In order to avoid being left behind, Yingzi pressed the accelerator again and again. Two cars drifted among the heavy traffic, creating a frightening scene. Fortunately, this was a big city, and aside from honking their horns, people managed to pull their vehicles to the side.
Thus, Ye Wu's car roamed around the city for over two hours. It wasn't until night fell that he suddenly turned around and headed straight for the suburbs. Fei Hu, sitting in the passenger seat, let out a sigh and said, "This guy didn't realize we were following him. He wasn't sure if anyone was tailing him, so he just drove around aimlessly. Little did he know that while the mantis stalks the cicada, the oriole is behind."
As Fei Hu said this, he glanced at Yingzi, who was sweating profusely.
"Keep an eye on the road ahead and stop talking so much. We've been following him for so long; we can't let him shake us off," Yingzi said, pretending to be angry as she shot Fei Hu a glare.
Fei Hu smiled and pulled out a few tissues, gently wiping the sweat from Yingzi's forehead. Unexpectedly, Yingzi pouted and said, "No need for that." Fei Hu shrugged awkwardly; men would never understand women's thoughts. At least he didn't.
At eight o'clock, aside from the dim streetlights along the roadside, the entire field was shrouded in darkness. Fei Hu felt indifferent about where Ye Wu was heading. Suddenly, Ye Wu's car came to a stop. Fei Hu quickly raised his binoculars and exclaimed, "Ye Wu is switching cars. He's in a black Ford. Let's follow him. The original car is parked by the roadside; ignore it because it seems like no one is inside."
Yingzi remained silent but immediately increased the speed of her car. Driving fast on such roads required not only exceptional driving skills but also strong mental fortitude because some sections barely allowed passing oncoming vehicles. A moment's inattention could lead to a collision. Several times, Yingzi's car forced oncoming vehicles to stop on the road.
At this critical moment, Yingzi's phone rang unexpectedly. However, with both hands gripping the steering wheel, she had no time to reach for her phone. Fei Hu glanced at her and gritted his teeth before reaching into Yingzi's pocket. Summer clothes were thin, and his hand accidentally brushed against Yingzi's smooth and elastic thigh. Yingzi shivered as if she had been electrocuted.
Fei Hu quickly pulled out his phone and saw it was a call from Mouse. Without consulting Yingzi, he answered the call. Mouse spoke urgently on the other end: "Before dark, Abiao picked over ten agile lackeys who can use guns and went out. I heard they brought guns with them in the car." Before Fei Hu could respond, Mouse hung up quickly, showing his caution.
"What’s going on?" Yingzi asked while driving.
Fei Hu thought for a moment before replying: "Mouse sent information saying Abiao took over ten armed lackeys out before dark. It seems Ye Wu is making big moves tonight. We need to be careful; should we call the police?" Fei Hu sought Yingzi's opinion.
Suddenly, Yingzi slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a halt. Fei Hu was startled and hurriedly looked ahead; they had arrived at a relatively secluded dock in the suburbs. About fifty meters away from them was Ye Wu's car, but its occupants had vanished without a trace. Using his binoculars to scan carefully, Fei Hu noticed four cars parked oddly by the roadside; they were all haphazardly parked.
"They might have gone into the cargo area. Should we call the police?" Fei Hu once again asked for Yingzi's input since he remembered Mouse mentioning that Abiao's lackeys were armed. If anything happened, who would be responsible?
Yingzi glanced at Fei Hu and said, "Don't be afraid. There are bulletproof vests in the trunk. I've prepared them long ago. Besides, calling the police now won't help. What can we say? We didn't see anything, right? If the police come, it will alert Ye Wu and he will discover that we are watching him. It will be difficult to catch him off guard again."
Yingzi's words did make some sense. Just as Fei Hu was hesitating about what to do, Yingzi had already turned the car around and parked it by the roadside. She quickly jumped out of the car, retrieved two bulletproof vests from the trunk, and then got back in, commanding, "Put it on quickly. We need to act immediately and enter the Cargo Warehouse."
As Fei Hu put on the vest, she thought to herself that this seemed like something the police would do. Why were they taking such a risk? It felt a bit unnecessary. Yingzi had already donned her vest in no time and sternly said, "Can you hurry up? Stop acting like a coward." After saying that, she jumped out of the car. Fei Hu felt somewhat reluctant but followed her out.
The two of them dared not enter through the main gate of the Cargo Warehouse directly, so they circled around to the side wall. The nearly two-meter-high wall made Fei Hu look for a way to help Yingzi climb over it. Suddenly, Yingzi took two steps back, charged forward, and effortlessly scaled the wall. Wow, this woman has some skills.
Once on top of the wall, Yingzi sat down and extended her hand.
Fei Hu didn't want to waste any time either; she stepped back two paces, charged forward, pushed off the wall with her foot, and leaped up. She grabbed Yingzi's hand and used it for leverage to get over the wall. They exchanged a silent nod before jumping down.
This was a small dock with several large cargo ships moored at the shore. Inside the Cargo Warehouse were rows of containers. For some reason, there were only two guards at the entrance of the cargo yard; apart from that, Fei Hu and Yingzi didn't see anyone else. The eerie silence of the Cargo Warehouse made Fei Hu feel an unprecedented tension.
Yingzi led Fei Hu expertly as they moved stealthily behind the containers. However, after running through most of the Cargo Warehouse, they still hadn't spotted Ye Wu or his crew. Could it be that this bastard hadn't entered the Cargo Warehouse and had managed to slip away? That would be a huge problem.
Just as Yingzi and Fei Hu were at a loss for what to do next, they heard a faint sound ahead—a container door opening. Although it was quiet, both Yingzi and Fei Hu caught it. They exchanged nods and quietly approached.
"Listen up everyone! From now on, pair up in twos and surround this container around us from all directions. If you spot any suspicious individuals, shoot without hesitation. Your guns are equipped with silencers, so we don't need to worry. Once this operation is successful, Brother Tiger will reward each of you with no less than five figures. Just wait for your money," came a familiar voice from behind one of the containers.
Fei Hu's heart began to race uncontrollably; after all, she had never done anything like this before. Yingzi seemed to notice Fei Hu's unease and squeezed her hand reassuringly—meaning not to be afraid. Yingzi's calm demeanor gave Fei Hu a sense of reassurance; after all, she was someone who had returned from riot police duty. These young punks were nothing compared to her. With that thought in mind, Fei Hu felt much calmer.
Yingzi pointed at the container beside them. Fei Hu understood her intention: Yingzi wanted to climb to the top of the container. If it were just one or two layers high, that would be manageable; however, there were four layers stacked together here. Not only did they have to climb up but they also had to do so without making any noise; otherwise, they would only end up as targets for bullets.
Yingzi gestured to Fei Hu and climbed up first. This woman seemed to have trained before. She was as light as a swallow, gripping the handle on the Container and climbing up step by step. One layer, two layers, and soon she reached the top. She climbed not only quickly but also silently. Fei Hu couldn't help but look at this woman with new respect.
There was no time to hesitate or think. Fei Hu leaped up, gripping the handle on the Container tightly as he began to climb. Although others seemed to climb easily, it was difficult for him. The surface of the box was slippery, and if he wasn't careful, he would slip. Moreover, his hands, tightly gripping the handle, felt like they were being cut by knives. Gritting his teeth, Fei Hu continued to climb step by step. By the time he reached the middle of the fourth layer, he was exhausted and felt weak all over. He could barely hold on.
In fact, he was only one step away from sitting on top of the box and gasping for air. But that one step was incredibly difficult. Fei Hu's legs began to tremble, and sweat dripped from his forehead. He wanted to give up, but how could he get down from such a height?
At that moment, two people walked over from below the box. One of them said, "Why is Brother Tiger going on a rampage this time? What’s the reason? And why did he come to the Cargo Warehouse?"
"Just do your job and be careful not to make mistakes. Brother Tiger will take you out if you mess up," the other replied, leaning against the Container. The butt of his gun hit the Container with a loud clang. Fei Hu, hanging above, was terrified. If those two below discovered someone was up there and fired a shot, he would undoubtedly die.
Thinking of this, Fei Hu found an unexpected surge of strength and scrambled upward until he was lying on top of the Container. The surface made a slight noise as his body lost support.
"Hey, it sounds like there's something up there. Is someone up there?" a questioning voice came from below.
"Are you crazy? It's so high; who could possibly be up there? Why don't you go check?" another voice replied irritably.
Listening to their fading footsteps, Fei Hu felt relieved again. He lay flat on top of the box, gasping for breath. If those two hadn't put some pressure on him earlier, he might have fallen off by now.
Yingzi crawled along the edge of the Container, her eyes observing the movements below. Suddenly she waved at Fei Hu. He hurriedly crawled over to her side.
Between two rows of Containers stood Ye Wu, followed by five or six men holding short guns. Among them were Little Four and Abiao. Facing Ye Wu was a man whom Fei Hu had seen at the café. Behind him were only two men of similar build to her. Strangely enough, in this hot weather, these two men were wearing trench coats. Fei Hu instantly understood—they were hiding weapons in their clothes. Her heart sank again.
