The sun rose higher and higher, and Fei Hu and Yingzi, sitting in the tree, kept shifting positions. The annoying southern weather was unbearably hot, and within a short time, sweat soaked their clothes, clinging to their skin, making them extremely uncomfortable.
Unable to discern anything, Yingzi stubbornly refused to go back. Finally, when it reached eleven o'clock, Yingzi suddenly called out softly to Fei Hu, who was wiping sweat off his brow: "Look, they are moving!"
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu quickly snatched the binoculars from Yingzi's hands and looked towards the Breeding Farm. At the side gate of the Breeding Farm, Xu Yanfei was talking to a man, occasionally gesturing with her hands. After a minute or two, Xu Yanfei pushed her bicycle onto the Main Road. Fei Hu hurriedly said to Yingzi: "Xu Yanfei seems to be going out."
Yingzi pondered for a moment and said: "Is she going out at this time to bring food for those inside?"
"Yeah! I think that's about right," Fei Hu nodded confidently.
The heat continued to rise, as if trying to roast them alive. The tree trunk where Fei Hu and the others were sitting began to feel hot as well. Seeing Yingzi's uncomfortable expression, Fei Hu whispered: "Let's get down! This isn't helping; we need to come up with a plan to sneak in and figure things out. If it's not what we're looking for, then we've wasted our time here."
After thinking for a moment, Yingzi agreed that Fei Hu was right. The two of them climbed down from the tree. Although it was a bit stuffy under the tree, it was much better than being up high. They found a shaded spot and sat down to discuss their next course of action.
After thinking it over, they couldn't come up with any feasible plans because during the day, it was impossible to approach the Breeding Farm. If they weren't careful, they would be spotted. If it were really Little Four and his gang, Fei Hu and Yingzi would be recognized quickly. Just as they were at a loss for what to do, a Pickup Truck drove down the Main Road. The side of the truck had large red letters saying "For You Delivery Truck." It was clear that three people were sitting in the front: one male driver and two women.
As the truck approached within twenty or thirty meters of the entrance, suddenly, a gap opened in the gate of the Breeding Farm, and someone ran out, waving for the truck to stop. The person pointed and said something to those inside before walking away.
"Strange, they don't even allow delivery trucks into this yard; it seems very tightly guarded," Yingzi remarked. Just then, they saw the delivery truck open its doors, and two women jumped out. They lifted a large iron barrel from the back seat and carried it towards the Breeding Farm.
Fei Hu raised the binoculars for a closer look and saw that there were many more containers in the truck. Suddenly inspired, he shoved the binoculars into Yingzi's hands and said: "Here's our chance!" With that, he took off running.
Yingzi did not understand her meaning and asked softly, "Where are you going?"
Fei Hu ignored her. Taking advantage of the cover of the forest, he leaped a few times and approached a delivery truck parked by the main road. He saw the driver dozing off inside, so Fei Hu rolled forward and slipped under the truck. Just as he straightened up, the two women who had just brought in a barrel came out, cursing. One of them shouted, "These damn men are so lazy! They can't even help carry the vegetables. They won't let the truck drive in either. Do they really think this place is a palace? It's just a pig farm!"
"Just focus on your work and stop talking so much. Can't you see how fierce those people look? Don't provoke them," one of the women advised.
Seeing that the women were getting close to the truck, Fei Hu hurriedly grabbed the pull handle under the vehicle and pressed himself against the bottom of the truck. When the two women each carried a barrel away, Fei Hu dropped down and ran to the back door, lifting two barrels of vegetables from the truck and following the women at a distance toward the breeding farm.
Fei Hu pulled his hat down low and wore big sunglasses, making it nearly impossible for anyone to recognize him at a glance. As he entered through the main gate, he casually glanced at the guard room and saw four muscular young men sitting inside with bare shoulders and backs. Fei Hu could tell at a glance that these men were likely involved in some shady business due to their hairstyles and tattoos, which set them apart from ordinary people.
The breeding yard was indeed large, with seven or eight containers and more than ten large trucks parked without making it feel crowded. Fei Hu couldn't understand why such a large space was needed for a breeding farm rather than a racetrack.
As he walked and observed, he noticed that there seemed to be people inside more than ten temporary houses. Goodness, there must be at least twenty or thirty people guarding this place! What could be so valuable here? Gold or meth? Fei Hu thought about it and quickened his pace. By the time he realized it, the two women had disappeared into one of the rooms, leaving him momentarily stunned.
"Hey! Can you hurry up? Do you want to starve me?" shouted a bald man standing in front of one of the doors.
Fei Hu cursed inwardly and quickened his steps, jogging over. Upon entering, he saw several office desks pushed together in the middle of the room where the two women were arranging bowls. Without saying a word, Fei Hu placed his barrels on the table and turned to leave.
As he was about to exit, he glanced inside again and noticed that this office had another room behind it with an open door. In the corner on a sofa sat someone fanning themselves with a newspaper while cursing, "What kind of lousy place is this? It's nothing but hot!" Although it was just a quick glance, Fei Hu's heart sank; that person was none other than Little Four.
With an uneasy feeling in his heart, Fei Hu stepped out of the office. What should he do? Just walk out like this? His mind started racing when suddenly two words flashed in his mind: restroom. Yes, he could hide there for now and think of another way out. With that thought, Fei Hu slowly made his way toward the restroom.
The temporary house had a simple restroom as well. When Fei Hu entered, there was no one inside, but a foul odor nearly made him gag. As he walked toward the back, he discovered another door leading outside. Feeling relieved, he cautiously pushed it open and stepped through to find a small courtyard with several rooms filled with clutter visible through open windows.
In the last room, the window was only slightly ajar. Fei Hu gently pushed it open and took a quick look inside. There was a metal bed with a high-low frame, covered with a straw mat, and several pieces of women's clothing on top. One of the outfits, resembling work clothes, had a name tag attached to it, which featured a photo and a name. Fei Hu squinted to see better and exclaimed, "My goodness, this name tag belongs to Xu Yanfei! Could this be her resting place?"
Fei Hu pushed the door, but it was locked from the inside. Just as he felt disappointed, he noticed that the window was very close to the door. A glimmer of hope surged in his heart. He reached through the window and, to his fortune, his hand could just touch the lock handle. With a twist, the door opened. Fei Hu hurriedly slipped inside, closed the window, and locked the door behind him.
Finally feeling relieved, Fei Hu scanned the room. It was indeed Xu Yanfei's resting place. In one corner, there was a kitchen knife and a cutting board, and stacked against the wall were bags that had once contained feed. Looking further back, he saw a narrow space suitable for sleeping. Fei Hu couldn't help but chuckle; it seemed that Xu Yanfei knew how to make do with whatever she had.
Suddenly, he heard noises outside. Oh no! Fei Hu had overlooked an important detail: this room had doors on both sides. They had seen through the telescope that Xu Yanfei had exited through the side door; she must have gone out that way. Unfortunately, there were no windows on that side, so he couldn't see what was happening outside.
At that moment, he heard the sound of the key turning in the lock, and his heart raced again. What should he do? If Xu Yanfei opened the door and saw him inside, she would surely scream. In a panic, Fei Hu quickly stepped back and noticed where Xu Yanfei usually lazed around to sleep. Just as he squeezed into that spot, the door swung open.
Tilting his head slightly, he caught sight of everything in the room just as Xu Yanfei entered and immediately locked the door behind her. She tossed her small bag onto the bed and lifted her pink skirt to fan herself. This woman was quite resourceful; as she fanned herself while moving about, Fei Hu caught sight of her deep red underwear. His heart began to race; hey! Her figure wasn't bad at all—though her skin was a bit dark.
Just then, footsteps echoed in the courtyard along with a voice calling out: "Is Miss Xu here?"
Xu Yanfei quickly dropped her skirt and replied nervously, "Oh! I just got back; I hope you don't mind what I made for dinner!" As she spoke, she opened the door.
Two people walked in from outside. Peering through a gap in the bags, Fei Hu's heart sank in shock—it was them!
