"A mere mortal dares to think of taking the Ice Spirit Stone!" A roar surged towards me like a violent wind. I felt utterly powerless, as if my body was about to fall apart.
What was even more terrifying was that this person could see I was human!
The overwhelming aura pinned me against the ice wall, a piercing cold that left me speechless.
The fluctuations of Soul Energy grew stronger; was this person finally going to reveal themselves?!
Suddenly, a rift tore open in space, and in the blink of an eye, a figure appeared atop the Ice Palace, looking down upon everything around.
He was undoubtedly a king who would make you willingly bow down. I never imagined I would witness the guardian of the Lost City of Lothar with my own eyes, nor did I expect him to possess a divine aura.
His body was crystal clear, reflecting a shimmering light. His robust limbs and muscular tail formed graceful arcs, while his head was adorned with thick fur. His entire body was uneven, resembling polished muscle lines, with no color variation from top to bottom. This being's true form was a lion made of ice crystals; such beautiful ice crystals must have taken millions of years to form!
I finally understood why even such a precious Ice Spirit Stone would fear this being.
"Roar—!" The guardian suddenly let out a deafening roar, making me feel as if my skin and flesh were about to separate. The Ice Spirit Stone quickly burrowed behind me, blocking some of the wind pressure.
I couldn't comprehend; did the guardian really intend to kill me? Such Soul Energy was beyond my capacity to withstand.
Gritting my teeth and holding on was futile; with the guardian's strength, he wouldn't need a reason to kill me. I had nowhere to escape.
I had to fight back!
"Pure Sound Armor, activate—"
"All Nether Beasts, Guardian Formation—Guardian Formation—!"
The pressure was becoming increasingly intense, and it felt like my internal organs were about to burst. The two inner elixirs were operating at such a rapid pace for the first time, stimulated by this overwhelming force, triggering a strong resistance.
The Guardian seemed momentarily stunned and increased the Soul Energy even further.
Just as I felt I was on the verge of exploding, that violent pressure suddenly ceased.
“Who is Yama Queen to you?” a deep voice asked, less agitated than before.
“My master,” I replied succinctly, fearing that if I said another word, this hot-tempered Guardian would go mad again.
“Yama Queen actually chose a successor.” This sounded more like he was asking himself, lightly spoken, and I did not respond.
“How is she—now?” Compared to before, the Guardian's tone softened slightly.
“My master is no longer here…”
“What did you say?! Roar—!” The Guardian seemed to go insane, shouting wildly as the massive palace became a scene of chaos.
“Who did it? Who harmed Yama Queen?” The Guardian flashed in front of me, breathing heavily with anger.
“Years ago, to seal the demon race, my master nearly exhausted all her Nether Energy, becoming increasingly weak until she finally faded away.”
“The demon race?!”
“That's right. Moreover, the demon race has already awakened again. The reason I came here is—”
“No need to say more. Everything outside has nothing to do with me. Ever since I created the Lost City of Lothar, I have not stepped out of here even once.”
Although I wanted to say that Siyimo would not overlook any corner of the Netherworld, and that it was only a matter of time before this place was affected, I held my tongue. How could an adult like this not understand such things? I lowered my head and chose not to continue.
"Her method of Nether Energy has indeed found a successor, but Little Doll, your strength is still too weak."
"I want to grow quickly, but I'm afraid time is running out," I sighed.
In a flash, the Guardian returned to the high platform, his sharp gaze scrutinizing me as he asked, "Now that you are in the Demon Realm, have you considered obtaining treasures?"
"Of course," I replied firmly. "Only by acquiring treasures can my companions and I leave here as soon as possible."
"Stay here," the Guardian suddenly said.
I was taken aback and looked at him in confusion.
"Since you are the disciple of the Yama Queen, I will not treat you unfairly. If you have the strength, I will pass on the position of Guardian of this city to you."
I certainly did not expect things to develop so suddenly, and I was at a loss for how to respond. I was not seeking the position of Guardian here; rather, I feared that refusing might anger this adult.
"What’s wrong? A tremendous opportunity is offered to you, and you still don’t value it?" The Guardian's tone turned slightly angry when I did not respond.
Just as the atmosphere became tense, suddenly—
"Los Crystal, why are you getting angry with a child—"
I was startled; that voice was…
"Ha, who did I think it was? You little brat dare to wander into my Demon Realm."
"Ancestor!" I exclaimed in surprise.
The Guardian was equally taken aback upon hearing this.
"Los Crystal, I am no longer the Xi Tianzong of the past," the Ancestor declared, showing no signs of weakness, exuding an overwhelming presence.
As he spoke, a powerful Soul Energy radiated from him, carrying a strong aura of death that seemed to momentarily reveal glimpses of hell. If he were to unleash such Soul Energy upon me, I would likely find myself heading back to hell once more.
"Do not forget whose territory this is. Roar!" The Guardian's commanding presence was provoked, and the atmosphere grew even tenser.
Just as it seemed that neither party would back down and a fierce battle was about to ensue, the Guardian unexpectedly chose to withdraw first!
"I will not make a move against Sister Three's people," Los Crystal suddenly said with a smile. "The Yama Queen truly has a connection with your family; both of her disciples are from the Xi Family. The first one is now a Grim Reaper—" He squinted at me as he continued, "So what about this one?"
I shuddered; I was starting to lose track of the situation.
"You should have known she is different," the Ancestor interjected, blocking the Guardian's greedy gaze.
"Once you enter my Lost City of Lothar, I shall be the one in control; no one is exempt from that. But considering she is a disciple of the Yama Queen, I will give this Little Doll a chance to stay by my side," the Guardian said casually. However, it was clear that he still held some fear of the Ancestor; otherwise, with his temperament, he wouldn't have said so much.
"Hah, do you still remember why you and your master fell out and drew boundaries back then?" the Ancestor sneered.
The Guardian's expression suddenly turned quite grim.
"Isn't it because you became greedy for Nether Energy and always wanted to claim its secrets for yourself?" the Ancestor continued.
The Guardian bared his sharp teeth and glared furiously.
"Even if you are thinking about Xi Meng now, it is still useless. The method of Nether Energy is not something that someone with your mindset can practice."
"Eternal Ice Crystal is a pure substance, but unfortunately, Los Crystal, you have been tainted by those ugly desires." The ancestor's tone shifted, revealing a hint of regret.
"Do you still remember why you created the Lost City of Lothar... what has this city become now?"
Could it be that the Lost City of Lothar has another purpose? Are those treasures and tales of powerful beings merely a facade to deceive others?!
"How do you know this! Roar—!" The Guardian's eyes changed, bloodthirsty red filled with frenzy.
"If I had come here today with the souls of the dead from hell to see you, do you think we could still talk so calmly?" The ancestor remained confident, a smile on his face.
"Even the divine realm dares to meddle in my affairs regarding Los Crystal—!" As he spoke, the Guardian lunged at the ancestor, claws scratching together, his gaze fierce.
The ancestor showed no fear, but I couldn't help but feel a cold sweat!
Even though the ancestor has now ascended to become a god of death, Soul Energy is still not comparable to Los Crystal, this Eternal Ice Crystal. Naturally, I worried that the ancestor might suffer losses.
At that moment, the ancestor's robes billowed, surrounding him with a sphere of black energy. It felt familiar yet somewhat different from the Nether Energy I possessed. He shouted loudly, "Open!"
What is this?! I was taken aback!
A rainbow light enveloped the Guardian like a cage. I had never felt such a sacred aura before; this energy definitely did not come from the ancestor!
The rainbow light condensed into a white beam that wrapped around the Guardian, who found himself completely powerless to retaliate!
Fear appeared on the Guardian's face as he exclaimed in Great Terror, "This, this is—!"
"That's right, just as you thought. The balance of the Three Realms is free, and once someone breaks it, punishment will follow accordingly," the Ancestor said.
The Guardian fell silent, bowing down respectfully in a deep salute.
"This time it's just a warning. Take care," the Ancestor said as he retracted the holy light that had trapped the Guardian.
"Remember Los Crystal."
"Whether to keep your Lost City of Lothar is up to you. If you dare to be so reckless again, you know what the consequences will be."
"Yes."
"Then what do you plan to do with my descendant—"
"Naturally, I will let her go, and I will not make things difficult for her," the Guardian Swiftly replied.
"I certainly believe you Los Crystal would not stoop to lying. Take care," the Ancestor said with a smile.
The Guardian nodded and then disappeared without a trace.
"Where did he go?" I asked in confusion.
"How could he dare to stay here? Ha ha," the Ancestor laughed.
"Why would the Ancestor come here?" I inquired. I certainly didn't think the Ancestor would come to this place for me.
"Ah, naturally to persuade Los Crystal to back off, but I didn't expect you to be here as well. Fortunately, I caught up with you," the Ancestor said.
"Is there really a problem here?" I said.
"That's right, Los Crystal absorbs all the Soul Energy from the creatures here every day. The further you go into the higher levels of the Demon Realm, the faster the Soul Energy dissipates."
"What?! But isn't it said that those who can leave here with treasures will definitely become powerful?"
"Los Crystal regularly sends a few people to help him maintain this lie. With his power, it's not surprising that he can do this."
"But logically, species that cannot survive in the outside world have low Soul Energy. What can Los Crystal do with them?" Even if he consumed their inner cores, it wouldn't be necessary for a being like Los Crystal.
"Don't you realize? No matter what the Soul Energy level of these creatures is, their unique traits can be refined to create a crazy army."
"...An army?!"
"Los Crystal creates his own species; in fact, no one can reach the sixth level. Even if they do, they will be completely drained by Los Crystal."
"Could it be those Snowmen?!" I suddenly thought of the creature I had seen earlier in front of the Duel Arena, which looked clumsy but had an icy expression.
The ancestor nodded and smiled, "No matter how Los Crystal changes, his aesthetic sense is still quite embarrassing."
I chuckled as well; indeed, who would have thought that such a mighty guardian would create an army of Snowmen like that?
"What is the relationship between Los Crystal and my master?" I suddenly recalled that Los Crystal referred to my master as Sister Three.
