt somewhat reluctant to part ways. The old man smiled and said, "Good child, help your brother well. Once everything is settled, come back to play with me. Send my regards to him; this pound of tea is my gift for him." Yingzi understood that the old man was indicating she shouldn’t seek him out unless necessary; it seemed this was perhaps a rule within their gang.
As she went downstairs, Dart smiled as he handed the tea leaves to Yingzi, saying, "We will meet again." His words sounded quite profound.
When Yingzi returned to the villa, she saw Sister Wu sitting alone on a stone bench in the garden. She could clearly sense that something was off; logically, Sister Wu should have been with Ye Cheng since she was not there.
"Sister Wu, what are you thinking? Is something wrong?" Yingzi walked over and gently sat beside Sister Wu.
Sister Wu was startled for a moment, then turned and smiled, "Hehe, I'm just an old lady. What could I possibly be worried about? You're back; how did everything go?"
"Sister Wu, you're not old at all. You will always be young and beautiful. Everything went smoothly," Yingzi said, lowering her voice as she spoke.
"It's nothing. I gave them the afternoon off; they all went shopping. Big Brother is sleeping upstairs, and since I had nothing to do, I came out to sit for a while. The fresh air outside is nice," Sister Wu maintained a smile on her face, but Yingzi could still see that she was hiding some displeasure inside.
Leaning closer to Sister Wu's ear, Yingzi whispered, "I know about what happened last night. Xiaojun has some issues; what I don't understand is why Grandpa favors her. It feels a bit strange."
Upon hearing this, Sister Wu nodded happily and praised Xiaojun, "She really is well-trained. This isn't the first or second time for Xiaojun; I feel there's something wrong here, but I just can't figure it out."
Xiaojun remained silent for a long time before softly saying to Sister Wu, "To untie the knot, one must find the person who tied it. The breakthrough should be with Grandpa."
"What? Are you saying Big Brother definitely knows what's going on? But who would dare ask him? You know his temper," Sister Wu said with a troubled expression.
"Xiaofei! When she comes back, we need to talk to her. We must get to the bottom of this; otherwise, it really isn't safe here," Xiaojun whispered as quietly as possible. Sister Wu couldn't help but nod in agreement.
