In this world, some people are truly hard to understand. Just as Fei Hu left Sheng Wei, Miss Li from the Human Resources Department stepped into Ye Wei's office. She whispered something to Ye Wei, and his expression changed immediately. However, he quickly smirked at Miss Li and said, "It's fine, just pretend you don't know about this. Give Ye Xiaofei some face."
As soon as Miss Li left, Ye Wei picked up the phone on his desk. He sneered and said, "Come over here, I have something to tell you."
After a while, Wang Qian pushed the door open and walked in. She sat down in front of Ye Wei and asked with a smile, "What good news do you have? Why so mysterious? Is it about the donation that Ye Xiaofei is not on board with?"
Ye Wei shook his head and replied, "No, Ye Xiaofei is like a sick cat right now, not caring about anything. It seems your scheme has hurt her quite a bit; this time she really has been brought down."
"Hmph! What do you mean my scheme? It's our plan together! So what did you want to tell me? Hurry up! Stop being so mysterious," Wang Qian said while playfully rolling her eyes at Ye Wei, looking quite charming.
Ye Wei leaned forward slightly and whispered, "Just before we came back, Fei Hu pretended to be a client and sneaked in. He bumped into Miss Li in the elevator."
"What? He actually came? This kid is a bit bold. Could it be that he figured out we set him up and is here for revenge?" Wang Qian's expression changed slightly at this point; it seemed she still had some apprehension about Fei Hu.
Ye Wei thought for a moment and said, "He isn't foolish enough to that extent. If he wanted revenge on us, he would wait for an opportunity outside instead of causing trouble inside the company. Even if he succeeded, he wouldn't be able to escape! It's possible he's here looking for Ye Xiaofei; this kid might not seem like it, but he's quite the romantic."
"Yeah! That's right. It seems Ye Xiaofei really is ignoring him now, which is why Fei Hu took the risk of coming into the company. Didn't you leave someone at the entrance? Could it be...?" Wang Qian looked at Ye Wei with suspicion.
Ye Wei nodded firmly and said, "As soon as he came in, Miss Li called Diao San. By now, that kid is probably lying on the ground. This could be the end of his time in A City; if he's smart, he'll head back home early to save himself. Otherwise, if he runs into this group of people and doesn't get beaten up badly, that would be strange." Ye Wei appeared very confident; it seemed he had great faith in Diao San's skills.
Wang Qian glanced at Ye Wei and nonchalantly said, "I wouldn't be so sure. I've seen Fei Hu's skills; ordinary people are no match for him. We might end up losing out if Diao San betrays us. If word gets out, it could affect our reputation."
"That shouldn't happen!" Ye Wei said as he still felt uneasy and made a call.
Wang Qian couldn't help but let out a sigh. No matter how ruthless she was, she was still a woman. If Fei Hu hadn't chosen the wrong side and stood with her instead, she might have really liked him. She couldn't help but recall their passionate days in Hong Kong.
"Idiot, how much of my money have you spent usually? You can't even handle this trivial matter, and you let him get away. Don't come to me again," Ye Wei said, his face flushed as he slammed the phone down on the table.
Startled, Wang Qian finally came to her senses and softly asked, "What happened? Weren't you just happy a moment ago? What on earth happened to make you so angry?" As she spoke, she had already guessed part of the situation in her mind.
Ye Wei leaned back in the large swivel chair and said dejectedly, "That Diao San is really useless. More than ten people surrounded Fei Hu alone, and several of them got injured. In the end, he just walked away. Can you believe it? If we provoke that guy, he might really come looking for trouble."
"Alright, let's not worry about this anymore. There will be a way when we reach the mountain. We have other major incidents to deal with. It's not good to be bogged down by these trivial matters. Don't deliberately look for someone to fight Fei Hu anymore. Have you thought about what would happen if someone died during the fight? If the police get involved, it could lead to serious trouble, and you might end up in jail," Wang Qian said, giving Ye Wei a glare before getting up and walking towards the door.
Ye Wei angrily pounded his fist on the table and muttered to himself, "It's easy for you to say that now that there's a problem. Where were you when things were going smoothly? You're such a coward."
Meanwhile, while Fei Hu and Yingzi were chatting in the car, Fei Hu's phone rang. He took it out and saw it was Ni Ling calling. He smiled and answered, "Hello! Officer Ni, are you looking for me to treat me to dinner again? But I just finished eating; however, I haven't had afternoon tea yet. You can definitely treat me to tea."
Ni Ling laughed on the other end of the line and said, "No problem! Where are you? I'll drive over. But remember our usual rule: I only treat you; I can't have too many people."
"Hey! That's not fair; my girlfriend is right here with me. What kind of talk is that?" As soon as Fei Hu finished speaking, Yingzi playfully twisted his neck, causing him to yelp in pain.
Ni Ling gently asked over the phone, "Fei Hu, are you with Yingzi? If so, that's fine; we can all sit together. I haven't seen her in days."
Fei Hu readily told her where he and Yingzi were located. Twenty minutes later, the three of them arrived at Xuanyuan Pavilion. This was a well-decorated tea house with an ancient style featuring famous calligraphy and paintings along with antique wooden furniture that exuded a strong literary atmosphere.
In a small private room, after preparing the tea, Ni Ling locked the door from the inside and then sat down with a smile. She glanced at Yingzi and asked Fei Hu with a grin, "When are you two handing out wedding candies? I can't wait any longer."
Fei Hu looked at Ni Ling in casual clothes and laughed, "What wedding candies? That's ridiculous."
While pouring tea for them, Ni Ling chuckled and said, "You really have no sense of masculinity. You clearly admitted on the phone that you're with your girlfriend; why are you trying to backtrack now?"
"Hehe! What am I backing out of? I did say I'm with my girlfriend; isn't Yingzi my friend? Isn't she female? So that's what I meant!" Before Fei Hu could finish his sentence, Ni Ling playfully punched him. He quickly caught her fist in his hand; she hurriedly shook it off until he released her grip. Unexpectedly, Ni Ling nodded slightly, her face instantly turning red.
Fei Hu couldn't stop laughing, saying to Yingzi, "Look at your friend, still shy at her age. I can't believe it." As he spoke, he took a closer look at Ni Ling. Today, she was dressed both simply and beautifully. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, and she wore a white short sports shirt paired with white sweatpants. This outfit made Ni Ling's not-so-fair complexion appear particularly healthy.
Yingzi kicked Fei Hu's leg playfully and scolded him, "Watch your words! My friend here may be the captain of the serious crimes unit, but she has never officially dated anyone. Unlike you, flitting around like a fly among flowers and grass, jumping on anything without learning your lesson."
Although Yingzi was joking, Fei Hu found some truth in her words. He shot a defiant glance at Yingzi and then turned to Ni Ling with a smile, saying, "Stop flirting in front of me; let's drink some tea! This is good tea—Biluochun. It would be such a waste if it gets cold."
The three of them finally picked up their teacups. Tea is truly a wonderful thing; its gentle warmth gradually calmed their spirits. It seemed that Ni Ling and Yingzi had known each other for quite some time. The two women lowered their heads and chatted about various topics for quite a while, leaving Fei Hu unable to interject. He grew anxious and kept refilling their cups.
Who says three women can't put on a show? These two women could certainly hold their own. By the time they finished chatting, Fei Hu was nearly dozing off. Ni Ling tapped the table and said, "Hey! Do you really dislike listening to us so much that you're falling asleep? Come look at this—do you recognize any of these three beauties? I guarantee you'll be wide awake after seeing them."
As Ni Ling spoke, she pulled out three photographs from her bag and pushed them toward Fei Hu. Upon seeing them, Fei Hu exclaimed, "Wow! These three women have such charm; they really are a mix of plump and slender. Just one glance makes you like them." However, he felt that they seemed to be somewhat older. Although it was clear from the photos that they were candid shots from someone's life, the crow's feet at the corners of their eyes revealed their true ages.
Especially the woman in the middle—though she was very attractive, upon closer inspection, she looked to be at least in her forties or fifties. Fei Hu couldn't help but frown and say, "These are all aunt-level figures; how could I possibly know them?"
Ni Ling chuckled and replied, "Maybe you've seen them before; you just didn't pay attention. The mysterious woman who appeared in the rental car one day might be one of these three. I wonder if you remember her after seeing these photos."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu quickly picked up the photographs again and examined them closely from start to finish. He even closed his eyes to think carefully. He felt that all three women looked somewhat similar yet also different. Fei Hu couldn't help but ask Ni Ling, "Do you have any specific introductions for them? I'd like to hear more; looking at photos feels abstract—I really can't recall."
Ni Ling laughed and said, "You're almost becoming a detective with that kind of thinking! Where did you learn to think like this?"
Hearing this, Fei Hu glanced at Yingzi, but she had turned her face toward the window outside.
