Once again, we headed to the next destination, which was the final place. This time, however, there was no tension or anxiety like before; instead, my mindset was much calmer. We all sat on Little Pink's back, quietly watching the journey ahead.
"Xi Meng." The voice was soft and brief, even the sound that just emerged was scattered by the wind.
But I could feel the person beside me move slightly.
That's right, Silver Moon has awakened!
After several days, Silver Moon showed no signs of waking up. I was just about to let Little Pink take him to the Beast Forest for some respite when unexpectedly, he woke up!
"How do you feel?" I leaned down and asked softly.
"Um, help me sit up," Silver Moon replied with a slight smile, like a warm breeze that made me feel particularly comfortable, just like before. I really couldn't see any signs of flaw.
I lowered my eyelashes to hide a fleeting doubt and gently let Silver Moon lean against me.
"Your Highness, you finally woke up," Xiaopu exclaimed as he rushed over, but Chiba, Sun, and Curse Seal showed no reaction.
Just as Sun said, they still held doubts about Silver Moon.
"You've worked hard, Xiaopu," Silver Moon said warmly.
I was taken aback, and then Xiaopu excitedly exclaimed in disbelief, "Your Highness, have you regained your memory?!"
"Not completely regained; however, there are some images in my mind," Silver Moon maintained his smile without showing any hint of disappointment.
"Take your time; there's no rush," I said with a smile as I held Silver Moon's hand.
Yin Yue tightened his grip and scanned the surroundings, puzzled. "Where are we going?"
"Demon Abyss, to find the last Life Stone, but it’s a bit dangerous," I replied.
Chiba and the Sun turned to me simultaneously, seemingly displeased that I had told Yin Yue anything.
"I will protect you no matter how dangerous it is," Yin Yue said earnestly.
"I think you should take care of yourself first," the Sun said with a smile, clearly teasing.
Yin Yue frowned, his expression darkening. He struggled to sit up, releasing my hand and creating distance between us.
"Sun," I whispered sharply.
In Yin Yue's current state, he might not even be able to defeat Ming Zong; he was indeed in poor condition. As for whether he could recover, no one knew. Xiaopu was at a loss, and perhaps only Siyimo had the answer.
The Sun shrugged dismissively and waved his hand, turning away. Seeing the atmosphere grow heavy, Xiaopu made an excuse to teach the Sun a lesson and walked off.
"As long as you're by my side, I feel at ease," I said softly, moving closer to Yin Yue and speaking quietly beside him.
Yin Yue stiffened but allowed me to lean him back against my shoulder again.
"Sigh—" Yin Yue sighed softly.
"But I want you to be safe more," I continued. "Once Little Pink takes us to our destination, you can go wait for us in Beast Forest with it, okay?"
Before Yin Yue could refuse, I added, "Siyimo probably hasn't set his sights on Beast Forest yet. Besides, with Little Pink's strength, the Phoenix Butterfly Clan won't underestimate its orders. Having them protect you makes me feel more at ease."
"No, I'm not going," Yin Yue replied firmly.
"Yue, now is definitely not the time to show off." My tone was equally firm.
"I remember we both said we would never leave each other again." Silver Moon let her hand drop weakly, speaking in a barely audible voice, but it cut through my heart like a sharp sword.
We would eventually have to part ways...
Yet I couldn't bring myself to say that.
"It's not easy for us to meet again; how can you ask me to leave you for the sake of survival?" Silver Moon chuckled lightly, but there was deep bitterness in her laughter.
"Don't say that. I will definitely find—"
"Can you guarantee that?" Silver Moon turned around, her eyes scrutinizing me.
I—
Could not.
"You can't. Of course you can't. Do you know how painful it was for me after you disappeared from the Demon Abyss?"
"It wasn't because of Siyimo; it was because I thought I would never see you again."
"You know nothing, and yet you still want me to leave..."
Silver Moon always wore a smile, but it only made my heart ache more. After all, it was I who owed her.
"This time, no matter what, I won't leave you again. Even if I have to die, I choose to die by your side."
"Although my memory isn't fully restored, I still have some impression of the Demon Abyss. Since you're going into such danger, why not take me with you? I can help guide the way."
I admit that Silver Moon's words left me with no choice but to agree. Seeing his determined attitude, it truly felt like we had to go.
"Alright." In the end, I conceded.
...
We hovered above the Demon Abyss without descending, and everyone raised the alarm to the highest level. When we first arrived, although this place was fraught with danger, it maintained a facade of tranquility. But now, that overwhelming Evil Energy completely enveloped the Demon Abyss, creating a lifeless atmosphere.
"Damn it, this is just walking into a trap!" Sun cursed.
"Xi Meng, that Kurozawa you mentioned isn't deceiving you, right? Besides, how are we supposed to find anything in such a vast area?" Xiaopu looked reluctant to go down.
"What do you think, Chiba?" Chiba had been silent all along, occasionally casting wary glances at Silver Moon.
"We're going to have to come here sooner or later," Chiba said calmly.
Indeed, the battle with Siyimo was inevitable.
"Maybe it's not as difficult as you think," Silver Moon suddenly said in a low voice.
Everyone's gaze instantly focused on Silver Moon, waiting for him to continue.
"Siyimo is not in the Demon Abyss, and the demon army here has not awakened," Silver Moon stated.
"How is that possible? Lanzhi I encountered—how do you explain that?!" I asked.
"Lanzhi is not a demon," Silver Moon chuckled softly. "He is merely a character created by Siyimo; his true form is just an orchid."
"I've fought him before, and it's not as simple as you say." Chiba also spoke up. Lanzhi single-handedly killed several who surpassed Ming Zong; could such power merely come from Siyimo?
"I only know this much. There are indeed some mysteries surrounding Lanzhi, but one thing is certain: he is one hundred percent loyal to Siyimo and is willing to become a weapon for Siyimo."
"Are you sure the Demon Clan has not awakened?" Taiyang looked at Yin Yue with suspicion.
"I am quite sure. The Evil Energy here was only set up by Siyimo before she left. She is currently hiding in a very secluded place to cultivate, and the day she emerges will be the day the Demon Clan is unsealed."
"What Yin Yue said isn't entirely unbelievable. If the Demon Clan were to awaken, our ancestors would definitely have made some moves... It's just that there are quite a few clans currently relying on Siyimo. Just their presence has already turned the Underworld into chaos. If the Demon Clan is unsealed, it seems there will be no peace in the Underworld anymore," I said.
"How do you know all this?" Chiba scrutinized Yin Yue, seemingly searching for a flaw.
"You underestimate the prince of the Demon Clan too much," Yin Yue smiled and said no more.
At this moment, regardless of whether we could trust Yin Yue or not, we had to enter the Demon Abyss, so everyone stopped arguing and cautiously looked around, preparing to descend.
Suddenly, dark energy below surged towards us, instantly transforming into countless Blood Bats that crazily tore at our bodies, refusing to let go until they had bitten off flesh. Even more terrifying was that these Blood Bats seemed endless; it felt like they could never be killed!
"Quick, defend!" Chiba shouted loudly.
We worked together to activate our defenses, surrounding Little Pink. Although we temporarily held off this frenzy, the situation was dire.
If this continued, once Little Pink lost her balance, we would all fall. If we didn't land on solid ground, these Blood Bats would swallow us whole!
I shielded Yin Yue in front of me while Taiyang protected Xiaopu. Chiba was at the forefront, and Curse Seal was at the rear.
"This won't work; we need to find a place to land," I shouted.
Clearly, we did not have an advantage in aerial combat, especially in this place where what awaited us below was still unknown.
"There is only one way now," Chiba said.
"Someone has to go distract them first!" both Chiba and the Sun spoke at the same time.
I shuddered internally and immediately denied, "No way!"
"Yes, if we live, we live together; if we die, we die together!" Xiaopu said, looking at the Sun as he spoke.
"This is nonsense. Do you not understand the situation we're in?" The Sun's reprimand carried a hint of emotion, his lips curling slightly as he looked closely at Xiaopu.
Curse Seal remained silent, his gaze fixed on me, as if telling me that if I let him jump, he would not hesitate.
"I agree with Xiaopu this time," I said.
Just when everyone was holding on and unable to come up with any countermeasures, a very gentle voice suddenly came through, "Xi Meng, take care of yourself."
By the time I reacted, that person had already leaped off Little Pink!
"No—"
It was Silver Moon. Why did she do this?
Seeing Silver Moon's actions, everyone froze for a moment, their previous doubts instantly shattered.
But it was too late; there was no time left...
The Blood Bat suddenly charged toward the falling figure, and a glimmer of light returned to the surroundings.
"Xi Meng—!"
The crowd shouted several times; yes, this time it was me. I leaped forward, rushing toward that falling body. How could I let go again after all this time?
The serene face of Silver Moon bore a resolute expression, with a hint of a smile at the corners of her mouth, devoid of pain or panic, her eyes gently closed.
"Moon—" my voice was very soft.
Yet Silver Moon heard me, her eyes opening with a smile as she spread her arms wide.
I felt my body sink as I leaped into the embrace that had been waiting for me all along.
In that moment, I felt no danger around me and no pain; I held Silver Moon tightly, my heart filled with an unparalleled sense of peace.
"Moon." I called out softly again.
As the Blood Bat consumed us, we fell into an endless darkness. Strangely, they did not continue to tear at me and Silver Moon; instead, there was a sensation of being lifted, halting our rapid descent.
Before I could ponder what was happening, everything went black and I lost consciousness, the last image in my mind being Silver Moon's warm smile.
Suddenly, all discomfort vanished from my body; everything felt like a dream, transforming quickly. The pain brought by the Blood Bat was gone, and now I could stretch my body freely and lightly.
Gradually, a fragrance of flowers surrounded me as I settled into a soft place.
After a faint sigh from someone unknown, I fell into a deep sleep.
