The Swiss Army knife in Fei Hu's hand sliced through the air, aimed directly at Cheng Yong's hand. Everyone present was momentarily stunned; if that knife struck true, Cheng Yong would undoubtedly lose his paw. Cheng Yong shouted, "I'll give you all the money!"
Fei Hu's hand instantly froze, the blade almost touching Cheng Yong's hand. Sweat poured down from Cheng Yong's greasy face like falling beans. He trembled and timidly said to Ouyang Hua, "Ouyang! Hurry and gather the money. If it's not enough, sell that cruise ship. You can't let me end up disabled, can you?"
"Okay! I'll take care of it right away," Ouyang Hua replied in a pale voice. It was clear that Fei Hu's earlier move had frightened her a bit.
Tang Lan stood up and addressed everyone, "Leave Cheng Yong here; the rest of you can go. However, I can tell you that I'm confident in this deal, so don't waste your efforts. I doubt any of you would dare to call the police, but if anyone tries to play tricks, Cheng Yong might lose more than just a hand—perhaps even a foot."
As soon as Tang Lan finished speaking, Cheng Yong cried out with a sobbing tone, "Everyone, don't do anything rash! Ouyang, hurry and get the money! We're not short on cash!" This bastard finally spoke his true feelings now that things had escalated.
"Miss Ouyang, leave a phone number and then leave. We will exchange money for him, but the money must be delivered by tomorrow. If it's late, you can keep it for yourself!" Tang Lan said sternly.
Ouyang Hua glanced at Cheng Yong and reluctantly replied, "Alright! I'll do my best."
"What do you mean by 'do your best'? If you can't gather it all, sell the cruise ship! If no one wants it at a high price, sell it at a low price. It's worth millions; even asking for a few hundred thousand will attract buyers. You need to hurry!" Cheng Yong said anxiously; it seemed he was genuinely scared.
Fei Hu pressed the tip of the knife against Cheng Yong's back, forcing him to lead the way. Tang Lan walked in the middle while Xiao Lan brought up the rear as they hurriedly exited the basement. Once outside and after finding a car, Fei Hu forced Cheng Yong into the back seat while Xiao Lan drove and Tang Lan sat in the passenger seat. She leaned close to Xiao Lan and whispered for a while before gesturing with her finger. Fei Hu understood that Tang Lan was directing Xiao Lan on the driving route but did not catch any of their conversation.
As soon as the car started moving, it shot off like an arrow, with the engine roaring under strain.
Strangely enough, they did not return via the original route but instead headed deeper into the mountains. At night, there were very few vehicles on the road, which only made Xiao Lan drive more recklessly. The car swayed left and right as if they were in a race car; Cheng Yong beside Fei Hu was extremely tense, gripping his seat tightly with terror and confusion evident in his eyes.
The vehicle entered mountainous terrain where Fei Hu could finally see under the headlights the tropical rainforest plants he had only seen on television before—now so close he could reach out and touch them. The road became increasingly difficult to navigate as the car began to bounce along the uneven mountain path, forcing Xiao Lan to reduce speed.
From the twinkling lights in the distance, it was clear that this was a village. Sure enough, as the vehicle approached, Fei Hu saw a wooden loft and some residents coming out to see what was happening.
Tang Lan instructed Xiao Lan to park the car in front of a wooden building. As soon as she stepped out of the vehicle, a middle-aged woman in her forties came out from inside. Upon seeing Tang Lan, she was very pleased, and after exchanging a few words in Vietnamese, Tang Lan told Fei Hu and Xiao Lan in the car, "Get him into the room upstairs and keep a close watch on him. Don't let him cause any more trouble."
Xiao Lan gestured to Fei Hu, and the two got out of the car. Cheng Yong anxiously asked, "Where are you taking me? Didn't we agree that you would bring the money tomorrow? Don't do anything reckless; otherwise, no one will get away."
"Why are you so afraid of dying? If you had given them the money earlier, we wouldn't be in this situation. Get down and come upstairs with me; if you keep talking back, I'll deal with you," Fei Hu shouted sternly at Cheng Yong in the car.
Seeing that Fei Hu was genuinely angry, Cheng Yong timidly got out of the car and was pushed upstairs by Fei Hu from behind.
The room on the second floor was very simply furnished: a wooden bed, a wooden table, and a few chairs. Aside from these items, there was nothing else to be found. Fortunately, it was warm inside, and sitting there while enjoying the mountain breeze blowing in through the window felt particularly refreshing.
"How do you know the local ethnic residents? They are quite fierce," Cheng Yong tentatively asked Fei Hu while sitting on the bed. However, Fei Hu had no fondness for such people at all; he merely shot Cheng Yong a glare, prompting him to quickly shut his mouth. In fact, Fei Hu knew nothing; it was Tang Lan who knew the people here.
"Fei Hu, lock the door. You need to go downstairs; Boss is looking for you," Xiao Lan suddenly appeared at the door. As she spoke, she tossed an iron lock over to Fei Hu, who caught it easily. Although it was a wooden door, locking it still felt quite secure.
In another room on the first floor, the furnishings were completely different and fully equipped. Tang Lan was sitting at a wooden table talking with the middle-aged woman she had spoken to earlier. When she saw Fei Hu enter, she smiled and said to him, "This is my good friend whom I met two years ago when I came here; her name is Rousi. She and Lisa are sisters."
Upon hearing this, Fei Hu quickly smiled and said, "Hello!"
Rousi smiled back and said in very awkward Chinese, "Hello! Please sit." After saying that, she got up and walked away. It was then that Fei Hu noticed that this woman did indeed resemble Lisa somewhat.
Fei Hu sat down across from Tang Lan. She let out a sigh and said, "I really didn't expect things to develop like this. Luckily you have strong adaptability; otherwise, tonight's act would have truly flopped. The frustrating part is that this Cheng Yong has colluded with the local gangsters; it seems that if this matter isn't handled well, we might suffer greatly," Tang Lan said with an anxious expression.
"It's fine, we have hostages in our hands. They won't be able to stir up much trouble. Besides, with what Cheng Yong has done, they probably won't go to the police. As long as the police don't get involved, we won't lose to them," Fei Hu said firmly.
At that moment, Xiao Lan walked in and silently sat down next to Tang Lan. She appeared indifferent, as if everything that had just happened had nothing to do with her. Fei Hu admired this woman's courage and spirit; such traits were rare among ordinary women. If she wasn't mistaken, Xiao Lan must have undergone special training.
"Xiao Lan, you saw what happened today, so there's no need to be polite anymore. Let's discuss our next strategy with Fei Hu. If we don't have a chance of winning, we'll leave tonight. I won't take this money; after all, we can't let you get hurt," Tang Lan said, looking at Xiao Lan and Fei Hu with a helpless expression.
Xiao Lan smiled lightly and said, "I want to leave too, but Fei Hu wouldn't want to lose face like that. Moreover, the big fish hasn't shown up yet; tonight's just small fry. My opinion is that unless it's absolutely necessary, we shouldn't give up. I believe these bastards can still cause some waves," she said, glancing at Fei Hu with her gentle eyes.
This woman even knew how to use provocation. Fei Hu only knew that she was skilled but didn't expect her to be so cunning. After pondering for a while while tapping her fingers on the table, Fei Hu finally said, "Xiao Lan is right; let's give it a shot. If it really seems hopeless later on to get this money back, then we'll have no choice but to leave. We can't actually chop this guy up," she said in a lowered voice, fearing that Cheng Yong upstairs might hear.
Seeing that Fei Hu and Xiao Lan were in agreement, Tang Lan felt very pleased and smiled as she said, "Alright then. With both of you working together, I feel a bit more reassured. However, Vietnam is a place with a mixed population and poor security; we need to be very careful."
Fei Hu and Xiao Lan nodded in unison as they began to think about tomorrow's strategies and plans. The three of them discussed until late into the night. Once their plan was finalized, Fei Hu brought Cheng Yong down from upstairs. The three of them took a flashlight and led Cheng Yong towards an uninhabited area in the back mountains because they didn't want to involve the local residents.
The night path in the mountains was difficult to navigate. Although Tang Lan had walked here during her travels years ago, that was during the day with a local guide by her side. Now it was different; it was dark and overgrown with trees and weeds. One misstep could lead to an injury. Fortunately, Fei Hu had trained since childhood and took the lead to clear the way for everyone.
Seeing this situation made Cheng Yong truly anxious; he thought Tang Lan was going to take him deep into the mountains for execution. Trembling, he said, "Tang Zong, you can't do this. Although what I did was wrong, we know each other after all. Besides, we're all Chinese; isn't this a bit too harsh? Can't you give me a chance to make amends?"
"Shut up and walk properly! Killing you would dirty our hands. I'm trying to take you somewhere safe because your Ouyang Hua won't honestly pay you that money back. It seems she actually hopes we kill you instead. But don't worry; we won't fall for her tricks. What I want is money; if we can't get it, we'll torment you until you wish you were dead. Do you understand?" Tang Lan panted as she scolded Cheng Yong.
Cheng Yong remained silent for a while before coldly saying, "If Ouyang Hua dares to do that, I'll kill her. Don't worry; I won't shortchange you on your five million." As soon as Cheng Yong finished speaking, a scream came from Tang Lan.
