When there was any movement from Ye Xiaofei in the company, it scared Wang Qian because she and Ye Wei had a batch of smuggled goods that were about to reach the delivery deadline. This meant that all subsequent payments had to be made at once, but the finance department was almost completely controlled by Ye Xiaofei, making it impossible for anyone else to intervene. What could they do? In fact, just now, Ye Wei had exploded in anger upon seeing Wang Qian chatting enthusiastically with Fei Hu. He felt a bit sour inside, and on top of that, he had just had a big fight with Ye Xiaofei over the payment issue. "It's nothing! Your grandfather asked me to call you and said he wants to discuss something tonight. He wants you to come home early and bring Fei Hu along," Sister Wu said before hanging up.
Ye Xiaofei leaned back in her chair and couldn't help but think of Fei Hu. On her first day at work, he had actually touched and looked at her chest in the elevator. In Great Forest, his bravery and intelligence made her almost give up her prejudice against him. But then one night, he took advantage of her again. She could say she both hated Fei Hu and couldn’t completely erase him from her heart. At the Dragon Tiger Gang's Annual Meeting, Fei Hu's outstanding performance opened her tightly shut heart towards him without any reservations. But this guy seemed not to care about her at all.
Ye Xiaofei felt extremely troubled; she knew that this matter couldn’t be forced but needed to be nurtured slowly. However, when she thought about how she had tormented Fei Hu in the past, she felt uncertain.
At that moment, the computer on her desk suddenly flashed, and a foreigner’s face appeared on the screen. Ye Xiaofei recognized him as Jack, her classmate from America. He had been very nice to her during her studies there. However, despite living in America for many years and being influenced by traditional values since childhood, she had never even dated a boyfriend, let alone anything else. So when Fei Hu touched her chest, she almost wanted to eliminate him from existence. But gradually, she realized that she had strayed from the path of life and had been adjusting herself ever since.
Ye Xiaofei looked down and saw that Jack was requesting a video call with her. After hesitating for a moment, she pressed to decline it and quickly typed a message: "Jack, go to sleep! It must be very late where you are, but I’m at work right now and very busy. I don’t have time to chat with you. Besides, it's working hours; chatting is not allowed. Also, I read your email; I can only tell you I'm sorry because my heart already belongs to someone else."
After closing the chat window, Ye Xiaofei felt a bit flushed; where was that beloved person? Was it this annoying security guard with those eyes that always wandered around women so brazenly? He was such an unabashed lecher! The thought of liking him made Ye Xiaofei laugh at herself for such absurdity.
Why did Helena resign without even giving herself a heads-up? Fei Hu sat in the lobby and couldn’t help but think of her. To be honest, this woman had treated Fei Hu quite well; if it weren't for her, whether he could enter this company would still be uncertain. With this thought in mind, Fei Hu could no longer sit still; he secretly took out his phone from his pocket and placed it in the drawer before pulling out Helena's phone number and dialing it. However, he heard from the receiver: "The number you dialed is turned off."
Fei Hu couldn't help but chuckle; wasn't this just following my lead?
Just when he was puzzled, the phone on the table rang. Before Fei Hu could say anything, a silver bell-like voice came from the receiver: "Fei Hu, after work, don't eat at the office. Just go to the intersection in front and wait for me. Grandpa wants to treat you to dinner and chat. You can't refuse."
Fei Hu thought to himself that these women were acting strangely today. How could they know it was him without him saying a word? Suddenly, an idea struck him, and a mischievous smile appeared on his face. He lowered his voice and said into the microphone, "Sorry, Fei Hu just stepped out. Should I have him come back and call you?" He thought to himself that Ye Xiaofei would probably get nervous now.
Unexpectedly, Ye Xiaofei paused for a moment on the phone before suddenly shouting, "Fei Hu, don't make international jokes! I could recognize you even if you skinned yourself and stuffed grass inside! Do whatever you want; I don't care if you go or not." Ye Xiaofei abruptly hung up. Listening to the beeping sound after the disconnection, Fei Hu thought to himself that it was over. He had intended to make a joke but ended up making Ye Xiaofei angry.
After the afternoon shift, Fei Hu stood honestly at the intersection, waiting for Ye Xiaofei to arrive. It was a cold winter day without sunshine, and the chilly street wind blew up the hem of Fei Hu's trench coat. He hurriedly stomped his feet and bounced around at the corner, eager to ride in Ye Xiaofei's car—something he had dreamed of.
Suddenly, a gust of cold wind swept past Fei Hu. When he turned around, he saw Ye Xiaofei's Z4 parked more than ten meters away at the crosswalk. Fei Hu hurriedly ran over, opened the car door, and got in.
As Ye Xiaofei drove, she smiled and asked Fei Hu, "Where are you planning to go? Why did you just get in without saying anything? I’ll tell you now; I'm going home. If you're not coming with me, get out of the car. Don't act like I'm forcing you."
Fei Hu chuckled and said, "I was just joking; you really got mad! I was just curious how you knew it was me when you don’t have eyes that can see miles away. Plus, as soon as I raised my hand, you all knew."
"Did anyone else look for you today?" Ye Xiaofei asked curiously.
Fei Hu thought for a moment and replied, "Yes! Wang Qian looked for me this morning. Not long after I went in, the chairman came and scolded me badly; it was infuriating." Fei Hu shook his head helplessly as he spoke.
Ye Xiaofei laughed and said, "Are you really that clueless or just pretending? Doesn’t our company have cameras installed from the lobby to all the hallways?"
"Yes, there are cameras installed. What does that have to do with you?" Fei Hu replied with some confusion.
Ye Xiaofei increased her speed slightly and said, "That's exactly it! Our computers are all regionally shared now. Besides, we executives have access to retrieve video footage; it's very easy for us to check wherever we want. So as long as you're under a camera, there's nothing we can't see. Even if you just move your hand slightly, I can see it clearly."
Fei Hu suddenly realized what was going on; it turned out that this high-tech stuff was just a facade. The mystery in his heart was finally unraveled, and it seemed he needed to study hard, or else he would really fall behind.
With the misunderstanding cleared up, the two began chatting freely. In the midst of their conversation, Fei Hu didn't even notice that the car had already driven into the villa. As soon as he got out of the car, Yingzi ran over and said with a smile, "Sister Xiaofei said you didn't want to come and even lied to her. I really thought you weren't coming!"
Fei Hu glanced at Ye Xiaofei with a strange look in his eyes. This woman was quite quick with her words; she had told Yingzi about this matter. Feeling embarrassed, Fei Hu scratched his head and said, "I was just joking. I didn't expect to be monitored so early, which exposed me and almost made Miss Ye angry enough not to give me a ride." As he spoke, he made a face at Ye Xiaofei.
The three young people chatted and laughed as they walked toward the living room. Suddenly, Ye Xiaofei gave Fei Hu's bald head a light tap and asked softly, "Didn't I send you a hat? Why aren't you wearing it? Is it because you don't like it?"
Fei Hu thought to himself that it wasn't that he didn't like it; in fact, he liked it too much to wear it. However, inside the villa, he dared not speak carelessly. If Ye Cheng heard him, it would be quite embarrassing. So, Fei Hu smiled and replied, "I woke up a bit late this morning and didn't feel cold, so I didn't wear it."
Ye Xiaofei seemed a bit skeptical. Just as she was about to dig deeper into the matter, Ye Cheng cheerfully came down the stairs. As he walked down, he said with a smile, "Today we can have a meal in the living room. These few nannies have been given a long break by Sister Wu and won't be back until after ten tonight, so we can eat casually and chat freely."
As Ye Cheng spoke, he sat down next to Fei Hu with a kind expression on his face. It seemed that he was in a very good mood today. Fei Hu pondered whether he should return the Jade Pendant to him tonight.
