"Good morning, Xi Meng. You don't look so well today," Xiaoyan asked with concern as we arrived at school.
"It's nothing, I might have gone to bed a bit late last night."
"Then why not take a little nap since there are no classes right now?"
"I'm fine. By the way, has Yin Donghang been found?"
"Huh? Is Yin Donghang missing? Isn't he always at school?" Xiaoyan looked at me in surprise, then smiled and said, "But Xi Meng, when did you start being interested in boys?"
"That must be my misunderstanding."
"Well, even if you are interested in Yin Donghang, it might not matter much. I heard he's with Su Qing from the class next door. What a shame, another good guy off the market."
"They're quite a match," I replied casually, relieved that Fan Gang must have changed the schedule.
"By the way, there's something else. Our Old Campus is supposed to be rebuilt, right? I heard there have been accidents delaying it until now, but it was completely torn down this morning."
"What about the Wishing Stone?"
"Wow, Xi Meng, I thought you didn't pay attention to anything. I didn't expect you to know about the Wishing Stone... The school will definitely keep it; it won't be moved."
"Oh, I see."
"What's up? Did you want to make a wish?"
"Hehe, I've never believed in that kind of thing."
As soon as I got home, Shi asked anxiously, "Miss, how is your health recovering?"
"Well, there's no problem."
"Why don't you rest tonight? Don't go out, Miss."
"I know my body well; I'm fine. We'll proceed as usual."
"Alright, but if you feel unwell on the way, please tell us immediately. Don't push yourself."
"Okay, I will."
...
The Nether Energy within Kurozawa should not be underestimated. Although most of it has been purified by Pure Sound, some still remains and is wreaking havoc inside me. After a whole day, my vision is blurry and there's a tearing pain in my chest. I forced it to one area of my body, managing to suppress it for a moment.
"Miss, Miss, are you listening?" Shi waved his hand in front of me.
Damn it, I can't hear anything; my body is feeling worse and worse.
"Be careful ahead," Shi sighed.
Is there someone ahead? I can't feel anything...
"Grandma, Grandma, please save Little Bird!" A cry for help came through; it sounded like a little girl.
"Damn brat, what is this?!" That voice—Kurozawa?
"Let's go; we need to hurry ahead!" I urged the three beside me.
"Big bad guy, you bullied my Little Bird, hmph!"
What is going on... I was stunned.
A little girl, around six or seven years old, with two pigtails, was bouncing around happily, chanting to herself.
"Let you taste the power of Little Bird!"
"Kid, hurry and get them away! What the hell are those things?!" Kurozawa shouted.
It seemed that Kurozawa was trapped. Were those five dolls... so ugly!
They looked like five humanoid dolls made from colorful scraps of cloth, haphazardly stitched together with random noses, eyes, and mouths, not even having hair.
These five Little Dolls managed to overpower Kurozawa?!
"Miss, please don't interfere; those five are Poison Dolls," Shi said quietly.
"Poison Dolls?" I replied in disbelief.
I thought the one I picked up last time was ugly enough, but compared to these five in front of me, it suddenly looked much better!
"Does this mean that little girl is a descendant of the Witch Clan?" I asked.
"That's right. Only descendants of the Witch Clan can create Poison Dolls. Although these Poison Dolls aren't strong, considering the age of that little girl, it's quite impressive," Shi said.
"Hehe, this time Kurozawa is in trouble... He excels at Nether Energy and controlling others' mental wills, but combat attacks are definitely his weakness. Aside from being able to manipulate others' consciousness, Kurozawa has no offensive power. Now encountering a descendant of the Witch Clan who specializes in curses might not be so easy for him to escape," I chuckled.
"Exactly. Both sides are using soul manipulation techniques; it’s a matter of who has the upper hand," Shi said.
"From what I see, that little girl from the Witch Clan has the advantage," I remarked.
"Not necessarily, miss. Look," Shi said.
It seems that Kurozawa is about to counterattack.
A dark aura emanated from Kurozawa, spreading in all directions.
This is bad! Kurozawa actually has the ability to control any living creature?!
This area is remote, filled with numerous trees. Suddenly, dozens of large trees were uprooted, transforming into menacing Tree Demons, extending their long branches to grab at the Poison Dolls and the girl!
Five Poison Dolls were torn apart in an instant.
The little girl hurriedly took out more than ten Poison Dolls from her small cloth bag, hoping to escape amidst the chaos.
"Kid, you can't run away; today is your day of sacrifice!" Kurozawa said with a sinister expression.
Kurozawa, oh Kurozawa, truly your nature is hard to change; you are utterly incorrigible, not even sparing a child!
"Let's go, we need to—" I hadn't finished speaking when I felt something jump out from my clothes.
Is it that Poison Doll I picked up earlier?
It hopped right into the midst of the Tree Demons, standing in front of the little girl.
"Pichino, what are you doing here?!" The little girl's voice was sweet yet couldn't hide her surprise and joy.
Pichino? What a strange name... So this Poison Doll's owner is this little girl?
"Xi Meng, once I deal with this brat, it'll be your turn," Kurozawa said.
"Kurozawa, I didn't expect you to be so ruthless towards children."
"Hah! Anyone I find displeasing must die; don't worry, your turn will come soon."
"Don't wait any longer, take this opportunity now!"
"Alright, since you're eager to die, I'll grant you that."
With a cold snort, he declared, "Purgatory Fire—" Dozens of Tree Demons were instantly engulfed in flames, crackling and turning to ash in the blink of an eye.
How could such a small character withstand his Purgatory Fire? Indeed, one thing overcomes another.
"Wow, Big Brother is amazing!" The little girl clapped her hands excitedly and began to bounce around.
"Little sister, you should leave quickly while you can. Don't come out alone at night; it's too dangerous," I urged. I knew Kurozawa well; he would never give up until he achieved his goal.
"Sister, can you handle this?" To my surprise, the little girl was still worried about me.
"No problem. I have a score to settle with him; you leave first."
"But Grandma told me—"
"You two are not allowed to leave; you will both die here today!" Kurozawa seemed furious at being ignored by us.
"O great Great Lord of All Demons, loyal Parasitic Host, summon forth your power—Corpse Demon!"
A chill ran through me as I realized that Kurozawa had already sacrificed his soul, but I never expected the target of that sacrifice to be the Demon Lord?!
"In the past, when the Demon Lord caused chaos in the Underworld, it didn't create much of a stir due to the small number of demons. After being captured by Yama Queen, there was no further news," said Shi.
I never expected that Yama Queen had overlooked this; the Demon Lord was hiding in the Dark Song, waiting for a host. Now he was conspiring with Siyimo! No wonder I felt something off about Kurozawa's Nether Energy; it was tainted with demonic influence!
"Miss, you must listen to me this time. We three will hold them off here; you take that little girl and run!" Shi insisted.
"Shi, you know I won't leave on my own."
"Now is definitely not the time to argue about this, miss!"
"Sister, do you know what a Corpse Demon is?" the little girl asked innocently from the side.
The ground split open, and countless dead bodies buried beneath the earth began to rise, scrambling out of the Ground. The ground was littered with corpses, a putrid stench filled the air, and the sounds of painful moans echoed around us.
"Ah!" The little girl screamed in fright and clung tightly to me.
In an instant, we were surrounded by an impenetrable mass of Corpse Demons.
"Xi Meng, this time you—will die," Kurozawa said in a deep voice. "Undead King, if you fail to complete your mission, you can just crush your own skull."
The emaciated black skeleton bowed respectfully, its bones cracking.
Undead King, an immortal being.
"Xi Meng, these creatures are already dead; they have no thoughts or souls. Your Dark Song will be of no use here," Kurozawa stated.
It seemed that this time we had no choice but to fight hard. Looking towards the distant horizon, these Corpse Demons could not stand the light, but dawn was still far away.
"You won't last until dawn," Kurozawa saw through my thoughts.
There were too many; even if we kept attacking, we probably wouldn't last until dawn before our Soul Energy ran out.
"The Corpse Demons aren't strong; let's split up," I said calmly. "Little sister, stick with me."
"Pichino, you hurry and go find grandma," the little girl whispered.
The Poison Doll instantly shrank several times and disappeared in a flash.
"Big Sister, hold on; grandma will definitely come to save us."
"I can do it." Although I held no hope, at least I would protect the girl safely.
"Flames of Hell—"
"Armored Serpent True Form—"
"White Crane True Form—"
Sha, Dong, and Shi had already begun to fight, unleashing their full power to sweep away a significant number of enemies. I looked at Shi with concern; this was where his attack and defense were weak, and many Corpse Demons were tearing at his pure white wings.
"Snow Dance, go—" I was not in a much better situation, surrounded by Corpse Demons and struggling to breathe.
"Xiao Yin, Pure Sound Armor." It consumed a lot of Soul Energy, but it was necessary to ensure the little girl’s safety while she followed me.
"Little sister, come onto my back and hold on tight." I flapped my wings and flew away from the Ground.
"Xi Meng, you can't hold out for long like this." Kurozawa said in a low voice.
I ignored him, desperately striking at the Corpse Demons on the Ground.
"Phantom Destruction!" I shouted as I fought with all my strength, regardless of how long I could last or how many I could kill.
At least I could lighten the burden for Shi, Dong, and Sha.
Not good, the aura that Kurozawa left in my body last night might have sensed his presence along with these undead creatures, starting to stir excitedly within me.
My vision blurred again, and my body felt like it was about to tear apart, as if something was trying to break free from within.
"Big Sister, what's wrong?!" The little girl on my back asked anxiously.
I also felt my body starting to lose balance, swaying violently from side to side, but there was nothing I could do to control it.
"Big Sister, be careful!" the little girl shouted, and I felt a tightness behind me.
In the blur, the Undead King lunged at me, wielding a sharp dagger in each hand, glinting coldly as they aimed for me.
Damn it, I felt the Pure Sound Armor's defense weakening, and my body was about to fall to the ground. The Undead King's daggers were particularly blinding.
The two daggers rushed towards me; in a panic, I managed to dodge one but only just.
"Thud!" One dagger struck hard into my right side.
I gritted my teeth to endure the pain, pulled out the dagger, and with the Pure Sound Armor forced to its limits, I began to fall rapidly...
"Dong, catch her!" I used the little remaining Soul Energy to throw the girl towards Dong; there was nothing else I could do.
"Miss!" shouts came from three directions.
I closed my eyes, preparing to plunge into the endless sea of Corpse Demons.
I would be crushed...
