When I opened my eyes, I was already back in the lounge. The feeling of having overdrawn my Soul Power was quite unpleasant. I wondered how the Black Three Demons were doing, and what about the Senior Ghost? He was angry at that time.
I rubbed my head and sat up, preparing to continue my training. Before I could settle down, I felt a violent tremor. My left shoulder went completely numb, and the pain made it impossible for me to move. What was happening again? Gritting my teeth, I pulled down the fabric on my left shoulder and gasped. Oh my God, when did these bite marks appear? There were two marks, and black mist was emanating from them. When did this happen? I recalled from childhood...
It was that weeping Red-Clad Demon; yes, it was him! What should I do now? If that dream was real, he was locked away, and I had been bitten by him. If this got discovered, would I also be imprisoned? No, this matter cannot be told to anyone right now. But what if something happens? How did I even find him? Ah, right, finding him! If I find him, everything will be clear, right? But how would I know where he is? Seriously, "Hey, where are you?"
Before I could finish that sentence, my body felt light again, and everything went dark. When I could see again, there was a small path—very familiar. This was where I had been last time; however, something was still missing: the sound of crying and the sound of dripping blood. My heart tightened; did something happen? Instinctively, I ran forward.
"Abomination, tell me what you have done!" An old male voice—it was the same voice from before. How strange; how did I get here? Startled, I lost control of my body and "thud," sat down on the ground. The sound wasn't loud, but they would definitely hear it; we were very close—just around a corner.
"Too late, Old Buddy; soon you won't be able to keep me here. I will definitely take revenge on you." It was that Male Demon; they seemed not to notice me. Could they not sense my presence?
"Hmph, even if I die, I won't let you leave here." That voice sounded very familiar—ah, it was Elder Qian; he was here too?
"Let's go; it seems he really doesn't intend to speak after all this time. Gather all the subordinates from Dream City and send someone to report to the Demon Emperor Silver Hall." After saying that, he disappeared.
"Come out; they are gone." It was that Male Demon; his voice carried a hint of exhaustion.
"You can sense me?" I stepped out from behind the corner and saw him, momentarily stunned. How did he become so disheveled?
"I set up a barrier; only I can see you," he said while looking at me, his green eyes seemingly unfocused.
"What happened to you? Are you okay?" I couldn't help but ask him.
"It's nothing; do you need something from me?" He looked at me and continued, "I placed a mark on you; as long as you seek me out, I will appear at any time. It's just that I'm currently restrained, which is why you're here to see me."
"Can you tell me what is going on?"
"Come closer." I walked over.
"Place your hand on mine." Hesitatingly, I placed my hand on his; the coldness deeply touched me yet felt so familiar.
It is beautiful here, a high mountain shrouded in mist, with birds singing and the gentle sound of a bubbling stream. The bushes are lush, making this a paradise for animals. However, I only see foxes; they are everywhere, beautiful and happy. Deep in the jungle stands a Bamboo Cottage, small yet exquisite. Outside the bamboo house is a Wooden Table with three chairs beside it. Sitting at the table is a beautiful female ghost, adorned in Red Makeup, gazing tenderly at a little boy beside her.
"Mom, why can't I go out to play? I haven't been outside since I was born."
"Child, you must listen. Your father and I are protecting you; there are many Greedy Fellows outside who would capture you if they saw you."
"You always say that. Why would they want to catch me? I won't do anything." The little boy pouted.
"Alright, didn't I promise you that when you turn five hundred and can protect yourself, I would let you go outside?"
"But that's still over three hundred years away, Mom." No matter how the boy pleaded, his mother remained firm.
"Whose child is so disobedient?" A male voice suddenly interrupted. A figure appeared, dressed in pure white and looking even more enchanting than the female ghost. Although he appeared human, I could tell he was a spirit, not a ghost, as I faintly sensed a fox-like scent emanating from him; he was likely around fifteen hundred years old.
"Dad, you're back! What did you bring me this time?"
"You only think about what you want." The female ghost replied. The family shared a warm laugh together.
Suddenly, a wounded Fox Demon burst in. "Fox King, a group of ghosts is attacking! There are about a thousand of them."
"Jing'er, take the child and hide; I'll go check it out," said the Fox King.
"No! If we leave, we all leave together. I know it's them coming," the female ghost insisted.
"Yes, Dad, don't go! Let's leave!" The boy tugged at the Fox King's clothing desperately.
"The father is the king here; how can he abandon his subjects and flee? Listen to me; you go with your mother first."
"No one is going anywhere; we have arrived! Hahaha!" A burly Male Ghost laughed as he spoke.
"May I ask Lord of the Underworld why you have come here today?" The Fox King asked angrily.
"How dare you speak to me like that, little Fox Demon? You escaped me hundreds of years ago; now hand over your son to us."
"Dream on, you mutt!" the female ghost exclaimed, trembling with anger.
"Of course, it's not me; it's the Demon King. She said that if you want to go back, she still considers you her sister, as if nothing ever happened," the Male Ghost said with a smile. It seemed this female ghost was of royal descent; she was the sister of Siyimo?
"Jing'er, stop wasting time with them," the Fox King said to the female ghost, then turned to the Male Ghost: "Even in death, I will drag you down with me."
"My people, I, Baiyin, am sorry for you. You must remember today and take your revenge. Blood curse, annihilate." With a thunderous roar, as the smoke gradually cleared, the Fox King had vanished. Half of the thousand ghosts were dead, and many others were injured.
"Yin!" the female ghost screamed.
"Dad! I'm going to kill you all." It was a boy; his green eyes turned blood red as his body continued to grow, his clothes tearing apart. Oh my god, it was a red-tailed mutant fox.
"It seems the Ghost King was right; truly powerful. For those who are still alive, listen carefully: if we can't capture him alive, we must kill him. We cannot give him a chance to grow," said the Male Ghost. After underestimating them earlier and suffering losses, he had become cautious.
"I won't let you succeed," the female ghost declared. She used all her Soul Power to strike her son with a palm, and the nine-tailed fox quickly flew toward Sky's Edge until it disappeared from sight. No one expected the female ghost to act this way; this strike not only allowed the boy to escape but would also likely kill him.
"You've gone mad," the Male Ghost said in shock as he looked at the female ghost.
"Even if my son dies, I won't let him fall into your hands."
I was equally stunned and hadn't reacted when the scene changed.
