In a daze, I seemed to arrive at a place that felt very unfamiliar.
“Xi Meng, hurry up!” It was the voice of the Rebellious One.
I looked at him in confusion. Shouldn't the Rebellious One be with the Wild Ghost? Why was he appearing before us?
“Come on, Xi Meng!” This time it was the voice of White Soul.
“Go!” That furious voice must belong to the Wild Ghost.
“Xi Meng, I'm sorry, you have to remember me…” My heart trembled; it was Silver Moon.
Where is this place? Why is everyone saying goodbye to me when I can't see anyone's shadow? No, it's not a farewell; it feels more like—parting.
“Where are you all? Come out!”
“Hahahahaha, boohoohoo.” Again, that malicious laughter. Everything is a lie; perhaps it's all that monster's doing!
“Do you think you can deceive me? I won't believe it; everyone is waiting for me!”
I thought this time, as long as I remained steadfast in my heart like before, I would surely get through it. But when I saw everything clearly, I realized I was wrong again…
The Rebellious One and White Soul were gravely injured on the ground, almost losing consciousness. Only their fingers moved weakly, their unwilling eyes opening and closing.
Silver Moon leaned against one side, muttering something under his breath, his right hand tightly clutching his chest, veins bulging on his face.
Only the Wild Ghost struggled there, seemingly defending against something. But I couldn't see what he was fiercely staring at; there was nothing in front of me.
“Who did this to you?” I rushed around everyone.
My hand reached out and then retracted. At that moment, I wished that the Silver Moon before me was fake, just an illusion.
"Xi Meng, hurry up!" Silver Moon's voice was hoarse as he shouted ahead of him.
At that moment, I realized it was still an illusion because I was on his right side.
However, in the next second, my heart tightened again. No, what I had encountered before were events from the past. So now that I appeared in the illusion, what did that signify?
I dared not think of that terrifying possibility.
"Moon, I won't leave everyone behind." I said, looking at Silver Moon's profile, regardless of whether this moment was real or not.
"No, listen to me. Only if you survive is there hope," Silver Moon replied.
At that moment, it felt as if my heart was struck heavily. Why did our conversation resonate so perfectly, as if it had happened before?!
"I won't go." I continued to look at Silver Moon and said.
"Have you forgotten your mission? You once said that protecting the human realm is your destiny. Don't regret it for our sake." As soon as I finished speaking, Silver Moon continued.
He was desperately trying to persuade me to leave, but he couldn't see me. Yet the conversation we just had was truly between him and me.
I fell silent, feeling extremely anxious inside.
"He is right; you must survive." Silver Moon suddenly lowered his head and uttered this line.
Who is he? Is there anyone else speaking besides me? Why didn't I hear them? Who exactly is it?! What did they say that made Silver Moon feel so hopeless?
I kept thinking, turning my head back and forth, unable to find anything. I felt my nerves were in complete disarray, as if I had walked into a deadlock with no way out.
"Bang!" A cold light shot across right in front of me, shattering White Soul and the opposing force into pieces.
"Don't, don't, don't!" I cried out in agony as I ran towards the opposing force and White Soul, but there was nothing left.
Suddenly, a sharp long arrow pierced the head of the wild ghost in front of me. He did not struggle at all, remaining completely still.
“No, please don’t, stop, don’t—” I rushed towards the wild ghost, screaming heart-wrenchingly, but I could do nothing to save the tragically dying wild ghost, kneeling blankly beside him.
I was so tired, really so tired...
Instinctively, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. No, don’t—
Before I could react, a scream erupted from behind me; it was Silver Moon!
I trembled and turned around, yet I hesitated to lower my gaze to look at the fallen Silver Moon.
“Moon—!” My anguished cry echoed throughout the palace.
Silver Moon had long since lost his breath. His tightly shut eyes seemed to be intentionally closed forever, never wanting to open again. What had he seen that was so sorrowful?
They are all dead, all gone; finally, only I remain...
“What’s wrong? Are you scared?” It was a woman’s voice. Had that hidden monster finally revealed herself?
She had won. I was in so much pain that I wished I could die...
