I hadn't closed my eyes all night. Although everything here felt so real, I clearly knew where I was and what I was doing, despite a slight wavering.
It truly felt like the human world. I watched as the sky gradually brightened, accompanied by the sound of birds chirping. Sitting up, I casually ran my fingers through my hair and stared blankly at the closed door. What was Silver Moon doing? I thought about it and gently got out of bed to open the door.
The second floor was quiet, with all the bedrooms left open. After not seeing Silver Moon's figure, I walked down the stairs, but there was no sign of him on the first floor either.
After searching for a while, I finally stopped in front of a floor-to-ceiling window. Outside was a small garden, and not far away stood Silver Moon, looking dazed. His expression was blank, and for some reason, he seemed so pitiful…
Sighing, I prepared to go find him when a small dog we had at home ran over and started circling around Silver Moon. This little dog resembled my pet from the human world. I had mentioned it during casual chats with Silver Moon, but I never expected it to appear so vividly in his dream.
In fact, looking around, everything here was something I liked.
Silver Moon squatted down to pick up the little dog, smiling so gently. Seeing his figure under the slightly dazzling sunlight made my heart ache, but I still walked towards him.
"Xi Meng, you woke up really early today," Silver Moon said as he slowly approached with the little dog in his arms. Looking into his eyes filled with happiness made me feel a sudden pang.
"What's wrong? Didn't sleep well? What do you want to eat this morning? I'll make it for you. Oh, and you should take this Little One out for a walk; it wants to go outside."
Silver Moon said a lot more, but unfortunately, I didn't hear any of it. All I could see was his mouth moving while my mind was consumed with thoughts of waking him up.
Noticing that I hadn't responded for a long time, Silver Moon leaned closer and reached out to touch my forehead, asking in confusion, "You're not sick; why do you look so listless?"
I closed my eyes tightly and clenched my hands, desperately telling myself that I couldn't see anything or hear anything; it was all fake—fake! Everyone outside was waiting for us to return; it was time to wake up!
"Alright, Silver Moon." My voice was very soft, but he could hear me. Honestly, I had no strength left.
I released my hands and sighed as I opened my eyes to look at Silver Moon.
"You seem off today. What's wrong?" Silver Moon asked, worry evident on his face. I could only choose to ignore him.
"You ask me why I woke up so early today? Well, did you really fall asleep?" I said clearly, word by word, shattering his dreams with my own hands.
Silver Moon's expression seemed to show a slight crack, his demeanor stiff and at a loss.
"How could you sleep? You are a ghost, and this place has never been the human realm."
"Heh heh, Xi Meng, do you even know what you're saying?" Silver Moon laughed unnaturally, as if I had told an absurd joke.
"It's time to wake up. Have you forgotten your mission?"
"I don't understand what you're talking about at all!" Silver Moon's tone became somewhat forceful, as if he didn't want to continue the conversation, turning away from me.
"Alright, you don't understand? Then let me tell you what I'm talking about right now!"
I'm sorry, Silver Moon. Each of us lost the power to choose for ourselves the moment we stepped onto this path!
I quickly approached Silver Moon and reached out to forcefully knock the little dog in his arms to the ground! The dog yelped in pain on the floor, its cries sounding just like a real pet dog; it was in pain and afraid! Gritting my teeth, I shouted.
"Fusion Technique, Fire Tongue!" Burn it all down!
The little dog instantly transformed into a wisp of wind and vanished.
"Look, Silver Moon! Everything is fake; this place is all a figment of your imagination!"
I shouted as I continued to burn, setting fire to the entire house and destroying large areas of the garden. It wasn't until the flames began to spread towards us that I slowly calmed down and stopped.
Throughout the entire process, Silver Moon did not move or say a word. I would have preferred him to question me or scold me for being cruel, but unfortunately, there was no emotion in his eyes.
"Xi Meng, you are the most cruel person in the world," Silver Moon said quietly, still showing no signs of emotion.
I'm sorry! I could only say this in my heart.
"Tell me, everything here is fake, including you liking me?"
His vacant gaze was filled with pleading; he was desperately struggling and praying for one last hope. Looking at him like this, I truly couldn't respond.
I turned my back to him and said, even if it wasn't true, "Yes."
"Hahaha, I should have known that you would never like me, never. In your heart, there is only the prisoner." Silver Moon collapsed to the ground in despair.
I felt as if something had suddenly slipped away from my heart; it was painful, yet I couldn't grasp it. The pain made me forget to consider how Silver Moon knew about the prisoner.
"I won't be harsh on you; Silver Moon has long lost his dignity." His voice choked with sobs. I was aware that he was crying in despair, yet I could not turn around.
I felt the earth tremble, and the surroundings began to distort. Suddenly, a pair of hands tightly embraced me.
Darkness returned to engulf everything.
