Fei Hu had encountered women before, but being teased by this woman in public made his face turn slightly red, causing Yingzi to laugh uncontrollably beside him.
"Hey! You’re still laughing? This is actually your fault. If you had stayed a little closer to me earlier or held my arm, would that woman have come out to cause a scene?" Fei Hu said, shooting an annoyed glance at Yingzi.
Yingzi shook her head and teased, "Oh! Feeling shy now? But when you were looking inside just now, you seemed so natural, and your face wasn't this red!"
Fei Hu felt a bit embarrassed and angry at Yingzi's words. He lifted his chin and strode forward. Seeing that he was genuinely upset, Yingzi hurried after him, reaching out to link her arm with his and asked with a smile, "Is this better?"
Feeling pleased, Fei Hu finally smiled and said, "Yeah! Not bad." The two of them playfully walked toward the end of the alley.
After some time, they spotted a hardware store with a sign that read "Key Duplication." Fei Hu walked over and called inside, "Is anyone here? I need a key duplicated."
As soon as he finished speaking, a plump middle-aged man emerged from the back, rubbing his eyes and looking somewhat displeased. He asked, "What do you want to duplicate a key for at this hour?"
Fei Hu quickly pulled out the soap from his pocket and held it out in front of the man, saying, "Duplicate it according to this."
The middle-aged man didn’t even lift his hands. He first glanced at Fei Hu and Yingzi, then shook his head and said, "I can't duplicate that; I don't have the skill. What are you two doing here?"
"Since you can't duplicate it, why ask what we're doing? Isn’t that pointless?" Yingzi tugged at Fei Hu, ready to leave.
The middle-aged man called out, "Wait! You’ve got quite the temper there. I can duplicate it, but it'll cost more."
"Why not say so earlier? How much is it? Just tell us," Yingzi replied in a rather unfriendly tone.
Only then did the middle-aged man take the soap from Fei Hu, look around for a moment, and say, "The key is quite ordinary; however, duplicating it from this will be somewhat challenging. Give me one hundred bucks! I’ll take care of it for you. I’m the only one on this street who does key duplication, so don’t bother looking elsewhere."
Ah! No wonder he’s so difficult; he’s monopolizing the business. Just as Fei Hu was about to protest that it was too expensive, Yingzi lowered her voice and said, "One hundred is fine, but you must get it right. If I have to come back tomorrow to find you again, you can forget about doing business." Yingzi had a somewhat domineering demeanor.
The middle-aged man chuckled and said, "Don’t worry; I’ve been doing this for over twenty years. The quality is absolutely guaranteed." With that, he turned and walked inside.
The middle-aged man came out shortly, holding two keys and a bar of soap. Fei Hu took them and wanted to gesture a bit, but Yingzi softly said, "Stop gesturing, let's go!" After saying that, she pulled out a hundred yuan bill and handed it to the middle-aged man.
With the keys in hand, things became much easier for the two of them. They were both happy and joking as they headed back the way they came. However, when they reached the entrance of the salon where Fei Hu had been stopped by a woman earlier, that same woman rushed out from inside, blocking their path and shouting, "Brother Xiang, it's these two outsiders!"
Fei Hu was taken aback, not understanding what was happening. Three tall young men walked out from the salon. The one in the middle had a shaved head, his short shirt open to reveal a patch of dark chest hair. He had a toothpick in his mouth that he kept rolling around, and his eyes were glaring at Fei Hu in a somewhat intimidating manner.
Seeing this, Yingzi pulled on Fei Hu's arm and whispered, "Let's go! Don't pay attention to them."
The bald man extended his hand with a forced smile and said, "Welcome, distant guests! Come inside for a seat; we have both male and female services to ensure your satisfaction."
Upon hearing this, Yingzi raised her eyebrows and pushed aside the bald man's arm blocking their way. She grabbed Fei Hu and started to leave. The bald man hurriedly stepped back with his two companions and laughed heartily, "This girl has some strength; I like it!" His companions joined in the laughter.
A few passersby who weren't initially paying attention gathered around. Seeing this, the bald man smiled at them and said, "This is my girlfriend; she's just throwing a tantrum. Everyone should look away." As he spoke, he reached out to grab Yingzi's arm.
Fei Hu initially wanted to hold back since he had important matters later that night and didn't want to cause trouble. But seeing the situation unfold before him made it clear that he couldn't just stand by while Yingzi was pushed forward.
Just as the bald man's hand was only a few centimeters away from Yingzi's arm, Fei Hu suddenly made his move. He lunged forward with an arm swing; there was a muffled grunt from the bald man as his expression changed slightly, revealing a fierce glare. He angrily shouted, "You little punk! Brothers, get him! If anything happens, I'll take responsibility!"
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu signaled to Yingzi with a shrug. He hadn't fought in days and felt a bit uncomfortable about it. As soon as the bald man took up a fighting stance along with his two companions, they charged at him. A flurry of punches and kicks ensued with sounds of impact mixed with several screams. By the time everyone realized what was happening, the bald man and his two friends were already lying on the ground.
Fei Hu turned back to look inside the salon; all the women had vanished without a trace.
"What’s going on? What’s happening? Are you bored or something? Why are you fighting?" The crowd began to disperse as two patrol officers approached, both appearing to be around thirty years old.
The bald man and his companions started howling as soon as they saw the police: "Ouch! My arm! It hurts so much; it might be broken!" Their cries grew louder.
At that moment, the woman who had instigated everything appeared again from somewhere. She ran up to one of the officers and cried out, "Officer Zhang! You have to help us! These two outsiders came here causing trouble and even hurt some of my friends; you can't ignore this!" She leaned her ample chest against the officer.
The officer named Zhang glared at her and shouted loudly, "Everyone shut up! We need to investigate this matter; we can't just listen to your side of the story. You all go away! Xiao Li, take all involved parties away for questioning."
Fei Hu felt like he was about to explode with anger. What kind of ridiculous police were these? Without asking any questions or understanding what happened, they wanted to take everyone away—wasn't that going to mess things up? Just as he was about to argue back, Yingzi gently tugged at his sleeve, signaling him not to say anything for now.
A police car rushed in, driving everyone away, except for that woman who was shouting and refusing to get in. Officer Zhang shouted, "Zhang Lijuan, if you don't want to cooperate, that's fine. You're already on our list. If you refuse to come, I'll just seal your shop first. You can reopen it once this matter is cleared up."
This tactic really worked; the woman wiped her tears and jumped into the car. Fei Hu was furious, thinking that no matter where he went, he couldn't escape dealing with the police.
Peach Hill Police Station looked quite substantial from the outside, at least the office building was impressive.
The same process followed: questioning, taking notes. Once everything was done, it was stated that Fei Hu had assaulted someone and disturbed public order, resulting in a fine of three thousand and administrative detention for seven days. Upon hearing this outcome, Fei Hu immediately shouted out loud. Yingzi patted his shoulder and politely said to the investigating officer, "Could I use your phone? I need to call someone to bring the fine."
Officer Zhang smiled upon hearing this and said, "Of course you can. Your attitude is good. But your boyfriend has quite a temper, which won't do him any favors. If you can pay a little more, we can waive the seven days of administrative detention. This isn't mandatory; you can discuss it."
Yingzi smiled and replied, "It's fine; it's not a big deal. Let me make the call first."
Yingzi grabbed the phone and dialed, but the call didn't go through. She asked, "Is this phone unable to make long-distance calls?"
Officer Zhang pointed to the adjacent room and said impatiently, "You can make calls over there."
Yingzi smirked and walked toward the next room. After quite some time, she returned. Officer Zhang's face darkened as he said, "It took you so long; you'll have to cover the phone bill yourself."
"Small problem; I'll pay," Yingzi responded cheerfully.
This wasn't like Yingzi at all; what was going on with her? She was so obedient today; it wasn't like she hadn't seen police officers before. Fei Hu felt utterly confused.
