Ye Xiaofei was heading to the airport. Was she going abroad? Fei Hu was taken aback, still not understanding Yingzi's words, and could only ask anxiously, "I don't understand what you mean. Can you explain it in detail?"
"What a fool! What I mean is, if you want to see her, this afternoon is a great opportunity. If you miss it, it might be hard to have another chance. Besides, she wants me to accompany her. You can figure it out yourself! We should arrive at the airport around two o'clock," Yingzi said before hanging up the phone without waiting for Fei Hu to respond, clearly a bit angry.
Fei Hu stood in the yard for a while, deep in thought. After considering it from all angles, he finally decided he would go to the airport. Even if there was only a glimmer of hope, he wouldn't give up because Ye Xiaofei was his goddess, someone who could not be replaced.
Around 1:50 PM, Fei Hu arrived at the airport. He stood at the entrance, watching one woman after another pass by him, fearing that Ye Xiaofei might slip away unnoticed. Waiting felt agonizing; ten minutes felt like an eternity. Just as Fei Hu's heart was burning with anxiety, Ye Xiaofei finally appeared in his line of sight, accompanied by Yingzi.
Without thinking much, Fei Hu rushed forward and blocked Ye Xiaofei's path. Breathing heavily and feeling a bit timid, he called out, "Xiaofei." After a few days apart, Ye Xiaofei seemed to have lost some weight. Although she wore light makeup, it was evident that her eyes were slightly darkened—a clear sign of poor sleep.
"Wow! Hero! Are you going abroad or picking someone up?" Ye Xiaofei asked calmly. She didn't seem surprised by Fei Hu's sudden appearance; it was as if she had anticipated it all.
Fei Hu thought that when Ye Xiaofei saw him, she would either hit or scold him. He had prepared himself for that possibility but never expected her to remain so calm and even call him "hero." Wasn't that an insult? It subtly mocked him as just a brawny fool with a simple mind—much worse than being hit.
"Xiaofei, I want to talk to you..." Fei Hu began but was abruptly pushed aside by her as she strode forward.
Fei Hu hurriedly turned around and saw a tall guy with blonde hair and blue eyes—a typical American—walking out of the airport terminal. The foreigner approached Ye Xiaofei while calling out, "Hello my dear." Ye Xiaofei quickened her pace to greet him and they shared an enthusiastic hug.
Fei Hu's head buzzed with anger. Although he wasn't a conservative person, seeing his goddess tightly embraced by a foreigner filled him with rage. Yingzi noticed Fei Hu's displeasure and gently patted his back, signaling him to calm down.
A hug could be excused as part of foreign etiquette; he could accept that. But when Ye Xiaofei affectionately linked her arm with the foreigner’s and walked toward him and Yingzi, even the most generous man would struggle to endure it. Fei Hu clenched his fists tightly; he wished he could punch the American away. However, reason prevailed over impulse. Though his face flushed with anger, he ultimately refrained from exploding. Why would he hit someone for no reason? Suddenly, a voice in his mind reminded him that this wasn't the foreigner's fault at all. Gradually, his clenched fists relaxed.
Ye Xiaofei walked up to Fei Hu and Yingzi while holding onto the foreigner’s arm and smiled slightly as she said, "Let me introduce you; this is my boyfriend, an American named Jack."
After finishing her introduction, Ye Xiaofei turned back and chatted with Jack in English for a moment—something Fei Hu couldn't understand at all. His anger boiled over; the flicker of hope he had held onto was completely shattered by Ye Xiaofei's words: "This is my boyfriend." Fei Hu felt dizzy and overwhelmed.
The oblivious American extended his hand and awkwardly greeted Yingzi in broken Chinese, "Hello!"
He then turned to Fei Hu, reaching out with great enthusiasm, "Hello!" At that moment, Fei Hu's heart was shattered. All the anger he felt towards Ye Xiaofei was directed at this American. When their hands met, Fei Hu gritted his teeth, his grip tightening like an iron clamp. The American let out a sharp scream, his hand trembling. If Yingzi hadn't intervened in time, Fei Hu might have crushed the man's hand.
"You barbaric fool, you'd better not appear in my sight again; otherwise, you'll regret it," Ye Xiaofei whispered fiercely into Fei Hu's ear before turning around and dragging the American away.
This outcome was unexpected and clearly not what Yingzi had anticipated. She approached and softly said, "I'm sorry. Had I known it would be like this, I wouldn't have called you here. Hold on; it's not a big deal."
"Come on, Yingzi, let's go to the Hilton Hotel," Ye Xiaofei shouted from across the street, as if wanting everyone in the airport to hear her.
Yingzi waved her hand at Fei Hu helplessly and reluctantly turned to leave, leaving him standing there foolishly.
He stood there motionless for a long time, surrounded by countless passersby who had no idea why he was there or what he was waiting for. His phone rang repeatedly in his pocket. Fei Hu's heart was broken; all his dreams shattered in that moment. His heart felt empty, devoid of anything.
The sun slowly sank behind the tall buildings, and the lights around the airport flickered on without him noticing. Fei Hu remained still when an elderly cleaning lady approached him kindly and said, "Child, are you feeling unwell or is something bothering you? You've been standing here all afternoon; it's going to wear you out. Nothing is insurmountable; everything is empty. Only your body is yours to cherish."
Fei Hu's scattered gaze gradually focused. Yes, everything is empty; even the old lady understood that. Why couldn't he? He suddenly bowed deeply to the cleaning lady and turned to disappear into the crowd at the airport.
The night in City A was enchanting and alluring. Under the neon lights, many men returned home late, lost in a world of indulgence and revelry. Inside a private room at Beauty KTV, Fei Hu was surrounded by women on either side, downing bottle after bottle of beer. He seemed like a completely different person—his mouth filled with vulgarities and his demeanor wildly carefree—causing the two women accompanying him to burst into fits of laughter.
Time passed second by second as more beer bottles piled up on the table. Even the madam could no longer bear to watch. She quietly warned the two women with Fei Hu, "You need to be careful; this guy might cause trouble tonight. It seems like he's here to vent his frustrations. We should try to contact his family or friends; otherwise, we might end up wasting our efforts tonight. Understand?" The two women nodded eagerly.
As midnight approached and guests began to leave, a drunken Fei Hu finally slumped over on the sofa. No matter what tricks the two women tried, he remained completely unresponsive.
At that moment, the madam walked in and sternly said, "Stop messing around! He looks completely out of it—can't you see he's drunk? Quickly get his phone!" The two women giggled as they rummaged through Fei Hu's pockets and pulled out his phone, handing it over to the furious madam.
Mom opened her phone and couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow! Twenty-eight missed calls. It seems he really has something on his mind." She dialed the last missed call.
With the help of the security staff, Xia Yan managed to get Fei Hu into her car. She shook her head, thinking about how this guy was acting. He asked to borrow money, she had it ready, but he didn't come to get it and ended up getting drunk at a KTV, spending over a thousand yuan by himself. Was he crazy? This was not the Fei Hu she had just met.
The car drove smoothly through the night. Xia Yan was careful not to disturb the sleeping Fei Hu. Even so, he lay in the back seat and let out a soft groan, looking very uncomfortable. Then he shouted, "Drink today, be merry today; tomorrow there’s no wine, just cold water. I only care about being happy today; tomorrow is nonsense." After shouting that, Fei Hu fell back asleep.
Xia Yan parked the car in front of a budget hotel, checked into a room, and then called for security to help carry Fei Hu into the room. This was her only option since she lived on the third floor and couldn't manage to get him upstairs alone at this late hour.
By the time everything was settled, it was already past two in the morning. Xia Yan looked at the sleeping Fei Hu on the bed and felt wide awake. Memories of their past encounters flooded her mind. This man had saved her life and rescued her during a critical moment. If it weren't for him, Xia Yan might not be enjoying her current success.
"Ye Xiaofei, you're nothing but a joke. I have Xia Yan, I have A-Lian, I have many women. Why should I remain chaste for you?" Fei Hu suddenly muttered in his sleep, making Xia Yan laugh to herself.
She hadn't expected this guy to be such a romantic with so many women around him. Thankfully she was among them; otherwise, hearing that would have hurt her feelings. Xia Yan realized that Fei Hu was heartbroken; love could indeed bring deep pain. She remembered how she had been when she first entered the world of love; now she felt invulnerable.
Just as Xia Yan was reminiscing about her past, Fei Hu suddenly sat up with his hands covering his mouth, looking like he wanted to vomit but confused about where the bathroom was. Seeing this, Xia Yan quickly got up and supported him as they rushed to the bathroom.
Fei Hu saw the toilet and rushed over as if it were a long-lost friend. He hugged the toilet bowl and began to vomit violently. Xia Yan stood behind him, continuously flushing the toilet for him. She knew that for someone who drank too much, vomiting everything out would make them feel better.
After more than ten minutes, Fei Hu finally stood up and walked over to the sink to splash cold water on his face, appearing much more awake. When he turned around, he found Xia Yan gazing at him with affection.
For a moment lost in thought, Fei Hu suddenly lunged forward and pushed Xia Yan against the sink.
