Everyone was smart enough not to ask Fei Hu about the prison during the meal, including Ye Cheng. Instead, they chatted and laughed, sticking to light topics.
After more than twenty days of isolation, Fei Hu suddenly felt that the world was still beautiful; it all depended on how one chose to live. So, during the gathering, he felt grateful to many people. As a result, he couldn't put down his glass, and by the time he realized it, he was already quite tipsy.
Ye Xiaofei, feeling happy, also drank a couple more glasses with Fei Hu, completely forgetting that he was the one driving. Thankfully, Yingzi was attentive. Although she was very happy about Fei Hu's release, she hadn't touched a drop of alcohol. Seeing that everyone else had nearly finished drinking, she arranged for Sister Wu and Ye Cheng to take Ye Xiaofei home and parked Ye Xiaofei's car in the hotel’s underground parking lot.
Once everything was settled and she returned to her seat, Fei Hu had already collapsed on the table, sound asleep. He looked so peaceful that Yingzi couldn't bear to wake him up. With the help of a waiter, Yingzi bent down and actually carried this tall man on her back. This action left everyone in the hotel astonished; a beautiful woman carrying a handsome man was indeed a striking sight in this five-star hotel.
In the car, Fei Hu kept mumbling incoherently—one moment mentioning Bai Jing and the next Blackie. It seemed that this incident had affected him quite a bit. He even called out Ye Xiaofei's name. When Yingzi, who was driving, heard this, she couldn't help but shiver; she didn't understand why she reacted that way.
The night was getting late, and there were hardly any pedestrians on the road—only the occasional car speeding by. Yingzi drove slowly because she wanted to spend some time alone with this man. However, he was too drunk to be aware of anything. She realized that this man had quietly entered her life at some point; sometimes he even appeared in her dreams. Especially after his recent experience in prison, she had visited Ni Ling countless times, leading Ni Ling to ask if she had fallen for him.
"Yingzi," Fei Hu mumbled again in his drunken state, calling her name directly this time. Her heart felt completely filled by this man.
After finally getting Fei Hu settled in bed, Yingzi herself felt exhausted. She sat on the edge of the bed watching him sleep soundly; she really didn't want to leave. It was enough for her just to watch him.
Suddenly her phone rang in her pocket. Yingzi hurried into the living room and checked; it was a call from Ye Xiaofei. She quickly answered, "Hello! Sister Xiaofei, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Sister Wu gave me a bowl of hangover soup; I feel much better now. Why haven't you come back yet? Is Fei Hu really drunk? If he's not well, call 120 and take him to the hospital for an IV; don't let it turn out like last time," Ye Xiaofei said anxiously.
Yingzi sighed and gently replied, "Don't worry; he's fine now. I'll be back shortly." After hanging up, Yingzi felt an uncomfortable sensation inside her. Earlier, Ye Xiaofei would get upset whenever Fei Hu was mentioned; now for some reason, she had done a complete turnaround. This excessive warmth made Yingzi feel uneasy at least.
Early in the morning, Fei Hu, still deep in sleep, was awakened by the ringing of his phone beside the bed. It took him a while to gather his thoughts, feeling that this place was no longer a prison but a comfortable, soft, and warm bed. He suddenly remembered that he had drunk too much last night and wondered if he had been placed in a hotel. As Fei Hu turned over and sat up, he realized this was his own room, but he couldn't recall how he got there at all.
The phone continued to ring insistently. A bit annoyed, Fei Hu picked it up and saw that it was Ye Xiaofei calling. He quickly pressed the answer button, and Ye Xiaofei's cheerful voice came through: "Hello! You’re not still drunk, are you? If so, I can take you to the hospital later."
Ye Xiaofei's warmth made Fei Hu feel a slight sense of comfort; this warmth was intoxicating. He quickly replied with a smile, "I'm fine. I just had a bit to drink. I'll head to work soon."
"You're mistaken! You like working this much? Take another day off! Today is Sunday, and you can start fresh on Monday. It’ll be easier for them to arrange your work," Ye Xiaofei said in a commanding tone.
Fei Hu obediently responded, "Okay, I’ll listen to you."
Receiving a call from a beautiful woman, especially one who cared about him, made it impossible for Fei Hu to fall back asleep. At the very least, he was wide awake now. After some busywork tidying up his room—things were different now; with a beautiful woman around, he didn’t want to be laughed at. Plus, he needed to maintain his image; any man walking with such an exceptional woman should at least look clean and tidy.
Once everything was in order, Fei Hu grabbed a bag of trash and was about to head downstairs when the door across from him opened. A beautiful woman in pajamas stepped out; she was also taking out her trash. Just as she bent down, Fei Hu inadvertently glanced over and nearly blinded himself by what he saw: two round curves spilled out from her open pajama collar—smooth and white—causing Fei Hu to lose focus.
Noticing that Fei Hu was staring at her chest, the woman quickly realized she had exposed herself. She stood up hurriedly and smiled, saying, "Good morning! It's the first time I've run into you in the morning after living here for so long."
Fei Hu quickly pulled himself together and smiled back, "It really is! Usually everyone is too busy." Taking advantage of the conversation, he discreetly sized her up.
The woman appeared to be around thirty years old, tall with an attractive figure—curvy where it mattered and slim where it should be. She truly was a stunningly mature beauty. Fei Hu wondered why he kept encountering beautiful women; perhaps his standards for beauty were just a bit low.
"Hey! What do you do? Can you introduce yourself? We live so close; as the saying goes, distant relatives are not as good as close neighbors," she said while casually tugging down the hem of her pajamas. It was quite chilly outside, yet her bare white legs were exposed beneath her pajamas; onlookers would feel cold just looking at her.
Fei Hu quickly smiled and replied, "My name is Fei Hu, and I work as a security guard at Shengwei Group Company.
"Ha ha, not bad, a big company. My name is Alice, I just returned from Australia. I run a beauty salon, so come by when you have time. I'll personally give you a makeover, and I guarantee you'll look even more handsome," Alice said, throwing a flirtatious glance at Fei Hu. My goodness, Fei Hu saw it and felt it in his heart.
"Being your own boss is really nice. It seems this house used to be occupied by two girls who have moved out," Fei Hu suddenly recalled that when he first arrived, Alice wasn't the one living here.
Alice might have been outside for too long and felt a bit cold; her feet were moving restlessly. She took a breath and laughed, "Ha ha! You know about them? They moved out. This house was left to me by my dad. Since I wasn't around, I temporarily rented it out to others. Now that I'm back, I've taken it back for myself. The place is a bit small, but it's fine for one person. Once business picks up, I'll move to a bigger place." Alice spoke lightly; she truly had the demeanor of a boss.
Fei Hu then realized something was off. He was dressed warmly and could stand in the hallway all day without issue, but Alice couldn't do the same. He quickly said, "Let me help you take this trash downstairs; you should head back to your room! It's a bit cold outside." As he spoke, he stepped forward, picked up the trash that Alice had just put in the hallway, and turned to leave.
Fei Hu's eagerness impressed Alice; she happily said, "Thank you! Come by when you have time."
Good things lift one's spirits, and Fei Hu was no exception. He cheerfully tossed the trash into the dumpster and headed to the breakfast spot. After taking a look around, he stopped in front of a soup dumpling stall run by a middle-aged couple and called out loudly, "Two baskets of dumplings, one meat and one vegetarian!"
"Sure! Are you eating here or taking them away?" the middle-aged man asked cheerfully.
Fei Hu noticed that behind them were two small tables with several young men and women sitting there enjoying their food. Suddenly wanting to experience that atmosphere himself, he shouted, "Let's eat here!" After saying that, he walked over and found a spot at one of the tables.
It didn't take long before the middle-aged woman placed two baskets of dumplings in front of Fei Hu and smiled as she said, "Young man, you look quite spirited! Wearing that trench coat makes you look like a big star."
A young man sitting nearby eating dumplings chimed in jokingly, "That's hard to say; maybe he really is some star! You better keep an eye on him. If he is, don't forget to ask for an autograph. Tomorrow this place will definitely be buzzing!" As soon as he finished speaking, everyone burst into laughter, and Fei Hu felt incredibly happy that morning.
At that moment, three scruffy-looking young men approached and shouted at the middle-aged couple selling dumplings, "Pay up for protection!"
