Pushing open the hotel room door, Fei Hu was a bit stunned. In the spacious private room, there were three tables set for a feast, and every table was already filled with people. At the head table sat Ye Cheng and Sister Wu, along with several old friends of Ye Cheng that Fei Hu had met before.
As Fei Hu stood there unsure of what to do, Ye Cheng waved at him and called out loudly, "Come, come, come sit over here!" Yingzi heard this and pulled Fei Hu to an empty seat next to Sister Wu. Afterward, Yingzi asked the waiter to add another chair, and she sat down right beside Fei Hu.
What is going on? Fei Hu was completely confused. He turned to look at the other two tables and saw many familiar faces, such as Brother Dong and a few individuals of some standing in the Dragon Tiger Gang. Was this some kind of gathering among their group? However, Fei Hu did not see Ye Wei or Ye Xiaofei.
Just as Fei Hu was feeling puzzled, Ye Cheng stood up. He waved his hand to quiet everyone down and then smiled as he said, "Thank you all for your support in gathering here today. First, I want to thank the brothers from the Dragon Tiger Gang for accompanying me through thick and thin. Because of all of you by my side, I feel my life has no regrets. Today happens to be Sister Wu's fifty-sixth birthday. Let’s not be formal; let’s raise our glasses and enjoy ourselves. Eating well and drinking well is our ultimate goal today."
Oh! So that's what this is about! That silly Yingzi didn’t say anything beforehand, leaving me in a passive position. It’s Sister Wu’s birthday; I should have brought something! Fei Hu couldn’t help but glare at Yingzi.
At that moment, the door was suddenly pushed open, and Ye Wei and Ye Wu walked in, each carrying a large flower basket. They placed the baskets on the floor, and Ye Wei laughed heartily, "Sorry for being late everyone; we had something come up. We’ll personally apologize to Sister Wu later." With that, he casually found a seat and sat down.
Ye Cheng frowned and asked Yingzi, "Who informed these two flies?" Yingzi shook her head, looking bewildered.
"Alright, don’t ask anymore. Guests are guests; let’s not ruin everyone’s mood," Sister Wu whispered to Ye Cheng. Ye Cheng nodded helplessly; with so many people here in such an occasion, he really couldn’t say much.
Sister Wu nodded at Ye Cheng and then stood up with her wine glass in hand. With a beaming smile, she said, "Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to celebrate my birthday. I’m very happy. I won’t say too many polite words; let’s all drink a toast together before we start eating. We can’t let everyone go hungry, right?" Upon hearing this, everyone stood up together and raised their glasses; the atmosphere became lively.
Fei Hu felt a bit embarrassed as he raised his glass towards Sister Wu and said, "Happy birthday Sister Wu! I didn’t prepare any gifts for you; it’s really a bit rude of me. I’ll drink this first." Saying that, he tilted his head back and finished the drink in his glass.
"You child! Just being here is great; saying that is a bit too formal. Quickly drink a couple of glasses with the others at this table; they are all elders here—especially your grandfather—who has been mentioning you quite often these days," Sister Wu said as she raised her glass and took a small sip.
Hearing Sister Wu say this made Fei Hu feel very touched. He quickly stood up with his glass and toasted each person at the table. When he reached Ye Cheng's turn, the old man was overjoyed. He smiled and said, "I’m very happy you could come! Let bygones be bygones! No matter what happens from now on, you mustn’t forget this old man!"
Suppressing his excitement, Fei Hu hurriedly said, "No way, Grandpa! How could I forget you?"
"Hey! Little security guard, your words are quite sweet. Even though I call you that, let me tell you, our business is not finished yet. Our Xiaofei won't let you off easily either. You better tone it down. Today is Sister Wu's birthday, so I'll pretend I didn't see you. Once you step out of this hotel, we'll settle this matter," Ye Wei appeared like a ghost, holding a glass of wine and standing behind Fei Hu without anyone noticing.
Ye Cheng slammed his glass down on the table and said sternly, "Ye Wei, listen up! Today is Sister Tian's special day. If you want to make me uncomfortable, don't blame me for being rude. Anyone here can make you leave on your hands and knees." Ye Cheng's words showed no mercy to Ye Wei, making the situation quite embarrassing in front of so many people.
"Haha! How could that be? I was just joking around," Ye Wei said with a sly smile. He raised his glass and began to toast Sister Wu. People like him thrived on their audacity, which was indeed frightening.
Seizing the opportunity, Fei Hu pulled Yingzi aside and whispered, "You should have told me about this in advance. Did you see? Ye Wei and Ye Wu are here to cause trouble. If things go wrong, I might just be the trigger for their chaos."
"What are you afraid of? You have the old man backing you up," Yingzi scoffed.
Fei Hu glared at her and said sternly, "Even if I'm not afraid of them, what if Ye Xiaofei comes looking for trouble? What should we do then?" Fei Hu's concern lay precisely here.
"She hasn't come, has she? Grandpa is worried that you two might not get along when you meet, so he didn't let her know about Sister Wu's birthday today. I estimate she's still at the company right now. Don't worry; no one would believe that a woman could scare you this much," Yingzi said while pretending to be angry and rolling her eyes at Fei Hu.
Fei Hu shook his head helplessly and anxiously said, "Did you not hear? Ye Wei mentioned Ye Xiaofei multiple times. They might have done something; I'm just afraid..."
"Alright, you're being overly verbose. If she's coming, she's coming! You can't avoid it anyway. I don't believe she can eat you alive. Come on, raise your glass; I'll take you to toast at the other two tables," Yingzi interrupted Fei Hu's words as if she didn't care about the situation at all.
Since things had already come to this point, there was no use in thinking too much about it; he couldn't back out now. Under Yingzi's insistence, they both raised their glasses and began to toast one by one. This whole arrangement was actually set up by Ye Cheng for Yingzi beforehand; they were just there to enjoy themselves and see how impressive the toast-givers were.
With three tables and over thirty people, by the time they finished going around, Fei Hu felt dizzy and lightheaded. He was extremely dissatisfied with his current alcohol tolerance; he could barely handle a bottle of white wine before getting drunk. It seemed that the saying about drinking getting better with practice was false. After a few bouts of drunkenness and vomiting, his tolerance had reached its limit.
When Fei Hu saw Yingzi's cheeks flushed red as well, he realized that everyone had indeed drunk quite a bit; he needed to steady himself or he would fall over again. Just then, it seemed like Ye Wei and Ye Wu had conspired together as they approached with their glasses raised. They sat down on either side of Fei Hu's empty seats, with Ye Wu smiling insincerely as she said, "Little brother has quite a drinking capacity; no wonder the old man thinks highly of you. Let's drink a couple of rounds together; don't forget to give us some face."
These two individuals, as soon as Fei Hu saw them, he felt like throwing up, let alone drinking together. Just as he was about to stand up and leave, a pair of hands pressed him down. Turning around, he saw it was Yingzi, who smiled and said, "The two big bosses of the Dragon Tiger Gang, it's usually hard to find you for a drink. Today is a good opportunity; I’ll join in too. Let's all drink together." Saying this, Yingzi pulled over a chair from the side and generously sat down next to Fei Hu.
"Ha ha! Miss Yingzi, truly a woman who doesn't fall behind men. Not only do you have great skills, but you also drink so heartily! Great! Then let's all raise our glasses and drink two rounds," Ye Wu said as he lifted his glass and downed it in one go.
Although Fei Hu felt he had already drunk enough, in front of Ye Wu and Ye Wei, even if he had to drink himself to death, he would do it. Yingzi was no exception; the four of them raised their glasses and drank twice.
"I'll toast both of you with a glass. Normally, matters concerning the Ye Family should be handled by us brothers. I didn't expect you two to take on this burden for the old man. Not bad, really not bad. Here’s to both of you," Ye Wei said as he unhesitatingly drank from his glass.
The four of them quickly became intertwined, toasting each other back and forth. It was clear that a bottle of freshly opened liquor was about to run out, but no one was willing to concede. They all understood that this was also a competition to see who could keep drinking without collapsing first.
The atmosphere reached a boiling point as groups gathered together, everyone toasting and drinking amidst cheers and laughter, temporarily forgetting that love and hate still existed in this world.
At that moment, the door to the private room was pushed open again, revealing Ye Xiaofei entering with a bouquet of flowers and a smile on her face. Immediately someone began speaking: "Oh! Isn't this the young lady? Why are you so late? This isn't right; you should be punished with a drink." The person speaking seemed to have also drunk quite a bit, mentioning alcohol every few sentences.
Ye Xiaofei smiled lightly and said, "I’m really sorry everyone; there were some matters at the company. I just finished up and rushed over; I know I'm a bit late, please forgive me." Saying this, she walked over and handed the flowers in her hand to Sister Wu.
Ye Xiaofei's sudden arrival excited some people immensely, especially Ye Wei and Ye Wu. However, from Yingzi's and Sister Wu's faces, more shock could be seen.
Ye Cheng hurriedly said: "Xiaofei! It's great that you're here; quickly toast Sister Wu with a drink; she's been talking about you."
"No rush! I'll toast everyone," Ye Xiaofei replied, causing Fei Hu to involuntarily shrink back at her words.
