"No—!" I screamed, using every ounce of strength I had left.
Watching the scene unfold before me, I collapsed to the ground, trembling, unable to utter another word.
Hanako, Hanako, why?
"Woo, woo, woo, woo..." I cried helplessly.
Who will come and help me?
I watched in horror as Hanako stood in front of me, those devilish creatures instantly tearing his body apart, ravenously consuming him until nothing remained, not even a chance for Hanako to cry out for help.
I was on the brink of collapse. What kind of hellish place is this? What are those things?!
If only I had listened to Hanako's warnings, we would never have come here, and Hanako wouldn't have died. What should I do? He still had unfulfilled wishes and hadn't had the chance to tell me.
I felt something within me break free in that moment; my cold face twisted with cruelty, resembling the bloodthirsty owners of those eyes. If I was still waiting for death now, then I was nothing but a waste!
"Give him back to me!" I screamed, glaring at the figures of the Half-Beasts—those with the bodies of men and the heads of owls, their strange eyes glinting.
It was them, without a doubt; those eyes belonged to them!
The creatures seemed to sense my fury and halted their advance toward me.
"I said, give Hanako back to me!"
I had completely lost my sanity, speaking to them! At that moment, all I knew was that perhaps Hanako wasn't dead yet—he might still be inside their bellies. As long as I killed them and cut them open, maybe Hanako would live!
I frantically summoned the Pure Sound Armor; such a beautiful weapon would transform into a harbinger of death at this moment, revealing its other side of cruel beauty.
"Rift Sky Seal, break for me!" The black vortex swept through, each figure of the Half-Beasts exploding one by one, liquid splattering everywhere. I couldn't see; I was only searching for Hanako—where is he?!
No, no, still no! Then kill, keep killing!
Those things had no power to fight back in my frenzied state; they even tried to escape.
Is it possible?
I smiled eerily; no one can escape!
...
I don't know how long I had been killing. Feeling somewhat exhausted, I slightly slowed down and stopped. The ground was littered with corpses, and blood was everywhere. I didn't know what they were.
Almost all the monsters had been killed when I regained some sanity and noticed the source of the foul smell from when I first entered. There were still a few surviving monsters trying to escape into that area.
As I walked over, I crushed those monsters. I felt furious; it was these weak creatures that had taken Hanako's life in an instant!
I stood by the bubbling Green Liquid pool, letting the last monster go, watching it jump straight in.
Suddenly, the Green Liquid began to churn violently, the bubbles in the center growing larger and larger until, with a "bang!" it exploded!
The Green Liquid surged toward me, and I instinctively dodged, but there was still a chance of being hit.
I clearly saw a stream of Green Liquid shoot toward my left arm, and suddenly my entire arm vanished without any pain.
Panicking, I watched as more liquid sprayed toward me and clumsily began to defend myself just in time to avoid it. After the attack, my whole body started to tingle. What is this? It could even damage my Pure Sound armor?!
A giant green figure emerged from the pool, causing the liquid to disappear instantly. The green figure foolishly waved its arms, its body round like a pufferfish in distress, covered in spikes of various sizes. Even more terrifying was that everything it touched was dissolved.
“Rift Sky Seal, break!” I launched my attack first.
The black vortex imprint shot out, but unfortunately, before it could reach the Green Monster, it was destroyed by the spikes on its body! Damn!
The Green Monster seemed very angry. It reached back with its arm, and just as I was curious about its intentions, it grabbed the Half-Beast that I had let go. In an instant, it melted it down, leaving a pool of red liquid behind, completely ignoring the struggles of the Half-Beast before its death, cruelly crushing it.
They—were they not on the same side?
Then it could only be said that those Half-Beasts wanted to take revenge on me, luring this big monster out and sacrificing themselves for vengeance.
Damn it, if I had known this would happen, I should have left none alive!
Now that I had mostly regained my composure, I realized I couldn't stay here any longer; that big monster would soon come after me! I wasn't foolish enough to think I could contend with it; there was simply no comparison!
Thinking this, I quietly turned around, preparing to leave.
"Roar—" Suddenly, a gust of wind mixed with a foul stench came from behind; it was the monster's roar.
I had to stop in my tracks; it was clear that it was coming for me.
"What? Disturbing my sleep, and you think you can just leave?!"
...
My mind instantly began to devise a plan, but it was too late.
