"Stop for a moment, zoom in, let me see the license plate of that police car," Yingzi said as she took a pen and waited for Ye Xiaofei to enlarge the image, jotting down the entire license plate number.
Then she continued to look further. According to Yingzi's analysis, it was almost accurate. Around seven forty, Ye Cheng, Sister Wu, and several nannies were indeed taken to the police car together. In the footage, it was clear to see the nanny locking the door, indicating that Ye Cheng had argued with the police. Unfortunately, the camera did not have audio recording capabilities, so no one knew what they were saying.
Ye Xiaofei helplessly asked Fei Hu and Yingzi, "What should we do? Should we first inquire at the local police station to find out what happened at home that required so many police officers, and even took the nannies?"
Yingzi shook her head and comforted Ye Xiaofei, "Sister, don't worry. We'll have results soon." As she spoke, she took out her phone and immediately dialed a number. Seeing Yingzi so composed, Fei Hu realized she already had a plan.
"Hello, Xu Ling? Please help me check the ownership of this license plate and see which department it belongs to. The number is akx5648x2," Yingzi said before waiting quietly.
Suddenly, Yingzi was startled and asked, "What? The Lu Jing District Criminal Police Team? How could it be their vehicle?" As she spoke, she slowly hung up the phone with a puzzled expression.
Fei Hu thought for a moment and said, "Since we know it's someone from the Criminal Investigation Team who was taken away, we should go directly to the police station and ask about it. Just sitting here won't yield any results; it will only make us more anxious."
Yingzi shook her head and replied, "No way. If the three of us go there, it's like walking into a trap. They might be looking for us right now. Think about it; they even took the nannies away. They wouldn't let Sister Xiaofei and me go easily. This matter seems complicated; we need to act cautiously. Otherwise, we'll all end up locked up with no one left to escape."
Just as everyone was getting anxious about this situation, Yingzi's phone suddenly rang. She looked at it and smiled before saying, "Hello, Xu Ling? What's going on? Can you tell me? Oh, I see... Okay, we'll stay put and wait for news. Thank you; I understand your meaning. Goodbye." When Yingzi hung up the phone, she wore a smile on her face, indicating that there was a breakthrough in this matter.
Ye Xiaofei couldn't help but urgently ask, "What's going on? You need to tell us; I'm dying of anxiety here."
Yingzi smiled lightly and said, "Xu Ling just revealed some internal information. She said that early this morning someone reported that our villa was hiding firearms and ammunition. However, when the police arrived at our house, they found nothing. But since it's a serious matter, they took everyone away for questioning. It seems we won't get any results soon; they should be back shortly."
Hearing Yingzi's words, both Ye Xiaofei and Fei Hu let out a long sigh at almost the same time. Finally, there was a conclusion to this matter, which had been full of twists and turns. Looking at Ye Xiaofei's weary face, Fei Hu felt a pang of sympathy for her. Just then, the home phone suddenly rang. Ye Xiaofei rushed over without even glancing at it and picked it up, speaking excitedly into the receiver, "Hello, what’s the matter?"
As Ye Xiaofei held the phone, her expression grew increasingly grim. She angrily said, "My mobile is broken. I’ll be there shortly," and hung up with a loud click.
"What happened, Sister Xiaofei? Is there news from Grandpa?" Yingzi asked anxiously, while Fei Hu also stood up.
Ye Xiaofei grabbed her small bag from the table and cursed angrily, "That damn Ye Wei! As the chairman of Sheng Wei, he hasn’t shown his face at the company for days. Today, we have an important client visiting, and they are about to arrive. Our business manager is frantic! He called my mobile but couldn’t get through, so he called the house instead. I have to rush over; this matter cannot be delayed!"
Seeing this, Yingzi stood up and said to Fei Hu, "You should go rest in my room first. You can’t strain that injury at all. Once I drop Miss Fei back, I’ll tidy up your guest room; by then, Grandpa and the others should be back."
"No, no! Just take me back to my place; this little injury doesn’t need such fuss," Fei Hu replied as he got up and headed for the door. Ye Xiaofei raised her eyebrows at this but said nothing. She grabbed Fei Hu's uninjured arm and forcefully dragged him into her bedroom. She closed the door and locked it from the outside with a key.
Listening to the footsteps of Ye Xiaofei and Yingzi fade away, Fei Hu felt a surge of happiness inside.
The fragrant room had a soft and comfortable bed. Fei Hu hesitated to lie down but realized he was there to sleep; he couldn’t just sit there forever. Finally mustering his resolve, he lay down. However, when his gaze fell on Ye Xiaofei's pink underwear hanging on the rack, his youthful heart began to flutter again as he thought about delightful fantasies. Unbeknownst to him, he drifted off to sleep; perhaps it was because he was sleeping in his goddess's bed that he slept exceptionally well.
In his dream, Fei Hu saw large pancakes filled with his favorite meat filling and hand-pulled noodles that he hadn’t eaten in ages. No matter how hard he tried, these delicious foods floated just out of reach before him. A wave of unbearable hunger jolted him awake from his dream. Sitting on Ye Xiaofei's big bed with his hands on his stomach, he reminisced about the wonderful dream.
When Fei Hu's gaze fell on the clock hanging on Ye Xiaofei's wall, he jumped up from the bed. Was the clock broken or was he just sleeping too soundly? It was already past four in the afternoon! Shaking his head, he perked up his ears and thought he heard someone talking. Hurriedly getting out of bed, putting on his shoes, he crept to the door to listen closely; indeed, someone was talking—he recognized that it was Ye Cheng and Yingzi chatting. Fei Hu thought to himself that this annoying Yingzi didn’t even call him when she returned and locked him in the room; how unreasonable!
As these thoughts crossed his mind, he inadvertently turned the doorknob; with a click, the door opened! Feeling a bit embarrassed, Fei Hu quietly stepped out and closed the door behind him as he walked toward Ye Cheng’s study. Upon entering, Ye Cheng stood up from his chair upon seeing Fei Hu and laughed heartily, "Oh dear! Our great hero has been injured! How are you doing? Is it serious?"
"It’s nothing; just a minor injury. A little rest should have me back on my feet soon," Fei Hu replied as he sat down on the sofa next to Yingzi.
Ye Cheng shook his head and said, "No, we can't be careless about this. You must pay attention to rest and keep changing the dressing. I will have Sister Wu prepare some special meals for you. Nutrition is very important during this time, and we cannot be negligent at all. Don't overthink things; you don't need to attend class for now. Just spend your days chatting with me, taking walks, and then sleeping—lots of sleeping." Ye Cheng laughed heartily, showing no signs of displeasure on his face. Fei Hu admired him for being so magnanimous.
"Hey, why are you being so mean now? Grandpa is back, and you didn't even call me. Look at what time it is; it's really embarrassing," Fei Hu turned around and lightly scolded Yingzi.
Yingzi smiled lightly and replied, "You were sleeping like a pig. Grandpa, Sister Wu, and I went in several times to check on you but didn’t wake you because you were sleeping so soundly. Also, Sister Wu checked your wound, and you didn’t react at all. How do you expect us to wake you up?" Upon hearing this, Fei Hu awkwardly scratched his head.
At that moment, Sister Wu walked in holding a bowl of cold noodles, Fei Hu's favorite dish. As she approached him with a smile, she asked, "Are you starving, kid? I heard from Yingzi that you love noodles, so I had the nanny prepare some for you in advance. Since I heard you talking, I thought it was time for you to eat; you've been asleep for almost a whole day. It seems like you were quite exhausted last night."
Fei Hu gratefully accepted the cold noodles from Sister Wu's hands and said with a smile, "Thank you, Sister Wu! I actually dreamed about noodles last night; I didn't expect that dream to come true today. So I won’t hold back!" Saying this, Fei Hu picked up the bowl and devoured the noodles quickly. By the time the laughter subsided, his bowl was already empty as if by magic.
"Look at how much you're enjoying it! No wonder your health is so good. But remember, you can only have one bowl; save some room because Xiaofei will be back soon, and we’ll have more good food together," Ye Cheng said with great joy.
Fei Hu nodded eagerly and asked, "Grandpa, what exactly happened this morning? Did it cause any trouble for you?"
Ye Cheng stroked his beard and replied, "It seems someone is up to no good. I just discussed this matter with Yingzi; it looks like things are going to get unsettled here again. Someone has started taking action against us—an anonymous phone call is just the beginning. There may be more issues to follow, so we must be prepared. Therefore, you need to take care of your injuries; otherwise, we'll lose another soldier when the time comes."
Fei Hu silently nodded but suddenly remembered the fierce battle from last night and realized he hadn't asked Yingzi about what had happened. Just as he was about to speak up, Yingzi smiled and said, "Don't ask; let me tell you what happened. Last night around six o'clock, I was outside when I happened to see Ye Wu with a woman who looked to be in her forties or fifties and very elegant. Seeing how Ye Wu was flattering her made me think she might be someone important. Out of curiosity, I quietly followed them."
"A woman in her forties or fifties who is very elegant?" Fei Hu suddenly asked as if he recognized her. However, that thought quickly vanished from his mind because he felt that this woman couldn't possibly be one of Ye Wu's lovers. So who could she be?
