It was over. After expending so much effort running around, he still ended up in someone else's hands. If he had known it would turn out this way, he might as well have just sat and waited for death. Fei Hu thought about this and suddenly felt weak all over, sitting down heavily. 0

A person behind him suddenly turned on a flashlight, shining it on Fei Hu. With a hint of surprise, he asked, "What are you doing running around here in the middle of the night? Didn't you see the sign standing at the foot of the hill?" 0

Upon hearing this, Fei Hu felt something was off. He slowly stood up and turned around. In the darkness, he sensed that it was a middle-aged man who didn't seem like someone pursuing him. He sighed and said, "Big brother! I'm lost and have no idea where I am. I just ran around in a panic; do you know what mistake I made?" Fei Hu's tone was very sincere. 0

"Ah! Misunderstanding. I thought you were a thief. You may not know this area is a cemetery designated as a restricted zone by the state, and outsiders are not allowed to enter, especially at night. If suspicious individuals are spotted and cannot be stopped, we can report to the police immediately. Within five minutes, someone from the local police station will arrive," the man explained in detail. Fei Hu understood that he was speaking to make sure Fei Hu behaved himself. 0

Since that was the case, Fei Hu let out a sigh of relief and smiled, saying, "Excuse me, big brother, I want to go back to City A. Can you tell me how to get there? Is there a place nearby to catch a ride?" 0

"You asked the right person; others might not know. If you turn left here and walk about thirty or forty meters, there’s a small path. Follow that path straight ahead until you reach a country road. Once you're on the road, remember to head left for about a kilometer; you'll reach the national highway where many vehicles heading to City A pass by. You can easily flag one down," the man explained clearly. 0

Fei Hu quickly thanked him and followed his directions without hesitation, finding them quite accurate. When the crescent moon rose in the sky, Fei Hu finally reached the national highway. At that moment, he felt utterly exhausted; he sat down by the roadside and couldn't get back up. He gasped for breath and realized not only was he unbearably thirsty, but his stomach was also growling. But in such a place, where could he find food or drink? 0

Just then, his phone rang in his pocket. Fei Hu hurriedly took it out to see that it was Yingzi calling him. He excitedly answered and shouted into the phone, "Hello! Yingzi! It's me, Fei Hu!" 0

"Of course! I know it's you! Where are you now? Did something happen? I've been trying to call you all day but couldn't get through! Do you know how worried Grandpa and I are?" Yingzi's tone was stern over the phone; she seemed genuinely angry. 0

Fei Hu sighed deeply and said, "I was kidnapped but just managed to escape. Right now, I don't even know where I am. There's only this national highway here; although many vehicles pass by, I haven't seen any buses yet." 0

"It's almost midnight! There won't be any buses at this hour! Besides, you mustn't take a bus under any circumstances. Quickly look for any signs along the roadside; there must be some markers. Once you find one, send it to my phone immediately! Then get off the national highway—remember what I said!" Yingzi finished quickly and hung up. 0

Fei Hu slowly understood her meaning and immediately started running along the national highway. Soon enough, he spotted a road sign indicating **Town**. He hurriedly sent this information to her and then jumped off the national highway, hiding behind a pile of bricks stacked in the field. 0

With his hands behind his head, looking up at the stars in the sky, memories of nights spent with Ye Xiaofei in the Great Forest flooded back to Fei Hu's mind. The sky had been just as pure and bright then; one could see countless stars twinkling above. But ever since returning to City A, that feeling had vanished completely. In this quiet night, Ye Xiaofei might also be reminiscing about their past just like him. 0

Long-distance running left Fei Hu feeling more exhausted than ever before, and he gradually fell asleep without realizing it. A flurry of footsteps startled him awake; a group of people with flashlights was searching around the roadside, seemingly looking for something. 0

He heard a woman's voice say, "Strange! We had people stationed along the way, yet we haven't seen any sign of him. Could he possibly have flown away?" Fei Hu recognized the voice as belonging to a woman in black. 0

Upon hearing this, Fei Hu cautiously shrank back behind a pile of bricks. It was truly dangerous; if he hadn't listened to Yingzi and had been trying to hitch a ride on the highway, he would likely have been caught by now. 0

"Juan Jie! Let's head back! We won't find him like this. It's very possible that this guy has already boarded a bus; he might not have taken the road but crossed through the Royal Tombs," a man said as he walked. 0

"Yeah! You make a good point. This kid really has luck on his side. Let's go back and report; we'll wait for Boss to punish us!" The footsteps gradually faded away. 0

It seemed this place wasn't safe either; being too close to the highway made it easy for them to discover him. Thinking this, Fei Hu quickly got up and walked deeper into the fields. It was summer, and in one area, tall wheat swayed in the breeze. Seeing this, Fei Hu felt a surge of joy; if he could hide among the wheat, it wouldn't be easy for anyone to find him. 0

Once he thought of it, he acted on it, even if it meant trampling some local farmer's wheat—he could offer some compensation later. Fei Hu gently parted the wheat and moved inside. The wheat grew remarkably well, reaching up to his armpits; he wondered what variety it was since its height nearly matched that of corn and sorghum. Feeling it was about right, he lay down carefully. Although he flattened some wheat, Fei Hu felt particularly safe here. 0

The exhaustion from the day hit him hard at that moment, and within no time, he fell into a deep sleep. When his phone rang again, Fei Hu noticed that it was already bright outside. Due to his awkward sleeping position, his whole body ached as if he had been through a major ordeal. 0

He stretched lazily and quickly answered the call. Yingzi's voice came through with a hint of urgency: "Hello! Where are you? Why is there no one at this intersection?" 0

"Just keep your car parked under that sign; I’ll be there shortly," Fei Hu replied before hanging up. He glanced at the flattened wheat with regret; the local farmer must have worked hard to grow it, and now it was almost harvest time but had been trampled by him. After thinking for a moment, Fei Hu took out a hundred-yuan bill from his pocket and gently placed it there before swiftly leaving the wheat field. He believed that when the farmer saw the bill, they would understand his intentions and forgive him. 0

With experience now, Fei Hu didn't dare run directly onto the highway but instead observed from a distance. He confirmed that there was indeed a car parked under the sign; however, it wasn't Yingzi's vehicle. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a red BMW Z4—wasn't that Ye Xiaofei's car? A warm feeling surged in his heart at this realization. 0

Reaching the car, Fei Hu yanked open the door without hesitation and jumped inside. As soon as he sat down, fatigue overwhelmed him like a heavy weight. Starving and weak, he slowly closed his eyes again. 0

Yingzi glanced at the disheveled Fei Hu and pressed down on the accelerator; the Z4 shot forward like an arrow. The morning air was fresh, and there weren't many cars on the road as Yingzi drove fast while neither of them spoke. 0

Eventually unable to bear his hunger any longer, Fei Hu pretended to sleep again. When he woke up once more, he noticed that the car had slowed down; looking outside, he realized they had arrived at Ye Cheng Suburb's villa. 0

Yingzi jumped out of the car as soon as it was parked. She came over to help Fei Hu get out; she truly understood him well! Fei Hu didn't say anything, but Yingzi could see that he was already in a state of exhaustion. 0

As soon as they entered the living room, Sister Wu and Ye Cheng were already standing there, seemingly aware that Yingzi and Fei Hu had returned together. Fei Hu hardly paid attention to anything; he lay back on the sofa and didn’t move at all. Yingzi hurriedly picked up a glass of cool boiled water from the coffee table and brought it to Fei Hu's lips. He gulped it down quickly, finishing the entire glass in one go. 0

"Slow down, kid. We're having dinner," Sister Wu said as she jogged in from the kitchen with the already prepared dishes. Fei Hu's eyes lit up at the sight; without a word, he picked up his bowl and started eating voraciously. His eating style was somewhat alarming—he alternated between rice and vegetables, finishing three bowls of rice before finally looking up. 0

He smiled awkwardly and said, "You guys should eat too!" 0

"The dishes are all gone thanks to you! What are we supposed to eat?" Yingzi laughed as she headed towards the bathroom. 0

Sister Wu glanced at Fei Hu and gently asked, "Are you starving? Just keep eating; there’s more food. I'll go get some," she said before turning back to the kitchen. 0

The saying "Man is iron, rice is steel" couldn't be more accurate. After finishing his fourth bowl of rice, Fei Hu finally stretched and looked much more relaxed. He patted his round belly and settled comfortably on the sofa. 0

Yingzi came out after washing up and looked at Fei Hu, saying, "Once you're full, go wash up. Look at how dirty you are! There's a washing machine inside; just toss your dirty clothes in there, set it up, and by the time you finish your shower, your clothes will be ready to wear." 0

Ye Cheng, who had been silent until now, smiled and said, "Go wash up! When you're done, I have something to tell you." 0

Fei Hu nodded in response and got up to head into the bathroom. The bathroom in this suburban area was even more luxurious than those in city villas. Following Yingzi's instructions, Fei Hu adjusted the washing machine settings, filled it with water, and tossed all his clothes inside. 0

As he lay back in the bathtub, Fei Hu suddenly remembered that Ye Cheng had mentioned wanting to talk to him. Could it be something important? He found it hard to relax. 0
