At that moment, the bus arrived at a stop. A few people got off, but more boarded than left. Among them was an elderly lady in her fifties or sixties who looked quite sprightly. She stood next to Fei Hu but couldn't move any further. In today's society, despite all the talk about respecting elders and caring for children, no one offered their seat. The bus announcement repeated twice: "Please give your seat to elderly passengers or those in need." Some passengers were so annoyed they turned their faces toward the window.
Fei Hu couldn't help but laugh at the situation. As the bus swayed, it became difficult for the elderly lady to stand. He did his best to protect her with his body; she noticed and smiled gratefully at him.
As they approached a traffic light, the bus suddenly braked hard, causing trouble for those standing. Some nearly toppled over due to lack of attention. When Fei Hu looked around again, he noticed that the woman who had harassed him earlier had somehow moved behind the elderly lady along with two men who were glancing around suspiciously; they looked to be around thirty years old.
Suddenly, the old lady standing next to Fei Hu shouted, "My wallet is missing!" and began to cry.
The driver acted quickly, pulling the car over to the side of the road and shouting, "Who took it? Return it to the old lady immediately, or I will call the police!"
Everyone in the car began to discuss among themselves. Fei Hu couldn't help but look at the woman. She was dressed quite flamboyantly, with her long black hair tied back in a ponytail, swaying behind her. The makeup on her face concealed her actual age, and her lips were painted a striking red. The Seductive Woman noticed Fei Hu looking at her and showed no fear; instead, she threw him a flirtatious glance, appearing quite provocative.
Seeing that no one was moving, the old lady cried even harder. Between sobs, she shouted, "Damn it! Someone stole my life savings! I just borrowed two thousand yuan from someone! How am I supposed to go to the hospital tomorrow?" The more she cried, the sadder it made Fei Hu feel.
"I'll give you all one more chance. Don't be ungrateful. Now, I'm turning off the lights in the car. In one minute, I hope to see the old lady's money," the driver said as he turned off the lights inside the car. Instantly, darkness enveloped everyone, and people began to whisper quietly.
When the driver turned the lights back on, everyone instinctively stepped back, hoping to see the wallet near the old lady. Suddenly, the Seductive Woman pointed at Fei Hu's feet and exclaimed, "Look everyone! Isn't there a wallet right there?"
Fei Hu looked down and gasped! There really was a wallet lying at his feet. At that moment, everyone's strange gazes turned toward Fei Hu as if they believed he had indeed taken it.
A young girl in her twenties stood behind Fei Hu. She moved quickly, bent down to pick up the wallet, and handed it to the old lady. The old lady gratefully said, "Thank you."
However, when the old lady opened the wallet and looked inside, she shouted again, "Damn it! All the money is gone! What good is a wallet without any money? You might as well stab me twice!"
With that exclamation, chaos erupted in the car. Some people began to curse loudly at the thief for being heartless, while many others were worried that if they reported it to the police, it would waste their time.
Feeling as if everyone wanted to kill him with their eyes, Fei Hu felt anxious and distressed. However, he knew he couldn't speak at that moment; opening his mouth would only make things worse and would be like trying to wash away guilt after jumping into a river.
