I arrived at the first-grade break area with Nian, where the students from ten colleges had already gathered. By observing their performances, it was clear how well each college was represented, and the differences were significant. The group that caught my attention was sitting in the corner, dressed entirely in black. They seemed hurried, and although I couldn't see their faces clearly, the aura they exuded was definitely not as weak as I had imagined. It seemed I couldn't be too confident this time. 0

"Alright, the participating students from Demon Emperor Silver Hall should gather here," Nian said, drawing quite a few gazes. 0

It appeared that everyone was still unfamiliar with each other, as they approached in small groups. Including myself, there were eight boys and two girls. I glanced at the girl who looked similar to me; she was a female ghost, looking rather delicate and seemed somewhat surprised to see me. I nodded at her and smiled slightly. She paused for a moment before quickly responding with a smile of her own. Although she wasn't particularly striking, her smile was quite beautiful. The remaining eight male students consisted of two demons and six ghosts; I wasn't sure about their strength, but they all wore expressions of arrogance. Honestly, I didn't like their attitude; true strength never needs to be flaunted. 0

"You ten represent Demon Emperor Silver Hall, so in my eyes, you are all the same as the other participating students. You must unite and forget your individual identities; otherwise, you will suffer a crushing defeat," Nian said sternly. It seemed she recognized that pride often leads to downfall. I couldn't understand how such students could be selected; while strength is important, isn't cooperation equally vital? 0

Clearly, arrogant individuals do not heed others' advice; only through failure do they recognize their flaws. Two of the male students among the eight seemed completely oblivious to Nian's words. It appeared that failure was inevitable for them first. I frowned at Nian, who also seemed somewhat worried. 0

For the first team battle, five male students were chosen: three ghosts and two demons. Among them were the two most arrogant ones from our group. It seemed Nian intended for them to suffer a humiliating defeat right from the start to wake them up—if only they could realize it in time. 0

"All students quiet down," a male voice called out. Immediately, the entire venue fell silent. I looked towards the central platform, which was higher than the surrounding stands and designed quite luxuriously with several chairs already placed. 0

"Next, let's welcome the leaders from each college to take the stage." As soon as he finished speaking, fifteen figures took their seats at the highest point of the platform, followed by a round of applause. To my surprise, Grandpa Ronda was among them, along with one of the Three Elders I had seen last time; I still couldn't distinguish which elder he was. 0

"Next, we invite the organizer, the Third Elder of Demon Emperor Silver Hall, to speak." Applause erupted again as it turned out to be that very cold Third Elder; I could already imagine what he would say. 0

"First of all, on behalf of Demon Emperor Silver Hall, I welcome all colleges here today. I believe our college will once again surprise you all because Demon Emperor Silver Hall is forever a place for the strong." The Third Elder spoke with pride and sat down briskly after finishing his statement. 0

I thought this Third Elder wouldn't be too warm-hearted but didn't expect him to be so stubborn either; wasn't he implying that other colleges were weak? How straightforward! As expected, applause did not resonate as loudly as it had at first, and several other leaders on the platform looked quite displeased. It seemed they had indeed come prepared this time. 0

"I believe your academy will surprise us, but this time the champion is definitely going to be Champion Academy. The next competition will take place at Consecutive Champion," spoke another elder dressed simply yet exuding an imposing presence; he should be the head of Consecutive Champion. It seems that these strong individuals have quite the tempers, as they are already clashing before the event has even begun. Third Elder maintained his icy demeanor, showing no change in expression after those words. 0

"Hmph, I think both of you have spoken too soon. This competition hasn't even started yet; otherwise, losing would be quite embarrassing," said a cunning-looking elder whose body resembled a sphere. Though he appeared to be advising caution, he had already expressed his determination to win. 0

"Ha ha, let us warmly thank the elders for their remarks," the male host awkwardly interjected, trying to ease the tension between the leaders. 0

"I declare: the competition begins," announced Third Elder. 0

"In the first round, Demon Emperor Silver Hall will face Champion Academy, Azure Dragon Academy will compete against Sungqi Academy, Starshine Academy will go up against Five Elements Academy, Dawn Academy will battle Wisteria Academy, and Phoenix Academy will take on Dark Night Academy." As the host finished speaking, cheers erupted from the stands. The rivalry between these two academies was well-known; it was no coincidence that they were matched up right from the start. 0

The Students from both academies appeared in the center of the arena, five on each side. The expressions of our side's Students could not hide their pride, while their opponents wore faces full of disdain. 0

Once the barrier was formed, both sides began to release their Soul Energy. Our side consisted of three High-Level Death Warriors and two Intermediate Death Warriors. Their side had three Intermediate Death Warriors and two High-Level Death Warriors. In terms of age, it was indeed a fair match. After registering, the competition commenced. Initially, our five Students launched a strong offensive, showcasing overwhelming strength and causing significant trouble for their opponents. However, the three larger-bodied High-Level Death Warriors defended in front, shielding the two behind them who coordinated seamlessly. In an instant, the two at the back jumped onto the shoulders of the three in front—were they twins? They exchanged glances and executed identical moves as a burst of intense light shot out. Our academy's Students hurriedly activated their defenses; clearly, they were all focused on their own tasks without coordinating to counter the attack. 0

Seeing this unfold, I closed my eyes; there was no need to watch the outcome. I acknowledged that they had reasons to be proud, but they lacked the essential teamwork that would have been crucial in real combat—they would have been dead by now. Their individual pride had led to their downfall. I found more meaning in focusing on my own cultivation. 0

I lost track of time until I was interrupted by a commotion—what round was it now? It was still our academy competing, but our opponents had changed entirely; they were all High-Level Death Warriors. However, we had also swapped out two members; that girl had come in at some point. I watched for a while; she was an Intermediate Death Warrior with support skills capable of replenishing Soul Power. However, her primary focus on this skill meant her attack and defense capabilities were clearly lacking. With one powerful strike from her opponent coming her way, it seemed she wouldn't be able to withstand it. Yet at that moment, the previously arrogant Male Student surprisingly stepped in to block for her. Moreover, the remaining three seemed to have developed some level of coordination; it appeared they were beginning to understand something—I let out a sigh of relief. 0

"Maybe it's not too late for them to realize now," I murmured softly while smiling at the figures on stage. 0

"If it weren't for you, it would indeed be too late," Nian suddenly remarked. 0

I looked at Nian with confusion—what was happening? Not every academy was as strong as Champion Academy. Given our strength level, even if we weren't first in this Team Battle, we shouldn't be eliminated! 0

"Azure Dragon Academy wins," the host announced the conclusion. What? Our academy lost again? What is going on? 0

"Teacher, what happened?" 0

"Hmph, those Old Buddies teamed up against our academy. As soon as it was time to compete with us, they brought out their strongest. The rules only state that we cannot kill our opponents, and those Old Buddies took advantage of that. In the first match, they severely injured one of our Students. Even though there was a break, he couldn't fully recover and had to be replaced. Now we have three seriously injured, and after this match, we'll have to replace more. This is the ninth match, and we are currently in fifth place. It seems their intention was to eliminate us in the first round of the Team Battle. How despicable." 0

"We lost again. I'm sorry, Teacher," a Male Student said. 0

"Do you now understand where you fell short?" Nian asked. 0

"We were too arrogant. Being strong means nothing if we don't cooperate in the Team Battle. It's like one against five. It looks like this time our academy's reputation will be ruined because of us," another Male Student said. 0

"It's not too late; as long as you understand, that's what matters," Nian said with a smile. 0

"Forget it, Teacher. We have six who can still fight here, four of whom are lightly injured, which will affect our performance. The other academies only have one or two injured; we can't compete with them," a girl said. 0

"What happened to your previous pride? I hope you can see your shortcomings but not lose confidence. As long as you can still fight, lift your spirits! The Demon Emperor Silver Hall has never lost," Nian said firmly. I could see that glimmer of pride return to the Students' eyes. 0

"Alright, Xi Meng, you're up next," Nian said with a smile. 0

I nodded and exchanged a smile with Nian; I will win. 0
