Just when Fei Hu was feeling troubled, Ye Xiaofei knocked on the door and rushed in. Upon seeing Fei Hu, she asked in surprise, "What's wrong? Is something going on again?" Ye Xiaofei asked eagerly.
Ye Cheng waved his hand, signaling Ye Xiaofei to sit beside him, and then smiled as he explained the whole situation. It turned out that Ye Xiaofei was unaware of this matter; it was a decision made by Ye Cheng and Yingzi.
Ye Xiaofei took a sip of tea and said somewhat displeased, "This matter definitely needs to be investigated, but why didn't you discuss it with me? If I hadn't come back, would you have kept it from me?"
"Sister Xiaofei, you're overthinking it. Grandpa has seen you dealing with a lot of troubles lately and didn't want to add to your burden. He wanted to resolve this matter first before telling you. Besides, this afternoon when I called you, didn't you say you were going to hold a meeting? So..." Yingzi trailed off.
Upon hearing this, Ye Xiaofei looked at Ye Cheng with deep emotion and sighed, "I've been a bit irritable lately and may have spoken too hastily. Please bear with me. What's the current situation? Have you all discussed it?"
Ye Cheng smiled but remained silent. Fei Hu lowered his head and began to think about the matter. Since he saved Ye Cheng, everything had become intertwined with the Ye Family—from the Great Forest to the Annual Meeting—he replayed each event over and over in his mind. In the room, everyone was silent, waiting for Fei Hu's final response. Time passed slowly; his answer was essentially just one sentence, but it concerned the nature of his relationship with the Ye Family moving forward.
Ye Xiaofei walked over and gently poured some water into Fei Hu's cup. She said nothing but understood that this decision was very difficult for him. She couldn't force him; what if something unexpected happened along the way?
After more than half an hour had passed, Fei Hu finally came to a conclusion. Ever since he saved Ye Cheng, he had been tied to the Ye Family's affairs. Now it would be difficult to separate himself unless he left A City. Moreover, considering his current relationship with Ye Xiaofei, could he really ignore it? With this thought in mind, Fei Hu nodded and said, "Alright! I'll go."
Fei Hu's words brought great joy to everyone. Yingzi quickly smiled and said, "To help Sister Xiaofei get things moving as soon as possible, I'll book tickets right away. If all goes well, we can set off tomorrow. The sooner we handle this matter, the better."
Fei Hu nodded in agreement. Ye Xiaofei looked at Fei Hu tenderly and said softly, "Prepare a couple more sets of clothes. This trip's duration is unpredictable; we don't know when we'll be back. If everything goes smoothly, you can also take some time to explore around—it's rare to go out like this—but unfortunately, I can't go." Ye Xiaofei shook her head with a helpless expression.
"Yes! Xiaofei is right; don't put too much pressure on yourselves. No matter how things go, just treat it as a trip," Ye Cheng added. "Yingzi, remember to bring plenty of cash; make sure your card balance is sufficient. Being out there is different from being at home; even a penny can be hard for heroes." Hearing their words made Fei Hu feel somewhat moved.
In the end, everyone agreed that Fei Hu should ask Wang Qian for half a month's leave, claiming that his grandfather was ill and he urgently needed to return tomorrow. This would help keep things under wraps.
Once this decision was made, Ye Xiaofei immediately instructed Fei Hu to make the call. Not knowing her intentions, Fei Hu felt quite helpless in front of so many people. However, he couldn't refuse and steeled himself to dial Wang Qian's phone number. He was worried that Wang Qian might act coy on the phone, and if others overheard, it would be quite embarrassing.
As soon as the call connected, Fei Hu stood up and walked to the window, speaking softly, "Hello, Vice President Wang, this is Fei Hu. I have an urgent matter that needs your assistance."
"Oh! Darling! Why are you being so polite today? Are you missing me? I'll drive over to see you right away, okay?" Wang Qian's voice was sweet and alluring. Fortunately, Fei Hu held the phone tightly to his ear so only he could hear.
"My grandfather is sick, and I urgently need to go back tomorrow. Please approve my leave; I'll submit the leave form to HR when I return," Fei Hu ignored Wang Qian's flirtation and focused on his request.
There was a pause on the other end of the line as Wang Qian clearly became displeased. She replied angrily, "You spend every day with Ye Xiaofei. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to ask her? You're just making unnecessary trouble."
Fei Hu chuckled and said, "You're in charge of HR; she doesn't have the authority here. This is how it’s going to be. I'll thank you properly when I get back."
This seemed to resonate with Wang Qian, who smiled lightly and said, "Alright, you can go! But as for thanks, just know that I want to give you a good bite; do you know how infuriating you are?"
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu felt a slight flush on his face. He quickly replied, "Okay, I have some matters to attend to. Goodbye." Without waiting for Wang Qian to respond, he hung up. He knew that once she started talking, it could go on indefinitely.
While everyone chatted casually, Sister Wu instructed the maid to bring out some late-night snacks. The group gathered around and happily began eating together; anyone unaware would think they were family.
At the same time that Fei Hu and the others were enjoying their late-night meal, Wang Qian happened to run into Ye Wei. They were sitting in a car when Wang Qian, looking displeased, said, "What time is it? You still have the energy to chase after women?"
With a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, Ye Wei laughed and reached for Wang Qian's chest. She swatted his hand away angrily and said, "If you keep messing around like this, I'm leaving right now. You handle this yourself; if anything goes wrong, you're responsible."
"Wang Qian," upon hearing this, sat up straight and shook his head, saying, "That Fei Hu is just a troublemaker. The night before last, I invited a few people to put some pressure on Ye Xiaofei to make her leave Sheng Wei quickly. To my surprise, Fei Hu was having dinner with Ye Xiaofei. This group of useless guys had some grudges against Fei Hu and thought they could take advantage of him being drunk to achieve two goals at once. Who would have thought that after drinking, Fei Hu would become even stronger and take down five of them?"
"You are useless for hiring such good-for-nothings. Luckily, they have a grudge against Fei Hu; otherwise, after getting beaten up, if Fei Hu had questioned them, wouldn't everything be exposed?" Wang Qian said irritably.
Ye Wei cleared his throat and argued, "It's not that; it's just that this kid is too formidable. I hired the A City Five Wolves; they have some reputation on the streets. If Fei Hu hadn't been there, Ye Xiaofei might have been scared out of her wits and wouldn't dare come to work now."
"You really are hopeless. You didn't think this through. Right when things are tense, you go and do something like this. What if it causes a stir and provokes the old man? Do you think he would let you off? You should have been more subtle and waited until our conflicts had eased a bit before doing something that wouldn't cause serious harm. If you hurt her feelings, she would naturally leave Sheng Wei. Threatening and intimidating is the dumbest approach," Wang Qian said, slapping the steering wheel in frustration.
Ye Wei smiled and flattered Wang Qian, saying, "From now on, I'll listen to you about these matters. Recently, I've been so annoyed by her that I resorted to such desperate measures. You wouldn't be looking for me so urgently because you miss me, would you?"
Wang Qian snorted coldly and said, "Fei Hu just called to say he’s taking half a month off starting tomorrow because his grandfather is sick and he needs to go back home to see him."
"That's great! With him gone, I won't have to deal with the annoyance. I've been wanting to find an opportunity to get rid of him. But here you are wanting to play the good guy. Are you reluctant to let him go because you want to keep him around?" Ye Wei said as his thoughts wandered off.
Wang Qian shot him a fierce glare and said, "You can't expect anything good from someone like you who spends all day thinking about these petty criminals. Have you ever considered why Fei Hu would ask me for leave? Wouldn't it be more convenient for him to ask Ye Xiaofei? Could it be that they are planning something together? You need to be careful; that batch of goods is under tight scrutiny right now, and we can't afford any mistakes; otherwise, we're both finished." As Wang Qian spoke, his delicate face appeared somewhat cold under the dim light.
Hearing Wang Qian's words made Ye Wei sober up halfway. After pondering for a moment, he said, "The personnel for this transport were all carefully selected by Third Brother. The leader is one of his capable subordinates, Abiao. I've met him; he's an old hand with years of experience in this line of work. There shouldn't be any major issues with this operation. However, since you've noticed a problem, we need to pay close attention."
"Remember, during this time, do not take any actions against Ye Xiaofei to avoid worsening the situation beyond repair. You can keep her around; I'll make sure she leaves obediently," Wang Qian said with a terrifying smile on his face.
