Time passed slowly. Fei Hu's eyes were fixed on the television, but his mind had already flown outside. He was about to travel at night again, and he couldn't help but glance at Yingzi, who was leaning against the headboard with a furrowed brow. He knew that her wound must be hurting a lot at that moment.
Fei Hu had never felt such anxiety before. He paced by the window, thinking about what would happen if something went wrong. Yingzi was injured and unable to move easily; if she had to take action, it would definitely affect her recovery. What should he do? Fei Hu's heart was in turmoil.
Suddenly, he stopped and said to Yingzi, "You go ahead first. I'll call another car behind you; it will be safer that way."
Yingzi opened her eyes, shook her head, and smiled wryly as she said, "There's no need for that. I don't believe they are so clever that they can predict everything. If that's the case, I’ll accept it."
"Still, it's better to be cautious. Things in this world are really unpredictable. What if by coincidence we run into them? It's not impossible; I believe it," Fei Hu replied, recalling what happened that afternoon. It seemed that coincidences were not just a saying but truly existed.
Yingzi stood up, put on a sun hat, and rummaged through her bag for a moment before pulling out a white mask and putting it on her ears. To Fei Hu's surprise, she also took out a wig from her bag and gently placed it on her head. Then she turned to him and asked, "Can you still recognize me like this?"
Wow! She looked completely different; it seemed Yingzi had come prepared. Going downstairs like this, no one would recognize her—even acquaintances wouldn’t know who she was. Fei Hu nodded and said, "This works. Do you have another wig? I want to wear one too."
Yingzi covered her mouth with her hand and laughed so hard she bent over. She softly said, "With your build, if you wear a wig, you'll scare the pigs away." Fei Hu shot her an annoyed glance as he picked up the bag from the bed and got ready to leave.
Yingzi glanced at the time on the television and pulled out a Nine-section Whip from her bag, asking Fei Hu, "Do you know how to use this? If you do, take it with you; it might come in handy."
Fei Hu took it and weighed it in his hand before saying, "I’m proficient in all kinds of weapons." With that, he casually wrapped the Nine-section Whip around his waist so that if anything happened, he could use it without any hassle.
Just as they reached the stairway, they heard a familiar voice asking Boss Lady, "Can you help me check if there's a Mr. Zhu living here? He's about twenty-six or twenty-seven years old and looks quite impressive."
"Nope! No pigs or cows or even donkeys here! Are you just looking for trouble?" The voice belonged to Boss Lady; it was clear that these two were somewhat familiar with each other.
Yingzi stepped down first while Fei Hu followed closely behind her. He raised his head slightly and thought to himself, Oh my God! It's Xu Yanfei again! Why is she always around? Her presence seems to follow them everywhere.
As soon as Yingzi walked down, she spotted Xu Yanfei. Wanting to retreat was no longer an option, so she had no choice but to brace herself and pretend not to know anyone as she continued down the stairs. Fei Hu reacted quickly and stepped back.
Fei Hu listened intently, feeling relieved that they hadn’t recognized Yingzi. Hearing her footsteps, he finally relaxed. He crawled on the stairs and peeked out, seeing Xu Yanfei bent over the bar, holding a registration book and flipping through the pages while cursing under her breath: “Damn it! I clearly saw him enter your hotel. I just left! How come there's no record of him now? Is his name fake?” Xu Yanfei was indeed street-smart; at least she could think of this.
What to do now? Neither going up nor down seemed feasible. Fei Hu kept scratching his head, needing to come up with a way to make her leave.
Suddenly, a loud ringtone echoed, followed by Xu Yanfei's somewhat spoiled voice: “I told you I’m not coming tonight. It’s useless for you to drive over; I really don’t want to go… What? The car is already at the entrance of my neighborhood? That old director! How did he leak my address again? I’ll deal with him tomorrow.” As she spoke, Xu Yanfei walked toward the door.
Fei Hu hurried downstairs, exchanged a few polite words with Boss Lady, and turned to head outside.
Watching Fei Hu's retreating figure, Boss Lady couldn't help but chuckle: “Business is good; the room will be ready for someone else soon.”
As soon as Fei Hu stepped outside, he saw a rental car parked by the roadside. He immediately approached it and saw Yingzi sitting inside. Without hesitation, he reached for the car door when suddenly a woman’s voice came from behind: “Oh! Mr. Pig, where are you off to at this hour?”
Fei Hu turned around and found it was Xu Yanfei again, appearing out of nowhere. He was furious but suppressed his anger as he prepared to say something when suddenly a car sped past him and screeched to a halt right behind Xu Yanfei. Looking up, he realized it was Abiao and Little Four inside.
Fei Hu didn’t have time to talk to Xu Yanfei anymore; he rushed over, opened the car door, and sat down shouting: “Drive!”
Fortunately, the driver was quick on his feet, and the rental car took off as Xu Yanfei's voice called out from behind: “Hey! Mr. Pig, what are you doing?”
“Speed up, driver! I’ll pay you extra when we get there!” Fei Hu glanced back and shouted.
The driver didn’t respond but accelerated nonetheless. Yingzi quietly asked, “What’s going on? Is there another problem?”
Fei Hu nodded and replied: “It’s that jinx again. As soon as she shouted, I turned around just in time for Little Four and Abiao to see everything clearly.”
“This troublesome woman really has her eyes on you. She keeps looking for you; it’s like both fortune and misfortune come from her,” Yingzi said angrily shaking her head. But what could they do about it?
Fei Hu turned around and saw the flashing headlights of a car behind him. He knew clearly that Abiao and Little Four were definitely chasing after them. What should he do? He couldn't keep urging the driver; it was late at night, they were on a provincial road, and once they left the city, there were no streetlights. It was pitch dark, and accidents were bound to happen. Fei Hu's heart began to race again.
Beside him, Yingzi bit her lip and suddenly said gently to the driver, "Master, you've been driving all day, and now you're on a night road. It must be tiring. Why not let him drive? He's also a Master Driver with over ten years of experience. You can trust his safety; just watch from the side. You'll see if he can handle it."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu inwardly cursed Yingzi for bragging without thinking. "How old am I? Over ten years of experience? Isn't that a bit far-fetched?"
The driver thought for a moment and said, "Alright then, let's give this young man a chance. But it's best to take it slow at this hour." With that, he pulled the car over to the side of the road.
Fei Hu quickly jumped out of the car. Time was of the essence; they were racing against time, and whoever could go faster would win. As soon as he sat in the driver's seat, he pressed the clutch, released the handbrake, and stepped on the gas all in one motion. The car roared and shot forward. Fei Hu gripped the steering wheel tightly, focused intently ahead, and the speed noticeably increased.
The car behind them was likely held back because the driver was hesitant to speed up, and perhaps there were too many people in that car as well; they maintained a distance of about five to six hundred meters.
The driver sitting next to Fei Hu chuckled and said, "Young man, my car is old and not very fast. Don't treat it like a race car; if you push it too hard, it might break down, and that would be a big problem. Is there a car chasing us?"
"Less talking; we'll deal with it if the car can't move anymore," Fei Hu replied somewhat harshly. The driver sensed something was off; these two clearly had something going on, and he hadn't assessed this job properly—he had only focused on the money.
The atmosphere in the car grew tense as no one spoke. Fei Hu drove without slowing down regardless of whether the road was smooth or bumpy. The car jolted violently at times, making it hard for everyone to stay seated. The driver felt pained but dared not voice his frustration.
"Master, don't worry about your car; once we reach our destination, I'll give you extra money to have it serviced properly," Yingzi said. "To be honest with you, that car behind us is indeed chasing us, so we absolutely cannot slow down. Please understand."
"Actually, we could take a right turn at the next intersection and lose them without all this trouble," the driver suddenly suggested.
