Just as Abiao was scared to death, Ye Wu poked his head out from the window without glass and shouted at Abiao, "You useless guy, why don't you get in here? Squatting out there, do you think the humiliation isn't enough?"
Only then did Abiao realize that Ye Wu had seen him as soon as he arrived at the villa, but the boss was throwing a tantrum and didn't want to let him in. Abiao trembled as he took a step forward and quietly said, "Brother Tiger, this time we failed to accomplish our task; it completely exceeded our expectations. On the way, we encountered a killer duo known as 'Deadly Duo'..."
"Go to hell, you bastard!" Before Abiao could finish speaking, Ye Hu suddenly stood up and swung the dragon-head cane down at Abiao. My goodness, if that hit him solidly, Abiao would definitely have to report to Yama King.
Little Four, who was following behind Abiao, was quick-witted. He stepped forward and caught Ye Wu's descending cane with one hand. However, it was evident that Ye Wu had put all his strength into that swing.
"Brother Tiger, you can't do this; that strike could take Abiao's life. Let him finish speaking first; we need to discuss this properly afterward. Right or wrong, he deserves a chance to explain," Fei Hu said with one hand rubbing the hand that had just caught the cane. Ye Wu might have been blinded by anger earlier, but after hearing Little Four's words, he retracted his cane and sat down on the sofa with no color in his face. He said to the trembling Abiao, "Don't be nervous. If it's truly your mistake, being nervous won't help. This time I, Ye Wu, will definitely go on a killing spree. Just look at it; everything that's happened recently has been a complete mess—nothing satisfactory."
"Brother Tiger, we were very careful last night. We managed to get them to the suburbs; however, two killers chased us down. They had guns and fired two shots at me—almost took my life. In that situation, to protect our brothers' lives, I had no choice but to hand over Ye Xiaofei," Abiao cautiously recounted what happened last night.
Ye Wu shot a sideways glance at Abiao and suddenly stood up with a loud shout: "You guy still isn't telling the truth! Tell me how Chen Yifei got hurt! Why didn't you bring someone to take revenge for him?"
Abiao wiped the sweat from his forehead; he finally understood that Chen Yifei must have reported him. No wonder Ye Wu didn't wait for him to speak—it seemed like he knew everything.
The clever Little Four understood the general situation and softly said to Ye Wu: "Brother Tiger, let Abiao explain everything from the beginning. We can't just listen to the result; the process is also very important. The key is to figure out who exactly this 'Deadly Duo' is—we need to understand their background."
Upon hearing Little Four's words, Ye Wu shot him an annoyed glare but still let out a long breath and said coldly: "Abiao, no cherry-picking; tell me everything from start to finish in detail. If you make things up randomly, don't blame me for being rude." Ye Wu's words made everyone present break into a cold sweat; if Abiao said something wrong and Ye Wu really decided to act against him, escaping this calamity would be nearly impossible for Abiao.
Taking a deep breath, Abiao began to recount the events he had personally observed at the school gate, explaining how Chen Yifei suddenly drew his knife, which provoked his opponent to open fire. He was not exaggerating at all; however, when mentioning Chen Yifei's action, he only stated that Chen Yifei did not listen to orders.
"Brother Tiger, Chen Yifei is too bold. Without Abiao's command, how could he act on his own? That strike could cost the lives of all our brothers! I think Abiao did nothing wrong. Don't you always tell us to conserve our strength? If I were in that situation last night, I would have done the same," the clever Little Four inferred from Abiao's words, paving the way for himself.
Ye Wu suddenly raised his cane and pointed it at Little Four, shouting, "Don't speak! I heard that the two who tried to rob Ye Xiaofei last night were disguised as Fei Hu and Yingzi. How do you explain that?" Ye Wu's eyes glinted dangerously, which was indeed somewhat intimidating.
"Impossible, Brother Tiger. Although those two were a man and a woman, the man's skills far exceeded those of Fei Hu. With just one kick, he knocked Chen Yifei unconscious. Besides, their appearances were vastly different. That guy had long hair cascading down his back. A couple of days ago, everyone saw Fei Hu; his hair was somewhat long but it couldn't have grown that fast in just two days. Moreover, when Ye Xiaofei was rescued, he looked completely bewildered and didn't recognize either of them," Abiao interjected to defend Little Four.
Ye Wu sneered and said, "Do you think they can't wear makeup?"
"Brother Tiger, there's no need for that. We've already torn off the masks; do they really need to go that far? Moreover, Fei Hu has never taken us seriously. Besides, we drove him out to the suburbs; he hasn't returned to the city. Is he a rat?" Little Four asked Mouse behind him to confirm his statement.
Mouse nodded and quietly said, "Yes, Brother Tiger. Fourth Brother and I personally saw that kid run into a factory in the suburbs and he hasn't come out since. The brothers have been monitoring him twenty-four hours a day; there won't be any issues."
Everyone chimed in with their thoughts, and Ye Wu's expression gradually softened. He paced back and forth in the living room for a couple of steps before stopping and saying, "Let's not bother with this so-called 'Deadly Duo.' We have no grievances with them anyway; let's consider last night's incident a coincidence! But we must not let our guard down against Fei Hu. If he dares to show up, we must eliminate him if necessary." Ye Wu spoke with a blank expression; it seemed he had truly made up his mind.
"Boss, are we still having breakfast?" the little maid suddenly walked in and asked softly.
Ye Wu sighed and loudly told her, "Yes! Everyone eats here. If you can't manage it yourself, call someone from outside to bring it over. Afterward, ask Aju to go upstairs and bring down my bag."
The atmosphere in the hall eased considerably as everyone gathered around the dining table but no one dared to speak carelessly. After a while, Aju placed a bag filled with items on the table before retreating.
At this moment, Ye Wu had a slight smile on his face as he unzipped the bag to reveal stacks of brand-new bills neatly arranged inside. He took out five bundles and smiled slightly at Little Four saying, "Although your recent work has left me quite dissatisfied, you've still done your best. Here’s fifty thousand; consider it a little reward for the brothers." As Ye Wu spoke, he pushed the money toward Little Four.
This gesture surprised everyone present; just moments ago Ye Wu seemed ready to devour them alive but now he was handing out money as rewards. Which version of him was the real one?
Little Four appeared flattered as he stood up excitedly saying, "Thank you, Fourth Brother!"
Ye Wu glanced at the lowered head of Abiao, pulled out two bundles of hundred-dollar bills from his bag, and tossed them in front of him, saying, "This is for you. Originally, you were supposed to have the same number of people as Little Four, but because of last night's incident, I am very disappointed with what you did, so this amount is halved. Do you have any objections?"
Abiao hurriedly stood up and said, "How could I dare! Brother Tiger is already being lenient with me and even rewarding the brothers with money. I truly appreciate it."
Ye Wu waved his hand, signaling Abiao to sit down. He then let out a sigh and said, "From today on, Abiao, you won't need to go out to gather people anymore; just follow me! As the sun shone down on the earth once more, the security team leader stood with his hands clasped behind his back in front of Shengwei Company’s entrance, appearing relaxed. Watching the company decline day by day and his own responsibilities diminish daily made him oddly happy.
"Hey Team Leader Wang! Has Fei Hu contacted you recently?" the security team leader suddenly asked Team Leader Wang, who was sitting by the window.
Team Leader Wang raised an eyebrow and replied somewhat displeased, "Why would he contact me? We don't know each other anymore."
