"What's going on?" With that voice, the One-Armed Man led four or five armed men out of the hall on the first floor. As soon as he appeared, he fired a shot into the air. Although the gunshot wasn't loud, it was still somewhat intimidating.
One of the men rushed over and whispered something in his ear. The One-Armed Man slowly lowered his gun, indicating that even he had moments of uncertainty.
Bald Zhang and A-Lian were both very clever. With just a glance at each other, they led their people to push forward, causing chaos in the courtyard. The One-Armed Man quickly called over a dozen of his subordinates to confront Bald Zhang's group. Neither side was willing to back down, resulting in a standoff in the courtyard where both sides engaged in a tug-of-war. Fortunately, everyone was just shoving; no one dared to strike first.
At that moment, outside the wall of the back courtyard, Fei Hu crouched down as Yingzi ran from a distance and stepped onto his shoulder. Using Fei Hu's sudden lift, she leaped up and expertly climbed onto the wall. Then she reached out and grabbed Fei Hu's hand. With a bit of leverage, Fei Hu pushed off with his toes against the wall and climbed up as well. It seemed that the owner of this house was quite wealthy before the demolition; the wall was significantly taller than those of ordinary homes.
Hearing the commotion in the front courtyard, Fei Hu and Yingzi exchanged glances and jumped into the back courtyard with grace. Fei Hu looked up and saw that the second-floor window had been removed. He pointed to a drainage pipe leading downstairs and climbed up first. His clumsy movements did not hinder his speed, and Yingzi chuckled softly as she followed closely behind.
Everything went smoothly; Fei Hu quickly reached a room on the second floor. Just as he was unsure of where to go next, a voice came from nearby: "Old fool, it took you so long to write just a few words; do you want to die?"
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu realized it was coming from next door. He immediately turned around and signaled to Yingzi to flank him as they quietly approached the door. Fei Hu picked up two broken bricks from the ground and handed one to Yingzi.
Since both the window and door of the room had been removed, as soon as Fei Hu stepped out, he tilted his head slightly and saw Ye Cheng kneeling on one knee atop a three-legged chair, writing something. Two men with short guns stood behind him, one of whom was cursing; he must have heard the noise from downstairs.
Fei Hu gestured for Yingzi to join him, and they stealthily made their way to the door. With a nod from Fei Hu, they darted inside like lightning, bringing their bricks down on the backs of the two men's heads almost simultaneously. The two men didn't make a sound; their heads turned slightly before they collapsed together.
Hearing the commotion, Ye Cheng turned around and saw Yingzi and Fei Hu. The old man trembled as he got up and hastily tore apart the papers on the chair. Fei Hu knew this wasn't the time for emotional expressions; he stepped forward to support Ye Cheng as they moved out. Yingzi bent down to pick up two guns from the ground before climbing down ahead via the drainage pipe.
At such an advanced age, how would Ye Cheng manage to get down? And once down, how would he get out? Fei Hu felt troubled again as he stood by the window pondering this dilemma when he saw Yingzi extend a bamboo pole as thick as an arm towards him at the window. Upon seeing this, Fei Hu felt delighted; no wonder she had gone down early—she was looking for tools!
Ye Cheng understood immediately and climbed up to the windowsill, trembling as he grasped the bamboo pole. Fei Hu gestured to Yingzi below, then gently pushed Ye Cheng, causing the old man to slide down. The drop from the second floor to the first was over three meters, so Ye Cheng slid down easily and landed on the ground. Yingzi was there to catch him, and the old man likely only hurt his hand; everything else was unharmed.
Fei Hu then jumped onto the windowsill, held onto the bamboo pole, and slid down slightly before letting go and jumping down. Together with Yingzi, they helped Ye Cheng to the wall. Looking at the high wall, the old man shook his head helplessly.
At that moment, two gunshots rang out from the front yard. It seemed that A-Lian and Bald Zhang were putting up a fierce attack, making it difficult for their opponents to cope. The situation was becoming increasingly critical, leaving no room for hesitation.
Suddenly, Ye Cheng tapped Fei Hu on the shoulder and pointed to the other side of the wall. When Fei Hu looked over, he saw a hole about the size of a bowl in the wall, as if someone had removed a few bricks. It was too small for a person to pass through, and Fei Hu did not understand Ye Cheng's intention.
The old man made a motion with his foot, indicating something. This time, Fei Hu understood completely; experience truly counts. Once a small hole was made in the wall, the surrounding bricks would be loose. Fei Hu had encountered such situations before but had not thought of it today.
Fei Hu ran over, lifted his foot, and kicked at the hole with all his strength. With a loud crash, a large chunk of brick fell from the small opening. Fei Hu was extremely pleased and helped Ye Cheng cross over in just a few steps. While walking, he called A-Lian to instruct her to retreat.
While Fei Hu was on the phone with A-Lian, Yingzi seemed to be making a call as well; her voice was low and her conversation brief.
Once outside, Tiger bent down and carried Ye Cheng on his back as they ran. Yingzi followed closely behind. When they reached the village entrance, they saw A-Lian and Bald Zhang running out with others.
"They seem to be chasing us. You all go ahead; Bald Zhang and I will try to hold them off," A-Lian said breathlessly.
Yingzi waved her hand and said loudly, "You all go first; our car is faster. Besides, I have a gun in my hand and can fight back. They won't be able to get close to us for a while."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu gave A-Lian a look. A-Lian waved her hand, and she and Bald Zhang quickly disappeared from sight.
As soon as their vehicle turned around, Fei Hu heard motorcycles approaching from a distance—about two or three hundred meters away. Yingzi said to Ye Cheng, "Climb down, Grandpa." Saying this, she opened the rear window of the car, leaned her head out, and slowly raised her gun while unlocking it.
This road belongs to the Village-Level Field Road, which is narrow and uneven, so driving a large vehicle is not advantageous at all. A-Lian and Bald Zhang were originally driving a boxy Pickup, and it seemed like the people inside were standing. This vehicle was already slow, and with the poor road conditions, it was even slower. It blocked the way, so Fei Hu could only follow behind to provide protection.
The sound of motorcycles grew louder; it seemed they had increased their power. From the rearview mirror, Fei Hu could see dust being kicked up as the motorcycles sped by, resembling a sandstorm approaching their sedan. When they were about thirty meters away, Yingzi took aim for a long time and pulled the trigger. With a bang, the closest motorcycle swerved and crashed into the roadside.
Fei Hu then remembered that Yingzi was originally from the military; guns should be her strong suit. The sound of motorcycles gradually faded away; it seemed even outlaws feared for their lives.
Ye Chengjing was truly exhausted after all this commotion. The elderly man had his eyes tightly shut and fell asleep in the back seat. Fei Hu drove slowly, and as they approached the Main Road, several police cars passed by them. In the last one sat fully armed armed police, causing Fei Hu's heart to race again. Fortunately, these police cars merely brushed past them without even glancing their way.
Yingzi instructed Fei Hu to pull over to the side of the road and then called Ye Xiaofei. Only then did Fei Hu remember A-Lian and Bald Zhang; he hurriedly called them to bring everyone back, promising to thank them once this was all over.
By the time they returned to the villa, it was getting dark. Seeing everyone exhausted, Fei Hu decided not to linger any longer. He took a taxi back to his residence and lay on his bed, replaying everything that had happened today in his mind like a movie. Fei Hu couldn't believe that this was all real.
His phone vibrated in his pocket. Fei Hu took it out to see that it was a call from Ye Xiaofei. Startled, he quickly sat up in bed. Did something happen again with Ye Cheng? He hurriedly pressed the answer button and asked anxiously, "What's wrong, Xiaofei? Is there another problem?"
"Nothing! Look how nervous you are! We are in the city center with strong police presence; not many dare to cause trouble here. Besides, our villa is surrounded by cameras; ordinary people wouldn't dare come in. So you can rest easy," Ye Xiaofei's tone was very gentle and pleasant, which surprised Fei Hu.
"That's good to hear. So why did you call?" Fei Hu asked directly.
Ye Xiaofei paused for a moment before smiling and saying, "What? Can't I call you if nothing's wrong? Thank you for today; I’ve been busy all day without eating a bite. Have you eaten yet?" Only then did Fei Hu remember that he hadn't eaten anything since earlier.
