"Why should I leave? It's you, Ink Seal, who is now lying?"
The Northern King’s expression stiffened as he clenched his fists and stared at the Southern King. He was genuinely nervous. I instinctively took a step back; was the Northern King lying to me?
"Purple Seal, you have already lost. The Grim Reaper said that whoever finds her first wins."
"Is that so? But I remember the Grim Reaper saying that whoever finds her and brings her to him completes the task."
"Does it make a difference? I found her first and was planning to take her to the Grim Reaper. What does your sudden appearance mean?"
"What does it mean? Of course—it's a snatch!"
"You—"
"Me? Ink Seal, you will never win against me."
"We're leaving!" The Northern King chose to ignore the Southern King and walked directly towards me, gripping my arm tightly as if to pull me away.
"Little girl, are you sure you want to travel with this dangerous person?" the Southern King said, grabbing my other arm.
Enough is enough. After listening to them for so long, I had started to figure things out. I was already anxious, yet they still had the time to play games with me?!
"Enough! I'm not going with anyone; I will find the Grim Reaper myself!"
I had to find the Grim Reaper. Right now, he was the only one who could help me regain my true form, and there was another reason…
"Little girl, you can't find him by yourself," Purple Seal said.
"I told you to come with me," Northern King said.
"No, I can go by myself!" I turned to leave.
"Do you know where to go?" Purple Seal asked calmly.
"I can ask."
"Do you know whose territory this is?"
"…"
"Can you defeat us?"
"…"
"This way," Purple Seal said with a smile, pointing in another direction.
"Let's put our matters aside for now and find the Grim Reaper first," I said to Northern King.
Northern King nodded, indicating agreement, although it was clear there was no sincerity between us.
"Let's go." Northern King glanced at me awkwardly, signaling me to follow, then stepped forward, leaving Southern King and me behind.
Is he not worried that Southern King might take the opportunity to abduct me? Is this trust?
Thinking about their remarkably similar faces and their tone of voice when speaking, they must have known each other for a long time. Are they friends?
But why is there still so much war and killing? I just can't understand...
I had been contemplating what they wanted me to do, but everything I saw on the way left me stunned. I suddenly realized that I was truly in hell.
I thought the village I was in was backward, with its inhabitants being emaciated and disabled. However, as I looked around, why did everyone seem like they had been subjected to torture? Their bodies were severely mutilated, and many were disabled, with… faces that were grotesque.
Everywhere I looked, there were broken villages and scarce resources, even worse than the impoverished areas of the human realm.
"Surprised?" Southern King asked.
I nodded honestly; indeed, it felt so miserable to live here.
"What is hell? It includes me and Ink Seal. We face punishment every day, both tangible and intangible, piercing to the core."
"Living here is already a form of punishment," Southern King said with a sense of weariness.
"Is there no escape?"
"No escape, unless we endure all the punishments. But Ink Seal and I still have a long way to go."
"Is that why you need me?" Don't blame me for jumping topics so abruptly; I had a vague feeling it was related.
"Sigh, let's keep walking. Perhaps there are even more frightening things ahead."
