The place to land was not wide. Fei Hu and Yingzi stood on either side, each carrying a wooden stick. The group of yellow-haired individuals showed some hesitation as they slowly moved forward in the river, with no one daring to rush to the front.
The fat man on the shore got angry and shouted, "Jeans, you three charge ahead! If you let the old man escape, I won't let you off easily!"
This command worked. The three men wielding machetes began to run chaotically in the river, pushing to the front of the group. With grim faces, they slowly approached the shore.
Fei Hu had made up his mind; he would only act when they got close enough. Geographically, he was positioned higher up and had no need to rush down. Yingzi was also clever, standing still while swinging her wooden stick without making a move.
As soon as the three men reached the shore, they stopped in their tracks upon noticing that Fei Hu was wearing an eye mask and was a rather burly young man. They thought this person might be difficult to deal with, so they exchanged glances and suddenly charged at Yingzi. Little did they know that Yingzi was also a tough opponent.
When the three men got onto the shore and were about to close in, Yingzi swung her wooden stick in a wide arc in front of her. One of them nearly got hit on the head and instinctively ducked. In that brief moment, Yingzi reversed her grip and swept from below, catching him unprepared. He screamed and fell into the river with a splash.
The other two were taken aback; they hadn't expected this woman to be so formidable. By the time they tried to retreat, it was too late. They had no choice but to charge forward with determination, swinging their machetes wildly at Yingzi without any strategy. Seeing this from the side, Fei Hu thought that Yingzi would have a hard time now since they were wielding machetes. If her wooden stick collided with one, it would surely break, making the situation difficult to manage.
In a moment of desperation, Fei Hu bent down and picked up two stones from the ground, throwing them at the two men surrounding Yingzi. This wasn't random; having survived in the Great Forest since childhood, hitting beasts with stones was his specialty. Sure enough, both men cried out as their machetes slowed down slightly. Seizing this opportunity, Yingzi struck with her wooden stick twice—bang bang—and both men fell into the water.
Seeing three of his men taken down in quick succession ignited fury in the fat man. He jumped into the water recklessly and shouted for the yellow-haired individuals to charge forward. This changed the tide significantly; twenty or thirty yellow-haired men rushed forward with shouts. After several exchanges, Fei Hu and Yingzi found themselves overwhelmed.
Inadvertently, Fei Hu's leg was grazed by a sharp weapon, causing blood to seep out. This completely enraged Fei Hu; he let out a roar and lunged downwards, swinging his wooden stick repeatedly amidst cries of pain. The yellow-haired men were forced back into the water with splashes all around—a spectacular scene.
With one effective strike, Fei Hu didn't hesitate; he waved his wooden stick and charged into the water, taking on one after another. The yellow-haired men quickly fell apart and began retreating. Seeing Fei Hu's bravery inspired Yingzi to jump into the water from another side to flank them. Some of the yellow-haired individuals were rolling and crawling away in utter disarray.
The fat man noticed this and lost his will to fight; if he persisted any longer, all that would return would be injured men. He first jumped onto a Jeep and led a retreat. As a result, the yellow-haired individuals scattered in panic while several pickups belched black smoke as they turned back from where they came.
Suddenly, Yingzi let out a startled cry, "Blood, you're hurt!"
Fei Hu looked down and saw that the water beneath him had turned red. Only then did he realize that water had seeped into his wound, causing him considerable pain. He hurriedly retreated to the shore. Yingzi bent down and rolled up Fei Hu's pant leg, revealing a wound about five or six inches long. It looked a bit alarming, but it seemed to be just a superficial cut, without any damage to the muscles or bones.
"Sit here and don't move. I'll bandage you up," Yingzi said before turning around and jumping into the river. She opened the trunk of the BMW and pulled out a first aid kit.
At that moment, Ye Xiaofei and Ye Cheng emerged from the woods after seeing the group leave. When Ye Xiaofei noticed Fei Hu was injured, she quickly crouched down and took out some tissues from her pocket, carefully wiping away the droplets of water around the wound. Her movements were gentle and light, and Fei Hu wore an expression of enjoyment.
"Young man, are you okay? I feel really bad that you got hurt," Ye Cheng said sincerely.
Yingzi placed the first aid kit on the ground and smiled at Ye Cheng, saying, "It's fine, Grandpa. It's just a scratch; bandaging it won't be a big deal." As she spoke, she took out cotton swabs, disinfectant, and gauze—everything necessary for treatment. It seemed they were well-prepared for a fight.
The two women worked together, and soon Fei Hu's wound was bandaged. The feeling of being cared for by women was wonderful, especially since two of them were stunning beauties. One of them was even his ideal woman. Fei Hu even entertained a ridiculous thought: he wanted to get hurt again so that Ye Xiaofei could bandage him once more; he longed to experience her tenderness at that moment.
"Child, we need to prepare ourselves mentally. This group won't give up easily; they must be going to get reinforcements. Soon enough, they'll come back at us again. But this car..." Ye Cheng said with a worried expression.
Yingzi wrung out the water from her pant leg and smiled, saying, "Don't worry, Grandpa. Where there's a will, there's a way. A New Hope Emerges; perhaps we will have a Noble Person to help us pull these two cars out."
"I think it's more likely we'll encounter ghosts than find a Noble Person here," Ye Xiaofei sighed. In such circumstances, it was truly difficult for her as a young lady who had been pampered since childhood; she had never endured such hardship.
Yingzi suddenly pointed with her hand and laughed, "Isn't that a Noble Person coming?"
Everyone hurriedly followed her finger and saw someone driving two cows along a small path from the edge of the forest. It looked like a local villager who might be heading to plow the fields. If that were the case, there was hope for getting the cars out of the water.
As the person approached, they could see he was a kind-looking middle-aged man in his fifties. Yingzi quickly called out, "Uncle! Hello! Could you please help us pull our two cars out of the water? We will pay you for your trouble; what do you think?"
A middle-aged man called out a couple of times, causing the car to stop by the roadside. He then smiled and asked, "How did you drive the car all the way here? Are you here for some fun?"
Yingzi, seeing an opportunity, quickly replied, "No, Uncle, we are heading to Curved Stream, but we didn't expect the car to..."
The middle-aged man waved his hand, interrupting Yingzi. He laughed and said, "You took a wrong turn; you are too far off. You should have turned left at the mountain pass ahead; that's the road to Curved Stream."
Everyone was taken aback; wasn't this adding insult to injury? Ye Cheng, hearing this, became anxious and hurried over. He smiled and asked, "Brother, is there a way to bypass this road?"
The middle-aged man glanced at Ye Cheng's snow-white hair and chuckled, "Old brother, this is a dead-end road. The Great Forest is ahead; you can't get through. This road was built by lumberjacks a few years ago; it's not a main road."
Ye Cheng shook his head helplessly upon hearing this. What were they supposed to do now? Everyone was at a loss for ideas when suddenly the sound of cars approaching broke the silence. They hurriedly turned around and saw several vehicles coming their way from not far off.
The middle-aged man laughed and said, "What’s going on today? So many cars are coming; usually, we don’t see even one."
In this critical situation, a decisive idea was needed. Yingzi couldn't help but glance at Fei Hu. After a moment of thought, Fei Hu stood up and said to the middle-aged man, "Uncle, could you call a few people from your village to help us get these two cars back to your village? We'll come back for them in a few days; we won't shortchange you. What do you think?"
"Hahaha, just two cars? We can carry them back even if we have to lift them! You see those dozens of households on the left side of the road? That's our village," the middle-aged man replied with a hearty laugh.
Yingzi immediately pulled out a stack of cash from her bag—at least a thousand yuan—and her expression changed as she said to the middle-aged man, "The money is yours, but you must ensure the cars are well protected. We'll come back for them in two days."
The middle-aged man looked at the cash in his hand and grinned, "Don't worry, young lady."
