Seeing Fei Hu's reserved demeanor, Li Xiaoran laughed so hard she almost doubled over. She couldn't believe that this tall man would be afraid of her, a weak woman. However, she was completely mistaken; Fei Hu's wild nature was simply not being expressed. Otherwise, it would have opened her eyes.
The fine Longjing tea wafted a light fragrance as Fei Hu sipped it slowly. He dared not look up, fearing to meet Li Xiaoran's gaze. This woman was like a fire, easily capable of burning him.
"Hey, I invited you here to drink tea, not to make you uncomfortable. Look at you; if outsiders saw you, they would think I was bullying you," Li Xiaoran said somewhat displeased.
Fei Hu smiled slightly and replied, "That's not true. It's just that I feel down because Wang Yun just left, and you are her friend. I can't be happy about it; there's nothing more to it."
"The matter with Wang Yun is a fact now. We should let it go instead of dwelling on it. I want to ask you why you are so deeply attached to Wang Yun, yet she only told me that you two were not discussing marriage. Why is that? You two are quite a match; I really don't understand."
Li Xiaoran was clearly trying to pry into Fei Hu's private life, but he didn't mind. He wanted to clarify things for everyone's sake, so he nodded and said, "Yes, Wang Yun was absolutely right; we are just friends because I am a wanderer. After today, I don't know where I'll be tomorrow—not even I know—so I can't easily promise anyone a future. This is something we both understood while spending time together."
"Enough of your sweet talk; you're just a Heartbreaker. Is it that there are too many women around you that you can't face the relationship between men and women? That's not right. No matter how well you're doing or how many women you have around you, in the end, you still need to marry and settle down; otherwise, you'll die alone in your old age," Li Xiaoran said as she covered her mouth and laughed.
Such profound matters had never crossed Fei Hu's mind. He shook his head in annoyance and suddenly looked up, his big eyes fixed on Li Xiaoran. After staring for a while, he said, "I don't want to talk about this. Can we discuss something lighter? Like yourself?"
"Hahaha, you're quite clever! But I'm a simple person with nothing much to say. On the surface, people see me as somewhat successful, but inside I'm struggling. Sometimes I wonder why I'm getting married—whether it's for money or happiness. But what does happiness even mean? I really can't tell or sort it out. However, the busyness of each day makes me feel fulfilled; time flies by and before I know it, I'm getting old," Li Xiaoran said with a hint of sadness in her tone.
Fei Hu couldn't understand women at all; marrying a wealthy man who loves her means never having to worry about food or clothing—that's happiness! Yet from Li Xiaoran's expressions and actions, he couldn't see where her happiness lay.
As they slowly savored their tea, Li Xiaoran suddenly sighed deeply and said, "Getting old isn't what I imagined. In the past, Wang Yun even advised me not to marry so early. But for money's sake, I married early without realizing I'd jumped into the grave of marriage. This might be one of my life's biggest mistakes."
If that's the case, those who are married say one thing, but those who are not married desperately seek to get married. This is a contradiction. Since marriage is a grave, why do people still pursue it? Fei Hu couldn't help but shake his head.
"I'm telling you this; does it make me seem uninteresting? To be honest, my best friend in life is Wang Yun. Whenever something happens, I talk to her, either we sit together or I call her. In short, it makes me feel better. But now, she has quietly left, and it pains me deeply. I can only treat you as my confidant; I wonder if you will find that bothersome," Li Xiaoran said, her large eyes fixed on Fei Hu's face.
Fei Hu smiled lightly and said, "What's there to be bothered about? The fact that you think this way shows that you value me. However, I'm just a man; perhaps our casual chats have their inconveniences."
"Hmph, fake man! Are you saying that there are differences between men and women? Besides, I'm a married woman. You're completely mistaken if you think that way. Nowadays, it's normal for women to have several male friends. Just like you men having female friends is also normal. Moreover, my husband and I agreed to divorce a year ago," Li Xiaoran said dismissively.
Fei Hu was taken aback and looked at Li Xiaoran in disbelief.
Ye Wu was leisurely admiring the blooming flowers in his garden, feeling on top of the world. During this time, he could say he had everything going his way; almost all of A City was under his control. What made him happiest was how smoothly he had taken over Ye Cheng's territory without much effort, which surprised him greatly.
Just as Ye Wu was feeling elated, his phone suddenly rang in his pocket. He frowned slightly in annoyance but took out the phone. Seeing it was his aunt calling, he quickly pressed the answer button. Immediately, a slightly seductive voice came from the phone: "Hello, Boss Ye, what are you doing? You’re not in some woman's bed again, are you?"
"Hahaha, how could that be? Is there something urgent you need to discuss?" Ye Wu laughed heartily. This older woman seemed to be getting on in years but was still full of allure towards men. However, Ye Wu knew her well and kept his distance.
His aunt stopped laughing and said seriously, "Boss Ye, our goods will arrive soon, but you still haven't taken the position of the Dragon Tiger Gang leader. How can I trust you to cooperate with me? You know better than anyone what kind of person Ye Cheng is. If he decides to act against us, we’re both finished. Aren't you afraid?"
Her words sent a shiver down Ye Wu's spine. He had thought about this matter for a long time and still hadn't found a good solution. It seemed that time was running out; he had no choice but to act. Otherwise, if this deal fell through with so many people under him now, he wouldn't be able to operate normally.
Ye Wu gritted his teeth and said fiercely into the phone, "Auntie, don't worry; within three to five days, you'll hear good news." After hanging up the phone, Ye Wu quickly walked into the living room and grabbed the phone on the table. He dialed several numbers in quick succession and said only one thing when each call connected: "Come to my house quickly." It seemed he was really going to take action.
As Fei Hu and Li Xiaoran chatted more deeply, they spent the entire afternoon talking. From their conversation, Fei Hu learned that Li Xiaoran's so-called marriage was far from happy; she even had a fashionable divorce agreement—not just for appearances but out of vanity and an unwillingness to face reality.
Just as the two were chatting happily, Fei Hu's phone suddenly rang. He looked at the screen and saw it was Yingzi calling. He quickly answered and asked, "What's wrong, Yingzi? Is there something urgent?"
"Yes, I just received news that Ye Wu might take action against Grandpa tonight. You need to come over immediately; we need to discuss this in advance. Once you arrive in A City, go directly to the East Gate of Buckingham Palace Villa Area on South Suburb Shunbei Road and wait for me." After Yingzi finished speaking, she hung up before Fei Hu could respond. It was clear that the situation was somewhat urgent, and Fei Hu had no reason not to rush over.
Li Xiaoran glanced at the slightly anxious Fei Hu and softly asked, "What's wrong? Is something happening?"
Fei Hu nodded and said, "Yes, there's something urgent. I have to leave now. We'll talk another time."
Li Xiaoran stood up a bit disappointed and said gently, "I was hoping to invite you to dinner, but it seems that opportunity is gone. I wonder when we will be able to sit together again." Women are often sentimental by nature, and seeing Li Xiaoran's expression made Fei Hu unsure of what to say. He stepped out of the private room in one stride, waving his hand without looking back; he didn't want to see the sorrow on Li Xiaoran's face.
Fei Hu took a taxi straight to the villa. He wanted to tidy up a bit and leave a note for Tang Lan. After all, he was still under her employment, living off her hospitality. He couldn't just disregard all manners; besides, the housekeeper at Tang Lan's place might leave the door open for him at night.
As soon as he ran into the hall, Fei Hu was taken aback. He saw Tang Lan and Xiao Lan sitting in the living room, chatting and laughing. He had no idea when they had returned. Fei Hu smiled slightly and asked, "When did you two come back? Why didn't you let me know? I could have picked you up at the airport."
"Haha, no need to trouble yourself; isn't there a driver? It's good that you're recovering now. You seem anxious; is there something urgent again?" Tang Lan looked at Fei Hu with tender eyes; her gaze was as gentle as could be. Since returning from Vietnam, her attitude towards Fei Hu had changed significantly, as if he were not someone she had hired but rather a friend.
Tang Lan's question gave Fei Hu an opportunity to explain himself. Feeling a bit embarrassed, he lowered his head and said, "I'm sorry, Tang Zong; I have an urgent matter that requires me to return to A City immediately. I’m afraid I can’t impose on you any longer; I can only say thank you."
"Is it that urgent? Can't you take your time? After all, I should at least treat you to a farewell meal," Tang Lan said as she stood up. It was evident that Fei Hu's sudden departure caught her off guard. Xiao Lan also stood up upon hearing Fei Hu's words, looking anxious. During this time, she had become quite familiar with Fei Hu and felt reluctant to part ways; it was only natural. However, given the urgency of the situation, Fei Hu had no choice but to decline; he couldn't take that risk.
