At around seven in the evening, City A was radiating a charming glow under the night sky. Wealthy individuals arrived in luxury cars at various restaurants and high-end clubs, while white-collar workers, having finished their day at the office, gathered in groups heading towards KTVs and nightclubs. Even migrant workers, unable to access these places, stepped out of their cramped homes to enjoy the colorful nightlife of City A.
Fei Hu stood at the intersection, looking around anxiously. Sister Lian and Xiao Qi had called him, asking him to wait for them here, but it had been a long time without any sign of them. Many beautiful women passed by, but none were her.
Suddenly, Fei Hu heard someone shouting from a distance, "Catch them! They are thieves!"
As soon as Fei Hu turned around, he saw Sister Lian rushing towards him with a panicked expression. She hugged him tightly and said, "Hold me tight, quickly!" Confused but compelled by her urgency, Fei Hu complied and wrapped his arms around Sister Lian.
Just as he was about to ask what was happening, Sister Lian urgently said, "Be professional about it." With that, her warm and soft lips met his, covering his mouth. My goodness, this unexpected encounter was too sudden! Fei Hu felt exhilarated; his blood was boiling.
At that moment, the sound of footsteps from afar grew closer. Sister Lian suddenly grabbed one of Fei Hu's hands and placed it on her chest. She signaled him with her eyes. Oh my! Even a fool would know what to do next; let alone someone as clever as Fei Hu. His hand trembled as he pressed down on Sister Lian's ample bosom. The instant his hand firmly grasped her curves, he felt her body shudder and heard an involuntary "Hmm" escape her lips.
The footsteps stopped behind them. Fei Hu glanced sideways and saw two police officers who were looking around with their batons in hand. One officer remarked, "No way! How could they disappear here? Are they going to fly away?"
"I told you to catch the smaller ones first; you insisted this one wouldn't run fast. Look at this—didn't catch a single one and exhausted ourselves," the other officer complained.
Fei Hu hurriedly closed his eyes, finally understanding why Sister Lian had acted so suddenly. He felt a bit scared; what if the police figured out they were just pretending? That would be even more troublesome. He thought to himself that if he was going to help, he might as well go all out. With that thought in mind, he tightened his grip around Sister Lian's waist and boldly squeezed her curves through her clothing.
Fei Hu's sudden advance caught Sister Lian off guard. She had only intended to act a little but didn't expect Fei Hu to take it seriously. With the police nearby, she dared not resist and could only go along with it; their act became increasingly vivid.
Frustrated at not finding anyone, one of the officers kicked a utility pole and muttered under his breath, "Kissing in public without finding a private spot—what a disgrace! Be careful or I'll arrest you."
"Come on! What business is it of yours if they're kissing?" the other officer retorted as their footsteps gradually faded away.
The police had left, but neither of them made any move to separate; they continued their previous actions. Suddenly, Fei Hu felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around quickly to see Xiao Qi grinning mischievously. "Hmph! Sister Lian is lucky tonight; looks like you’re getting all the benefits! What’s this? You’re still holding on tight? Such a big pervert!"
Fei Hu felt awkward and scratched his head. Sister Lian glanced shyly at Fei Hu, then dashed over to Xiao Qi, grabbing her ear and kicking her backside. Xiao Qi quickly shouted to Fei Hu, "Brother-in-law, help! Sister Lian is going to kill me!"
"You little girl, if you keep shouting nonsense, I'll tear your mouth apart," Sister Lian said, pulling up on Xiao Qi's ear, causing her to wince in pain.
"If you don't hit me, I won't shout, Brother-in-law..." Xiao Qi pretended to yell again, forcing Sister Lian to let go.
Fei Hu watched the two of them and couldn't help but laugh until his stomach hurt. Xiao Qi was so mischievous; she hardly acted like a girl at all—more like a boy. Once they had their fun, Fei Hu said, "Weren't we supposed to eat? Have you decided where to go? Are you trying to starve me? I haven't even had dinner yet!" he pretended to be angry.
"Still claiming you haven't eaten? Sister Lian's mouth is almost bitten off by you," Xiao Qi said, making a funny face at Fei Hu.
Sister Lian laughed and replied, "Keep talking like that, and I'll tear your mouth apart." The two of them chased each other forward as if nothing had happened.
At Hunan Restaurant, a chain in City A with affordable prices, there were quite a few diners. The interior was decent, with both private rooms and a dining hall. Fei Hu reserved a private room. Once they sat down, he asked for the menu and handed it to Sister Lian. She glanced at it but then passed it to Xiao Qi with a smile, saying, "You've been waiting for this for days; just order whatever you want tonight!"
Xiao Qi smiled and took her time ordering but only chose three or four dishes. Fei Hu understood her intention and added two of the restaurant's specialties. After the dishes were served, he closed the door and cheerfully said, "Let's enjoy our meal! Would you like some drinks?"
Xiao Qi laughed while eating and replied, "Sure! Sister Lian loves drinking but hasn't had the chance lately. Tonight, you should drink a couple of glasses with us!"
Sister Lian shook her head, glanced at Fei Hu, and sighed, "No need; let's skip it."
Fei Hu didn't say anything. He opened the door and went out for a moment before returning with a bottle of mid-range domestic liquor. He poured each of them a glass and said with a smile, "Cheers to our good fortune!"
Once they started drinking, the conversation flowed naturally. Through their talk, Fei Hu learned that Sister Lian and Xiao Qi had gone shopping. Xiao Qi had set her sights on a wealthy person's wallet and insisted on getting it. However, Sister Lian strongly opposed her taking action—first because they had plans to eat with Fei Hu that night and second because security in the bustling area was tight with patrolling officers constantly moving around. If they weren't careful, they could easily get caught. But for the sake of dinner that night and despite Sister Lian's strong objections, Xiao Qi still recklessly went for it.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Xiao Qi got hold of the wallet, the owner noticed and shouted loudly. Just then, a patrol officer happened to pass by and chased after Xiao Qi. With so many pedestrians on the street making it hard to run away quickly, the officer closed in on her fast. Yet she refused to let go of the wallet. To help her escape, Sister Lian rushed forward and grabbed the wallet from Xiao Qi's hand before they both ran in different directions.
What followed was a scene reminiscent of a street kiss; fortunately, Fei Hu was waiting for them nearby. If he hadn't been there, the outcome would have been dire—there was no doubt they would have been caught by the police.
After a while, Fei Hu finally said, "Can you all stop? I'm really worried about this kind of life."
"Stop? How can we stop? We have to eat every day! Sleeping can be done anywhere, but when you're hungry, you can't just ignore it. With this life, once you step in, you're eating from the public pot. That's when you'll think about stopping," Sister Lian said as she downed her drink.
Time passed slowly, and there was nothing left on the table. Fei Hu asked if they were hungry. Sister Lian and Xiao Qi nodded at the same time. Eating should be a joyful thing, but when the conversation turned to reality, it inevitably left people speechless.
Suddenly, a waiter pushed the door open and walked in with two large plastic bags. He placed the bags on the table and said, "Sir, here are your ten takeout meals, and here's your ten yuan change."
Sister Lian asked in confusion, "Why did you order so many takeout meals? Do you have a lot of people living together?"
Fei Hu chuckled and replied, "In a place this cramped, even one person feels a bit crowded. If there were more people, we wouldn't even have room to hang these bags on the wall. These are prepared for you; I hope it's enough."
"Hey! You're such a good person. Those girls have their own things to do every day; they just stay with us at night. Earning some money for food isn't a problem. But for me and Xiao Qi, living this kind of life where we're scorned by others is tough," Sister Lian said with a guilty expression.
Xiao Qi gave Fei Hu a thumbs up and smiled, "Not bad! A real man. Just this noon, I had already categorized you as a pervert, but now at least you're a good person among perverts. That's rare."
Fei Hu smiled lightly and said, "It's just a small effort on my part; that's all I can do."
"That's enough! Knowing you at least lets me know that not all men in this world are bad. Do you know? Most of the men who ask me out usually haven't even finished their meals before they start asking about sleeping together. There was one guy who I slightly rejected; that bastard pretended to go to the bathroom and secretly ran away, leaving me to pay three hundred eighty yuan for the meal. Men can be so despicable!" Xiao Qi gritted her teeth in anger.
Sister Lian smiled at Fei Hu and said, "Don't mind her; she's had too much to drink." Fei Hu remained silent, actually pondering whether men really were that despicable.
