Here is the Dueling Arena, a vast open space with a circular Duel Arena at its center, surrounded by many spectators cheering loudly. We were still on the outskirts when a sharp male voice announced, "Next up, we have the challengers: Whirlwind Black Technique Three Demons, and the defending party: Wild Ghost." This was followed by another round of screams.
"What's this? After losing last time, you brought help," Wild Ghost said coldly.
"Last time I was careless, but today I brought my brothers to show you what we've got. Let's wager all our points; the loser will never set foot in Dream City again. What do you say?" The speaker was a rugged young man.
"Whatever," Wild Ghost replied. By this time, Silver Moon Senior and I had made our way to the front. I looked at the three demons; they were all clearly mature, even though their sapphire colors weren't very deep. They were probably around seven or eight hundred years old—wasn't this just bullying?
"You've got guts. I won't make it difficult for you; I'll give you time to find two helpers so we can be fair," said a Gorilla Demon, looking quite pleased with himself. However, there were murmurs of disapproval from the crowd; everyone could see it was not fair at all.
"Isn't this just blatant cheating? It's too much," I said to Silver Moon.
"A duel is based on mutual agreement; fairness doesn't exist in this context. I know that Gorilla; he faced Wild Ghost in his first match here last time. He underestimated Wild Ghost's size and was knocked down in less than a minute," Silver Moon said dismissively.
"What? Can't find any helpers? Don't say I didn't give you a chance, ha ha ha!" The big Gorilla laughed as if victory was already his.
"Senior, you aren't really going to just watch Senior Ghost get taken advantage of, are you?" I knew Silver Moon would have a plan; after all, he was a prince.
"Do you want me to step in and stop this duel?"
"No, Wild Ghost Senior definitely won't agree." Although I didn't know him well, I understood his proud nature.
"Then I have a plan." Silver Moon Senior smiled at me, but it felt awkward—as if I was about to be sold out...
"Here, the two of us will team up with Wild Ghost." Silver Moon suddenly raised his voice.
"Senior, you're not joking, are you? We're too young to help Senior Ghost," I whispered with my head down.
Silver Moon seemed not to hear me and tugged at my clothes as he stepped onto the Duel Arena. "Is that not allowed?" he asked again when he saw that the three demons were silent.
The stunned Gorilla quickly reacted and nodded eagerly, saying, "Alright, alright! You two can join! Ha ha ha! There are quite a few who aren't afraid of death—two little kids and one just formed! Ha ha ha!" The Gorilla was laughing so hard he looked like he might choke. Clearly, he had no idea who Silver Moon was. The one he referred to as just formed must be me since my ruby color was very light with a hint of pink. As for Senior Ghost and the others, they were already close to deep red; they didn't even consider how long it had been since I arrived in the Underworld—what a joke.
Senior Ghost looked at me and said, "You can go down now." His voice was still as cold as ever, without a hint of fluctuation.
I knew he meant well, but I had made up my mind. I wanted to be brave; I couldn't always be so timid. Didn't the captives say that without challenges, one wouldn't grow? It was under this kind of pressure that one could possibly break through oneself. I shook my head and said, "No."
Senior Ghost seemed a bit surprised, but he didn't say anything more. He turned to Gorilla and said, "Then let's begin."
"The match starts now." The referee announced before stepping down from the Duel Arena.
"Come on, little ghosts." Gorilla began to release Soul Energy, accompanied by a man and a woman. The man was small in stature, resembling a monkey. The woman was slender and quite attractive, her original form being a Black Crane. It seemed their combination was indeed impressive.
However, weren't they supposed to be adults? Why were their levels only at the Nether Sect stage? Gorilla was at the mid-stage, the monkey at the initial stage, and only the crane was at the high stage. This was somewhat different from what I had imagined. In fact, it was just that I didn't know; not everyone I encountered had such talent. The strength of these three demons was quite good for their level outside.
We also began to release Soul Energy. Silver Moon and Senior Ghost both emitted dark golden energy; they were already at the advanced Nether Sect. It seemed I was the only one who was superfluous; just now, I had reached the advanced warrior level with deep blue energy. The three black demons were stunned again.
Only they knew that deep down, they felt a chill; this group of juniors wasn't some freak, right? That newly formed one had even reached advanced warrior level. Regardless, we couldn't lose again this time. No matter how high their talent was, they were still far behind us; thus, there were only two opponents.
"Vajra Overlord Fist." Gorilla launched this attack toward the wild ghost.
"Go, Crystal Sword." The Black Crane had already taken to the air and began attacking Silver Moon.
"Your opponent is me; surround him with clones." The monkey moved quickly and split into eight identical monkey demons. In a hurry, I activated "Defense, Golden Garment."
At that moment, the wild ghost initiated his attack: "Heavenly Break Axe, Break!" The seemingly unremarkable giant axe suddenly grew much larger and effortlessly shattered the opponent's move.
"Moon Demon Arrow, go." Silver Moon shot an arrow at Black Crane, and the energies collided mid-air, exploding.
"True Demon Form, go, Xuan Jade Sword." A two-meter-sized Black Crane appeared in the Duel Arena.
Silver Moon seemed uninterested in summoning a beast; he looked disdainfully at Black Crane's attack and said, "Moon Demon Sound, Explosion." Black Crane was shaken by this powerful strike. "Do you want to try again? I don't kill female demons." Silver Moon merely utilized some simple skills of his weapon without even moving his own Six Elements. It was terrifying. Moreover, that wild ghost over there only understood how to wield his giant axe. Just how strong were they!
Black Crane looked shocked. "No way! You're strong, but we're of the same level. How can you be so fast? Why?"
"It's simple, your opponent is me, overestimating yourself," Silver Moon said disdainfully. The reason the Demon Clan is powerful in the Underworld is not just due to their numbers, but their inherent superiority. For example, demons can capture magical beasts, while spirits cannot; they can only rely on cultivation. However, a powerful spirit can also be a terrifying existence, and such a true form is something even demons cannot match. Otherwise, demons wouldn't capture magical beasts to merge with them.
Over there, the Gorilla's body shone with golden light as it gained many terrifying muscles, tearing apart the cage. As soon as it emerged, the Wild Ghost attacked the Gorilla again, saying, "You annoy me so much I want to kill you." A Seven-Colored Flower appeared in the Wild Ghost's palm, its movements elegant like a magician's hand gently caressing the petals, followed by a swirl of black smoke.
"Oh? Is your defense quite strong?" I was still entangled with that monkey; it wasn't in a hurry to break through the Golden Garment's protection. However, if this continued, my Soul Energy wouldn't last much longer. I blew into the Bone Flute and called out "Wings of Wind," but that monkey was too fast for me to catch.
"Useless, useless! I'm not playing with you anymore; go down!" The monkey put away its indifferent expression. What happened? I looked around and realized my seniors had already won; that was the difference.
"Focus! Remember, Pure Sound second layer, Meteor Umbrella." It was Yu's voice, just in time. I suddenly felt much lighter.
"Alright then, it's you—Meteor Umbrella." The Golden Garment disappeared; only I could see an invisible umbrella covering my head. In a few moments, I flashed to the monkey's side and struck it with the Bone Flute's "Wings of Wind." Clearly, it had let its guard down. As soon as the Golden Garment vanished, I began to turn invisible while simultaneously speeding up. Before it could react, I started my attack; now it was too late for it to realize. Although I was at a lower level than it, this time it was completely unguarded. Besides, now it was three against one and it was already injured; there was no need for further comparison.
"I admit defeat," the monkey said as it looked at us.
"Boss, wake up! Third Elder, come quickly!" At that moment, Black Crane's scream echoed. The monkey hurried over while I looked in that direction. The Gorilla was surrounded by a layer of black smoke—poisoned?
I saw the monkey glaring angrily at the Wild Ghost and said, "Give me the antidote."
"I don't have it," the Wild Ghost replied coldly.
"I'm going to fight you!"
"Hmph, overestimating yourself; come on."
"No! Senior Ghost, you should give them the antidote; it's not easy to stay alive, is it?" I stood between the Wild Ghost and the monkey. Just now, the monkey didn't intend to harm me; it only wanted to get me out of the way—it wasn't bad at all.
The Wild Ghost looked at me without saying a word. I felt scared; what if I angered him and he attacked me too? I noticed him tightly clenching his fists.
"Stop messing around, Xi Meng; step aside. The Wild Ghost really doesn't have an antidote. To detoxify would require wasting his first-level Soul Energy; do you know how difficult cultivation is?" Silver Moon told me. I had nothing to say.
"Boss, we agreed to conquer the world together; you can't leave me behind! You promised you'd marry me after becoming Demon Lord and said you'd protect me! Wake up!" Black Crane shouted hoarsely from where she stood. "Then I'll go with you too; wait for me, Boss."
I really couldn't watch any longer, so I walked over and said, "I'll help him with the poison."
Black Crane looked at me in disbelief. I squatted down beside her and said, "I'm not sure if I can do it because my strength isn't very strong yet. If you trust me, let me give it a try, okay?"
Black Crane hesitated for a moment, holding Gorilla with one hand while suddenly pushing me away with the other. "Get lost! If it weren't for you, this wouldn't have happened. Don't pretend to be kind." I was pushed to the ground, but I wasn't angry at all.
"Are you okay, Xi Meng?" Silver Moon came over and reached out to help me up.
"I'm fine." I shook my head and then said to Black Crane, "You're really cowardly. You don't even have hope to try. Do you really love him? If you're willing to risk your life, why do you care about trying once? If I can save him, then it's on you if he dies."
"She's right. Let her give it a shot, Black Crane," the monkey said.
Black Crane looked at me and nodded. I smiled at her and said, "Trust me." She laid Gorilla down on the ground.
Pure Sound has purifying properties, right? I felt that the killing intent on the wild ghost was too strong, and the dark power was overwhelming. His poison should be corrosive; perhaps purifying that dark aura would work. I activated Pure Sound, placed my hand on Gorilla, and transmitted the energy of Pure Sound into his body through circulation. After all, he is a demon and can't withstand the power of the divine realm. Using my body as a conduit should suffice.
All the demons and ghosts present were stunned, shocked again and again. No one knew what that white aura surrounding the girl in the Duel Arena was. Although it was brief, they indeed felt a sacred presence that didn't belong here.
The black mist around Gorilla gradually faded, and he began to regain his vitality. I withdrew my hand; this should have detoxified him. Gorilla moved slowly, opening his eyes to look at Black Crane, who was holding him. His face flushed as he quietly said, "What's going on, little crane?"
Black Crane smiled, the monkey laughed, and I laughed too. It's good to be alive, isn't it? The Soul Energy within me could no longer hold out; my vision darkened, and I collapsed. As I fell into Silver Moon's startled arms, I weakly said, "I'm fine; I'm just a bit tired. Sorry for the trouble, senior." Then I lost all feeling.
Everyone dispersed except for the wild ghost, who stood there deep in thought.
