When Fei Hu returned to the hotel, Yingzi was watching television. She smiled and said, "I thought you weren't coming back."
"Where would I go if I didn't come back?" Fei Hu retorted.
"Well, as the general manager, you can't even arrange a place to sleep? What kind of Boss does that make you?" Yingzi said with a mischievous grin.
Fei Hu then understood the implication of Yingzi's words. He grabbed a cushion from the sofa and threw it at her, and the two of them immediately started playfully wrestling like two innocent children.
After they had their fun, Yingzi asked seriously, "So, what is she like? It can't just be about having coffee and dinner, right?"
Fei Hu sighed deeply and recounted his entire encounter with Tang Lan to Yingzi without holding back, including the part where Tang Lan offered him a high salary to hire him.
"You didn't agree, which shows you have some sense. This offer sounds very tempting, but if you think about it carefully, you'll see many issues. First, she made it very clear that she appreciates your skills, which basically means your job would be her personal bodyguard. There will definitely be fighting and settling scores involved. Second, she said your position would be her personal assistant. The problem lies in what 'personal' means—does it only involve work-related tasks or does it include accompanying her for meals and more? That's a matter of boundaries."
Fei Hu was taken aback and asked, "It can't be as sinister as you're suggesting; I don't think she's that kind of person."
"Don't judge a book by its cover; you should have heard that saying before. It's not that I'm painting her as evil; it's just how society works. Men can have personal secretaries; why can't women have personal assistants? It's the same principle. I hope you can still live freely. Being kept in a cage may provide for your needs but offers little freedom. Even if you don't have it now, you should strive to attain it. Understand?" Yingzi gently patted the dazed Fei Hu.
After Yingzi's analysis, Fei Hu finally realized the situation. He almost became one of those caught up in it himself due to his impulsiveness. If he were to leave, he would still find it hard to part with A City. Just then, his phone suddenly rang. To his surprise, it was Ye Xiaofei calling from a number associated with Donggang—few people knew this number; perhaps Ye Xiaofei saved it after he sent her a message last time.
Yingzi shot him a glance and playfully scolded, "What are you grinning about? Hurry up and answer!"
Fei Hu got up, took his phone, and hurried into his bedroom, closing the door before answering the call. Immediately, Ye Xiaofei's melodious voice came through: "Hello? What are you doing? You've been silent for so long; if you don't answer soon, I'm hanging up!"
Fei Hu chuckled and replied, "I was just looking for a place where we could talk more conveniently."
Ye Xiaofei laughed and then asked, "Is Yingzi with you?"
"She is watching TV right now, so I came to my room," Fei Hu replied honestly.
Ye Xiaofei paused for a moment and then said, "You better listen carefully. Be good when you go to bed tonight, and don't run to the wrong room. If you end up in the wrong bed, then don't expect to see me again."
Fei Hu didn't expect Ye Xiaofei to make such a joke tonight. Upon reflection, it wasn't really a joke but rather a warning. Young men and women living together in a suite would naturally have thoughts about each other. Ye Xiaofei was being quite generous; if he had encountered a more possessive woman, it would have been a different story.
The phone call lasted over an hour. When Fei Hu felt his phone heating up and nearly out of battery, he said goodbye to Ye Xiaofei. The feeling of affection was indescribably beautiful; perhaps this was what falling in love felt like.
When Fei Hu returned to the living room, Yingzi was not very happy. She pouted and said, "Is there anyone like you? A phone call lasting over an hour without letting me listen? It was just Ye Xiaofei calling, what's so great about that? Tell me what she said!"
Fei Hu glanced at Yingzi's cute expression and chuckled, "She reminded me to be good when I go to bed tonight and not to run to the wrong door or end up in the wrong bed." Before he could finish his sentence, Yingzi lunged at him and pushed him down onto the sofa.
Fei Hu intentionally let go, causing Yingzi to lose her balance and fall on top of him. Her lips accidentally landed on his face, and seeing this, Yingzi hurriedly got up, her face turning red instantly.
However, the awkwardness passed quickly. A moment later, Yingzi composed herself and said, "I'm going back to City A tomorrow. You stay here for a couple more days; I'll cover all your expenses for the room. When I leave, I'll leave you some extra money. Just enjoy yourself."
Fei Hu became anxious upon hearing this. He thought that perhaps his earlier joke had gone too far and that Yingzi was upset. He asked urgently, "What do you mean? Why do you want to leave me here alone?"
"Look at your silly face; this is to keep things under wraps. If we go back together, it would raise suspicion. Ye Wu and Ye Wei are already angry; everything we do needs to be convincing enough for them to believe that you've really gone back home. Once that's settled, it'll be over. You can stay here for a few more days; it's very convenient to get from here to City A by any means of transport. But I must remind you of one thing: once I'm gone, you need to behave yourself and not fool around," Yingzi said seriously.
"Got it, you're so nagging! What do you mean by fooling around? Aren't you also a flower? How can I fool around?" Fei Hu started running away as he spoke but still got hit by Yingzi's flying slipper on his backside.
It's abnormal for a man living so close to a beautiful woman not to have any thoughts about her. However, Fei Hu only thought about it for a moment before falling asleep and dreaming sweet dreams.
The next morning, Fei Hu woke up early and specifically went to the restaurant to order several of Yingzi's favorite breakfasts. He led the waiter to bring the breakfast into the room and set it on the coffee table, sitting quietly waiting for Yingzi to wake up naturally.
When the sun was almost shining on his backside, Yingzi finally yawned and walked out of her room. As she walked over, she said to Fei Hu sitting on the sofa, "Why didn't you wake me up? This free breakfast is getting cold; the hotel's breakfast is actually pretty good."
Fei Hu smiled but remained silent.
Yingzi, who had just washed up, looked at the tea table and exclaimed happily, "Wow, why did you perform so well today? Are you trying to keep me from leaving? If that's the case, why didn't you say so earlier?" Yingzi joked as she began to eat.
The opportunity for the two of them to have breakfast together was indeed rare. Fei Hu knew that once Yingzi left, such chances would be gone. Thinking about this made Fei Hu feel a bit bittersweet.
After finishing breakfast, Yingzi gave Fei Hu a few instructions, then picked up her bag and patted Fei Hu on the shoulder, saying, "See you later, buddy. I'll be waiting for you in City A."
Fei Hu forced a smile and said, "Heh, what's wrong? Don't you want me to see you off?"
"Cut it out. Why are you acting all sentimental? There's nothing to see off. I’ll just take the elevator down to the rental car; in an hour or two, I'll be in City A. To be precise, we'll see each other again tomorrow. Bye!" After saying this, Yingzi turned around and walked away.
At that moment, Fei Hu realized that Yingzi was actually afraid of him seeing her off. Just as she turned away, he caught a glimpse of tears in her eyes. Over time, feelings had developed between them, especially after the trials they had faced together these past few days.
There’s no banquet that doesn’t end. Fei Hu stood on the balcony, watching as Yingzi got into the rental car. Just as she got in, he saw her wave goodbye to him. This was a feeling—standing on the balcony looking down, everything below was clear; however, looking up from below didn’t provide the same clarity.
Fei Hu wiped away the tears from his eyes and realized that he was quite sentimental after all.
Suddenly, the phone in the room rang. Fei Hu found it strange but ran over to answer it. A pleasant voice came through the receiver: "Hello, is this Mr. Fei Hu?"
Upon hearing this voice, Fei Hu recognized it was Tang Lan calling. Yesterday he had casually mentioned the hotel he was staying at; he hadn’t expected her to find out his room number. It seemed this woman was quite invested.
Fei Hu paused for a moment and said, "Good morning, Tang Zong. This is Fei Hu. I'm sorry; I thought about it all night and decided not to come because my girlfriend is not agreeable." He inadvertently told a lie; he couldn't even clarify where his girlfriend was at that moment.
