"What's going on?" I was momentarily taken aback.
Nine Charm simply ignored me, walking around me and heading further back.
I turned to follow him, stunned. I immediately touched my head, feeling bewildered.
"Wait for me, Nine Charm." I hurriedly got up to catch up with him.
If being alive and rescued, arriving at the bottom of Flame Pool, and meeting Nine Charm were all surprising events, then stepping through this wall was the most astonishing moment yet.
"I didn't expect the bottom of Flame Pool to be so extraordinary," Nine Charm remarked as he walked and observed.
I looked at the scene before me; it was like a palace.
Before long, I quickly walked up beside Nine Charm, grabbing his outstretched arm and saying with confusion, "Don't touch anything yet. What if everything here is an illusion created by the Three-Headed Serpent?"
Nine Charm chuckled helplessly, "Your caution is commendable, but this is not an illusion." His tone was very certain.
Is that so? I slowly lowered my hand.
"How can you be so sure?"
"Hmph, who do you think I am? How could I not know?" With that, Nine Charm wandered off to another area.
Nine Charm, just how strong are you? And are you hiding something from me?
I felt a bit heavy-hearted and didn't speak, casually looking around. At that moment, even the rare treasures couldn't catch my eye; only at Nine Charm did I seem to hear a few gasps of admiration.
"This old monster really knows how to enjoy himself."
"There's actually so many Inner Pills from Seventh-Level Beasts." Then I heard the crunching sound as he chewed.
My heart sank again; at this level, even Silver Moon and the others wouldn't find it so easy to devour them, yet Nine Charm was treating them like candy.
"Xi Meng, you should have some too. Although it's not very useful, at least it can replenish some Soul Energy." Nine Charm held out one of the pills in front of me.
"No thanks, Inner Pills don't do much for me." Inner Pills were indeed of no use to me, but it was just a matter of my body being unable to absorb them. However, what Nine Charm said implied something else.
Since these Inner Pills were useless to him, it indicated that he was at least of the Supreme Lord level. Or perhaps, I didn't want to think further because I felt a vague unease within me.
Could it be that Nine Charm doesn't trust me?
If that's the case, then—
"Come here quickly, Xi Meng!" A low call from Nine Charm interrupted my thoughts.
I looked at Nine Charm more formally for the first time; he seemed unaware of my current state and was just staring intently at a spot ahead.
Taking a breath, I stepped towards Nine Charm.
"What's wrong?" My tone was flat.
"Here, look."
Following Nine Charm's hand, I saw a small sphere within a layer of red light. This, this is actually—
I didn't know how to describe this thing; it was an inner core, but the powerful fluctuations it emitted were astonishing, and there was a barrier surrounding it that made it impossible to touch—no, it was simply impossible to approach.
This can't be—
"It's the inner core of that Old Buddy outside," Nine Charm said.
It seems I was right.
"But why would it place the inner core here?"
"Hmph, do I even need to ask? Sometimes being clever backfires. It thought this place was the safest, but it never expected that one day we would come here." Nine Charm's face showed greed; I knew this inner core could definitely help Nine Charm improve significantly, but I still couldn't touch it.
"Then, this Three-Headed Serpent has at least reached the Underworld Sovereign Realm, right?"
Nine Charm paused for a moment before speaking. "Perhaps even stronger."
My heart sank; just based on its ability to separate its inner core from itself, this Three-Headed Serpent was definitely not an ordinary beast.
"It said it once existed in the Divine Realm," I said.
"Mm-hmm, no wonder. This monster is probably quite formidable."
Hearing this, I became anxious and said, "What should we do? I must eliminate it to save Nine Charm and Holy Spirit Village, and to find the Life Stone."
"Eliminate it?" Nine Charm's expression was strange, as if he were hearing a joke.
"It's possible. I know its weakness is fear of cold. White Soul has half of the powerful snow attribute from the Snow Demon Clan, and since the Cursed Child is inherently opposed to it, as long as we find a way to get out first and team up with White Soul, we definitely have a chance!"
Nine Charm seemed to be considering my words and said, "It's a pity. If it weren't for the fear of alerting that guy, I could definitely extract this inner core right now. Sigh, forget it; let's try to find an exit."
As he spoke, his expression was exaggeratedly regretful, sighing as he turned to look elsewhere.
I shook my head, not wanting to think too much about it. The priority was to find an exit so I could regroup with everyone and discuss our strategy.
"Xi Meng, there seems to be a secret room here." Nine Charm's voice came from not far away.
I walked towards him again. This place was incredibly large, and finding this secret room was no easy feat. Nine Charm truly lived up to his fox lineage; his nose was sharp! Of course, these were my thoughts; I didn't dare say them out loud.
"How is it? Still can't open it?" I asked.
"Well, why don't you try bumping your head against it again?" Nine Charm said seriously.
I wouldn't be that foolish. I shot him a glance and began searching for a switch. I had a feeling there must be some secret inside that would unravel my doubts.
