Scarface slowly woke up and realized that it was already dark. He found himself at the foot of the mountain, surrounded by his subordinates, some still unconscious and others gasping for breath on the ground. Reflecting on the events of the morning, he let out a sigh of relief; it seemed he had narrowly escaped death.
Struggling to get up, he regained his imposing demeanor and surveyed the surroundings. It appeared to be safe, so he spoke loudly, "We will rest here for the night and head up the mountain first thing in the morning. We need to find the Evolved Creatures as soon as possible and return to base. Report immediately if anything unusual occurs!"
"Yes," his subordinates replied weakly.
Liu You'er crouched behind some bushes, pondering Scarface's words before walking deeper into the mountain.
The night had completely fallen, and it was pitch black in the dense forest. It felt as if something terrifying was lurking in the darkness, watching her. She felt uneasy, especially with the rustling sounds around her, which made her feel uncomfortable. The worst part was... she felt sleepy again!
Forget it, she shook her head, thinking she would deal with it in the morning. With that thought, she returned to her space, unaware that a group of small creatures was quickly approaching her from two hundred meters away. When they reached her location, they seemed to sense something and turned around before heading back down the mountain.
Inside a tent at the foot of the mountain, a man rolled over with a crisp sound as something crunched beneath him. He groggily opened his eyes and glanced at his sleeping teammates but paid no mind and continued to doze off.
When Liu You'er woke up feeling great, she remembered that after taking a shower yesterday and entering her space, she noticed changes. The room had expanded to over 100 square meters, and all the supplies she had collected from the supermarket were neatly stacked together. The fence in front of her yard had turned into wooden railings, and the well had transformed into a small pond with clear water flowing out beyond the railings. If there were more water, it would probably become a small stream. Beyond the railings was no longer a misty area; she could see lush greenery within a hundred meters, but anything further was unclear.
Even so, Liu You'er was very satisfied; this indicated that her space could upgrade along with her.
Walking on the soft ground and admiring the vibrant grass, an idea suddenly struck her. She buried various grains and fruits along both sides of the small stream. Although she didn't know how to plant them, she figured that even if she failed, it wouldn't matter since she didn't need or couldn't eat them anyway. Initially, she had collected them thinking they might be useful at base.
Suddenly, she heard "chirp chirp" sounds nearby, which startled her. Turning around, she saw several eggs had hatched on their own, revealing little chicks. These chicks looked at Liu You'er as if they saw their mother; they joyfully chirped at her before running out of the yard to drink from the flowing well water. Liu You'er stood there for a moment in confusion, wondering why these chicks were going outside and why they looked at her like a mother figure as if they possessed human emotions...
However, she was still filled with surprise; this meant that her space could now hold living creatures, and she could take Liu Yue and Xiaomin along to escape!
As for exploring the wonders of her space? Forget it, that seemed beyond her capabilities. She had been in a good mood yesterday, but who knew there would be troublemakers that made her unhappy? Now that everything was resolved, she looked at the little chick happily running on the grass and thought about figuring out the base's mission as soon as possible. She needed to find a legitimate reason to go to the base and check if there were still researchers working on vaccines or something similar. If there were, that would be great; she might find a way to restore Liu Yue's memory! That thought made her happy again.
Reluctantly glancing at her adorable space, she focused her thoughts and exited.
Although it was almost January, this place was like spring all year round. The weather was particularly nice today, with bright sunlight filtering through the leaves, illuminating the path and finally allowing her to see the scenery ahead clearly, leaving her momentarily stunned.
She hadn't noticed last night, but now she saw that the trees in this mountain were quite enormous; it would probably take two of her to hug one. Looking deeper into the forest, the trees seemed even larger. Feeling cautious, she slowly moved forward. However, she hadn't gone far when she heard a piercing scream coming from the left front. Frowning, she ran toward that direction while sensing the scene ahead, feeling increasingly alarmed.
Along the way, there were animal skeletons scattered everywhere, and she even saw two or three skeletons of canines that looked like either Tibetan Mastiffs or wolves, completely devoid of flesh.
What kind of animal could eat its prey so cleanly? The unknown fear made her want to retreat. The screams continued. After thinking for a moment, Liu You'er transformed into her Zombie form, resembling a hellish demon with sharp claws and fangs, and then ran toward that direction.
This time, she did not lose control of herself; instead, she intentionally transformed into a Zombie because she realized that only by doing so could she unleash her abilities to their fullest potential. However, due to the heavy smell of blood from afar, she did not notice someone watching her leave with astonished eyes...
Liu You'er ran three kilometers without feeling tired at all; it took only about five minutes. She stopped about a hundred meters away from where the screams had occurred and closed her eyes to begin sensing. The scene turned blood-red: dozens of people from Scarface's team lay on the ground covered in blood. Some were dead while others were unfortunate enough to be alive but suffering terribly as small creatures crawled all over them, causing them immense pain. Some couldn't bear it any longer and committed suicide.
Liu You'er opened her eyes and decided to see what was going on. She stealthily approached their direction and stopped ten meters away, finally getting a clear view!
To her shock, these people were covered in five-centimeter-long rust-red ants that relentlessly bit at them. Once they confirmed their victims were dead, they gathered together to move the bodies deeper into the dense forest. Liu You'er's brows furrowed deeply as she thought: "Does the base already know about biological mutations? What about plants? If this continues, can humanity really survive?"
However, after sensing those corpses, she found only one had an energy fluctuation, indicating that only one Ability user had died. She felt slightly relieved upon discovering Scarface was also missing; it seemed he had survived after all—what luck! But that was good; she still had use for him.
Suddenly, Liu You'er felt a weight on her shoulder. Turning her head, she discovered an ant had fallen from the tree onto her shoulder. At that moment, as she turned, she found herself staring eye to eye with it...
