The appearance of Tang Lan indeed surprised Fei Hu, leaving him momentarily stunned at the door.
"What's wrong? Aren't you going to welcome me in for a seat?" Tang Lan asked with a smile, looking at the dazed Fei Hu.
Only then did Fei Hu snap out of his trance and hurriedly say, "Please, come in and have a seat." He opened the door wide for Tang Lan to enter before following her inside.
Fei Hu found the tea leaves left by Yingzi and quickly brewed a cup of tea for Tang Lan using a disposable cup. He brought it to her and said, "Tang Zong, please make do with this; I didn't bring any good tea."
"This is great. I like tea brewed this way; once I'm done, I can just toss the cup away—no hassle. You sit down too; there's no need to be so polite," Tang Lan said, her eyes scanning the room.
Today, Tang Lan's outfit was also quite simple. Her long black hair was casually tied back, looking effortless yet appealing. She wore a fitted pink short-sleeve t-shirt that accentuated her figure just right—neither exaggerated nor understated—and a pair of white shorts that reached her knees, showcasing her two long, fair legs. Coupled with a pair of white casual sneakers, Tang Lan exuded youthful vitality from head to toe.
"Oh, such a big room and you live here alone?" Tang Lan took a sip of the tea Fei Hu had made and asked with a smile.
Fei Hu paused briefly before responding with a smile, "I live with a friend; living alone would be a bit wasteful."
Tang Lan stood up and walked around the room, even peeking outside from the balcony. Shaking her head, she said, "You guys really know how to pick a place; it's quite nice here. You can see both mountains and water; everything is convenient. Life here has quality, so I say your identity is more than just that of a security guard. Am I right?"
"Hehe." Fei Hu chuckled lightly but didn't respond further because he wasn't sure how to answer Tang Lan's question.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Fei Hu quickly walked over and opened it to find Wang Yun arriving with several large bags. As she walked in, she smiled and said, "Oh my gosh, I'm exhausted! If I had known it would be like this, I should have brought you along." Wang Yun said as she placed the items on the coffee table.
When she looked up, she saw Tang Lan staring at her intently. Both women were momentarily taken aback; however, Wang Yun quickly recovered with raised eyebrows and smiled, "Oh, isn't this Tang Zong?"
"You know me," Tang Lan said with a slight smile.
Wang Yun glanced at Fei Hu and said with a laugh, "Tang Zong is a well-known beauty from Shanghang. Not only does she have great poise, but it is rumored that Tang Zong is still unmarried. With both wealth and beauty, not only do men flock to your side, but even us women admire you greatly. How could I not know you?"
"Well, well, such eloquence! Could you introduce me?" Tang Lan continued to smile lightly, her smile not revealing her teeth.
Fei Hu initially intended to introduce them, but Wang Yun spoke so eloquently upon entering that he was taken aback. Although her words were pleasant to hear, there was an underlying sourness to them; this was a common trait among women, and Fei Hu had seen enough of it by now.
He quickly smiled and said, "This is my friend Wang Yun. If you need to take the train in the future, you can look for her."
Tang Lan nodded gently and said, "Oh, I see. Spending time on the train will broaden your horizons. After all, there are all kinds of people everywhere. Keep up the good work; I think you have a bright future ahead."
"What future? Serving others is just a livelihood. To put it nicely, it's for the people; we work hard and take the heat, but the pay isn't much. Unlike you bosses who have everything," Wang Yun said as her eyes involuntarily drifted towards Fei Hu.
Fei Hu sensed something was off with her words and quickly interjected with a smile, "Tang Zong, Wang Yun just went to buy some snacks. Should we eat together?"
"You really are something. How could Tang Zong possibly eat with us?" Wang Yun interrupted before Tang Lan could respond.
Tang Lan remained calm and smiled as she said, "No need; I won't disturb your meal. How about this: tomorrow evening, I'll host a dinner party and welcome both of you to join. I'll send a car to pick you up."
Fei Hu was about to decline politely when Wang Yun quickly chimed in, "Sure! A meal is always a good thing, especially since it's hosted by Tang Zong. We definitely have to go. However, I’ll be getting on the train tomorrow afternoon, so please make sure our handsome friend here is well taken care of during dinner and doesn't go hungry." Wang Yun's quick tongue left Fei Hu anxious, but he couldn't find an opportunity to speak.
Tang Lan smiled and said, "Of course! See you both later," before turning and walking away. Fei Hu accompanied her to the elevator.
When they returned to their room, Wang Yun had already started laying out the food she had bought. Fei Hu said somewhat unhappily, "Wang Yun, why do you speak like that? It's as if you're sticking a thorn in my side while trying to speak for me."
"Ha ha, why are you still angry? Actually, I just can't stand these rich people, especially someone like her, playing around without getting married. There are men lining up around her, liking one after another. It's obvious she wants to pull you in, seeing how good you are, and then throwing money at you until you end up in her bed." Wang Yun became more animated as he spoke, as if Tang Lan was truly not a good person.
Fei Hu sat down on the sofa, feeling a bit unconvinced, and coldly said, "How do you know she's that kind of person?"
"Come on, don't be naive. Male Bosses, Female Bosses, and all those so-called powerful people—when they see someone they can use, aren't they all like that? If you don't believe me, tomorrow night will be the best test. Let's see how strong your resolve is," Wang Yun said as he shoved chopsticks into Fei Hu's hand.
Fei Hu was somewhat unconvinced by Wang Yun's words but couldn't find any strong evidence to counter him, so he had no choice but to drop the subject. He began to eat heartily from the dishes on the table. When it came to snacks, men really couldn't compete with women. As soon as Wang Yun showed up, he brought over more than ten varieties of snacks, each one delicious. Fei Hu was extremely pleased and had completely forgotten his earlier thoughts about Tang Lan.
Seeing Fei Hu enjoying the food so much, Wang Yun opened a bag and took out two bottles of liquor. Fei Hu looked surprised and asked, "You bought alcohol too?"
Wang Yun opened a bottle and poured it into disposable cups while laughing. "This is our local specialty Aged Wine. It goes down smoothly but has a strong afterkick. Don't underestimate it; when drinking, don't be greedy—sip slowly or you'll get drunk." Wang Yun smiled as he pushed a filled cup in front of Fei Hu.
Fei Hu glanced at the time and thought it was still early. As long as he didn't go to bed, there shouldn't be any problem. He didn't believe that the wine was as potent as Wang Yun claimed. He picked up the cup and took a small sip. The taste was indeed excellent—a light fragrance filled his mouth; it wasn't harsh nor overly soft. Fei Hu felt that this Aged Wine was brewed just right.
Those who love wine forget their names when they see it. Before drinking, Fei Hu reminded himself to drink less and absolutely not get drunk because Wang Yun was a woman. He feared that if he drank too much, something might happen. At first, Wang Yun maintained her composure, but after a few cups of wine, her generous side came out. She kept encouraging Fei Hu to drink, and soon both were caught up in the moment.
"Brother, let me tell you something from my heart today. The first time I saw you on the train, my heart moved. I was really angry—angry at Chen Hui for being better than me in everything. She got such a good boyfriend for her first relationship! You’re decent-looking; that’s not even the point—the key is your stability. You’re not greedy when you see women; unlike that guy I broke up with last time who completely ignored me when a pretty woman showed up," Wang Yun said while holding her cup, her tongue starting to trip over itself.
The strength of this Aged Wine was indeed gradually rising. By the time Fei Hu realized its potency, it was already a bit late. Looking at the two empty bottles, he walked over to the fridge and pulled out several bottles of mineral water. He laughed and said, "Water can replace wine; it can also help sober you up. Let’s drink this instead; let’s not bring up the past anymore. To be honest with you all, I came here to stay precisely to avoid Chen Hui because I can't hurt her—I really can't." As he spoke these words, Fei Hu's head began to spin; he could barely hold himself together.
Across from him, Wang Yun had somehow ended up sitting on the floor with her back leaning against the sofa. Her eyes were hazy; half of the mineral water she held spilled onto her chest. The thin shirt clung tightly to her skin after getting wet, accentuating her red bra and her ample figure perfectly. Fei Hu stared at her with wide eyes.
